mak4dpakParticipant
Kevin Keatts press conference as the new NC State coach. Should find it there.
mak4dpakParticipantI too listened to the press conference, and am also more of a fan, just listening to him talk, and what he expects from himself/coaches/players. If you missed it, you can pull it up on line. Worth listening to.
mak4dpakParticipantAnd then there is baseball and softball. Both started their season poorly, but seem to on track now, with both winning friday, and tonight. Ending series at noon Sunday. Go Pack!
mak4dpakParticipantAnya is a senior, so he is gone. Yurtseven has not signed an agent. And Abu will hopefully remain. The others will probably stick around.
mak4dpakParticipantMaybe a good thing Smith is leaving anyway. He is a talented player, but many times tried to do too much, and play the hero, which many times the others stood back and waited for just that. So that could have been a distraction, we won’t deal with next year. As for speaking of his undersized team at UNCW, well that was there. With the ACC, and great recruiting for which he is known, we should have no problem with size, if all return, minus Smith and the seniors. Plus keeping the incoming recruits. Next year might be a nice surprise, and having the right coaching assistants, which could also improve the defense. The man ain’t stupid. Success comes from intelligence. And that he has been everywhere.
mak4dpakParticipantJust curious, with Jim Valvano coming from little known Iona, were fans exuberant of his hire? Give the man a chance, then pass judgement. He seems truly excited, honored and committed to bringing us a basketball program to be proud of. But until he gets the chance, how will we ever know? If we are fans of NC State, then we need to stand behind him, again until he proves our support is unwarranted. He is our coach, and all the negativity will not change that fact. Look what Wes Moore has done with the ladies program. What big school did he coach at? He didn’t. But like Keatts, he brought a successful coaching resume. At least he wants to be at State. unlike the Millers, who seem to show no allegiance to the university.
mak4dpakParticipantDisappointment abounds. Not my choice either, however I gotta give him a chance, as they certainly played a great game against UVA, with lesser talent. So maybe we have found our diamond in the rough. Time will tell.
mak4dpakParticipantWell at least the women did us proud today. 62-48 over Auburn, with the final score not even as bad, as it had blossomed to 26, with the the subs playing most of the final period, and lots of turnovers. Go Pack! Await the winner of the Texas game.
mak4dpakParticipantDoesn’t really bother me that Archie isn’t coming, and of course his brother is a former assistant to Sendek. I am sure there are some real good coaches out there, and perhaps the time has come for us to finally turn the corner. Dayton is not invincible, and don’t really have any big wins against big name Division I schools. I would rather have the coach from Butler, and though I hear the talk, not sure Keats would be a good fit. Guess we just have to wait and see what happens, and hopefully most will be happy, as you can never please everyone.
mak4dpakParticipantMen home, but the ladies still dancing on Friday in Austin, Texas. Congrats!
mak4dpakParticipant9 ACC teams made the big dance. Hopefully with the right coach, we will be invited back, next year. Probably won’t hear anything on a coach til the dance is over, with a prospect now in the dance. My darkhorse would be Tommy Lloyd, the coach in waiting at Gonzaga, upon Mark Few’s retirement.
mak4dpakParticipantWhat a way to end the season! Terrible game coaching, and preparation, and apparently DSJ has moved on to the pros, since he was certainly a no show today. Let the coaching search begin. May a new era in Men’s basketball begin. Win!

03/01/2017 at 10:12 PM in reply to: Your “Looks Like We Made It” Finale at Clemson Open Thread #119485mak4dpakParticipantI too have no problem with running the clock down, just to clarify, but we tend to run off too much time, and hurry a shot, that again could have been kicked out to an open shooter, as everyone is out to stop DSJ.
03/01/2017 at 10:01 PM in reply to: Your “Looks Like We Made It” Finale at Clemson Open Thread #119481mak4dpakParticipantTypical DSJ, stand and run the clock down, to give us no chance, if we miss. And of course he loves his one on one, hero ball. No (I) in team. He was determined to make the last shot, and an air ball, at that. Welcome to the NBA.
mak4dpakParticipantNot sure who watched the unc/UVA game last night. I lost any respect I had for Jay Bilas in that game. State is not even playing. And out of his mouth comes, they should have waited til the end of the season to fire the coach, And regardless of when, it is unrealistic to think that State could be in the top 6 in the ACC. State hasn’t been relevant in 20 years. Like Duke has always been the greatest. And how does he know when things may turn around, if we find our Coach K. He is out there. I saw Jay Bilas, on facebook, and certainly let him know he needs to keep his comments to himself, when they are not facts. Just opinions. If you facebook, please let him know what you think. I have no use for him. Talks too much.
mak4dpakParticipantAnd the Mark Gottfried farewell tour continues. RIP?Mark Gottfried!
mak4dpakParticipantNo matter the choice, this saga will more than likely to continue, until basketball is done, and a champ is crowned.
mak4dpakParticipantGonzaga has a great coach. That would be a nice replacement. Gott makes about 1 million more in salary. Mark Few has been quite successful at Gonzaga. Just wonder if we could entice him. If so I would take him over Archie. Just my opinion though. He definitely could keep the team intact, with his record at the Zags. We need a coach who can build a program like K, and Roy, and be around til retirement.
mak4dpakParticipantTook in some wrestling tonight, State vs VT, in Blacksburg. Great match, with them ranked higher. Had a chance to win in the final match, but couldn’t pull it out. But much more entertaining than the game today. Maybe they could teach the BB team some defense.
mak4dpakParticipantI think the protestor should chant NOT MY COACH!!!!
mak4dpakParticipantLast year was bad, we coulda gotten over that, but this year is worse. Coach has gotta go, even if it happens before season’s end. A backup coach can do no worse. Poor Duke! What an embarrassment to lose to us at home. Got tickets to the game Wednesday nite, unfortunately. If we continue as we are, it will be a 51+ loss. At least I won’t have to endure the whole game, with the long drive back to Fayetteville.
mak4dpakParticipantUnless there is a miraculous turn around, and there won’t be, Yow is going give Gott the ax, and he certainly has earned it. Seems other things are more important to him, than coaching his team to be successful on the court. Sad days for Pack fans. At least the women are winners, and have beaten the top 4 teams in the conference.
mak4dpakParticipantDebbie Yow said, though her retirement is in 2019, she is still working and will do what is needed, prior to retirement.
mak4dpakParticipantLosing was a given, just felt Anya in the middle would have made the inside dominance, not as dominant, until he fouled out of course.
