It would really be helpful for our outside shooters to not struggle for 75% of the game today. If they follow the general pattern of failing to get open and missing shots, this game will be out of hand before the 2nd TV timeout.
Anybody that thinks Gottfried can get a championship of any type out of our basketball program is delusional.
But we’re going to be a lot better next year, right? I mean, that’s the general assessment, right? Finish in the top 3 in the league? Same players, same coach. But we’ll be a lot better, right?
I can’t think of any circumstance in which I’d pull for UNC. That said, there’s no way they’re not winning this game. ND has no defense for them.
I tried to keep the winning streak going by continuing to pick us to lose, but unfortunately, Duke is more talented and played with laser focus and efficient execution. We didn’t help ourselves at all, don’t get me wrong, but they were going to probably win that game no matter what.
Now as far as some of the accolades comments above go, we’d better learn to deal with that if we’re going to be a top team. We can’t continue to let such things be a factor in our success, if they even are. But if they are and we do, then a top tier team we won’t be.
Duke, UVA, UNC, and Louisville and ND. There are 5 reasons. Couple that with our inconsistency, and we’re probably in the 5-8 range. Yeah, we’ll have some talent, but until I see evidence that we can become a much more consistent team throughout the season, any expectations of being a top tier team in the league, while optimistic, are premature, IMO.
