ParticipantThis team is capable of beating the best or losing to the worst on any given day. There’s no way to predict it or understand it. It’s just who they are. Keatts has done a remarkable job in year one. Abu is terrible. This team is fun to watch when they’re on and maddening to watch when they aren’t. You might as well flip a coin to figure out what team is going to show up. At least they have heart and don’t quit. That’s pretty much it.
If we win the first round, I think we’re at least a Sweet 16 team, probably Elite 8. IF we win the first round. Quarter came up heads two and a half times. π

ParticipantNo big mystery here. We are an average team, with mostly above average talent. We just had the fortune of playing teams that are mostly worse than us this year. @BC is about the best win we have (FSU is just abysmal).
Finley is an average QB with not an ounce of clutch in him, well in line with the aggregate team clutch rating.
DD does less with more, and it’s becoming clearer to more people that this type of season is really close to our ceiling under him.
There are too many alarms with this team that go off, even in victories, warning that we need turnovers, penalties, and luck to fall in our favor to avoid defeat — kicking game, bad play calling, long stretches of lack of focus, bone headed on the field decisions, etc.
Lastly, I don’t know whether the call in the field was right or wrong, but unless there was some super secret replay angle not shown to us, it would have not been possible to overturn. If only we would have just fallen down, it would have been a TD. But too bad. See the previous paragraph about bonehead plays and luck.
We should have won. And we will be saying the same next weekend after the storm inevitable loss to UNC.

ParticipantThis is extremely simple.
Either we are:
A) Utterly incompetent, or
B) Uninterested in relevancy

ParticipantI see lack of composure down the stretch is a skill we still exhibit with stunning competence.

ParticipantAll the stars are aligned to get Arch. This is his senior-laden team, best year for him to jump. Heβs very fond of Raleigh, as supposedly is his wife. The only competing jobs will be B1G, and even they MAY not come open.
We just need not screw it up, or insult him by going in cheap to start negotiations. He needs to know we are serious, and are treating him like the star-level coach that he is.
7-year deal, $3.5M average value. Control over AD selection (hopefully sooner than later). NC State shall be ArchieWorld.
100% accurate. If we want him and are at all competent (and assuming he doesn’t hate NC State), we will get him. It’s pretty straightforward.
Khan
ParticipantThis team is just not very good at basketball.
Khan
ParticipantPOM, yes…that is what’s going to happen. Seems like it always does.
Khan
ParticipantUnless Miller hates NC State, we could get him if we wanted him and were able to go about it the right way. It isn’t rocket science.

Participant@NCSU84…we’ll go to the bench and sub in Task (or some equivalent) for Job. Probably was a poor choice of wording. π

ParticipantHe’s a basketball player on a basketball team. His job is to play basketball to the best of his ability. Period.

ParticipantI stand by my “we’re awful” conclusion.
Khan
ParticipantWe are awful.
Khan
ParticipantWe broke the streak!
So glad Pitt couldn’t hit any of their wide open shots at the end of the game. Good to steal one
on the roa….er, at home in the ACC. The league is brutal this year!Khan
ParticipantBut at least we have a streak going.
Khan
ParticipantWe are terrible.

Participant“We’re getting better” is the NC State version of fake news. We are not.
Gottfried is incapable. It’s just that simple.
Khan
ParticipantIf we don’t finish top 4 or 5 in the conference this year with this group of talented players, then it should be fairly obvious that Gottfried needs to go, unless our goal is to be a perpetual middle of the pack team.
Maybe you could argue that the league is stacked this year. But if that’s the argument and the reason we can’t finish near the top, I guess our only viable strategy then is to hope that the league isn’t stacked in future years.
I guess we should also hope that Gottfried somehow recruits great classes year in and year out.
I guess we should also hope that he someday learns how to coach defense, composure, attention to detail, fundamentals, free throw shooting, etc., etc., etc., etc….
Unfortunately, in my experience, hope and optimism don’t win basketball games.

ParticipantCan’t believe they’re going to play this game. Already 3″ of rain and under a Flash Flood warning. Probably end up with 10″, trees down, and power outages. Should be fun to watch!
Khan
ParticipantCanadians have 7-8″. The Europeans are last to bat. They’ll probably have less.
Khan
Participant12Z 4K NAM has a nice swath of 8″ through the area. 12Z GFS has 6-7″. The RGEM shows about 5-6″. We’ll see what the Canadians say in a bit. π
4K NAM:
Khan
ParticipantShould be some decent weather for the game tomorrow. Gusts into the 30s with inches of rain falling. The Canadians are showing 9″ total for the event. The Americans are showing around 6″. Yummy.
Khan
Participant12z about the same. Storm never makes it farther north than the mid-SC coast, but we still get about 5″ of rain.
