Any thread starting with “Bracket Master” Joe Lunardi’s predictions will tend to be dubious, though it does get the discussion going and gets us in the standard Wolfpack underdog state of mind.

Christ, 44. Pessimistic much? I don’t know what the ceiling is under Gott but I know it’s higher than under any coach since V. And his teams play an aesthetically cool style. The top of the acc is tough as hell now, but if you have so little hope that we can get there or even in the conversation feel free to tune out rather than watch and expect the worst. I sure as hell don’t foresee a static stratification of the acc with State leaning towards the bottom, neither subjectively nor objectively.

TJ is an all-time Wolfpacker. Classy, awesome player to watch. I think he is still underrated as he goes to the NBA.

Re. next year’s team, it looks good- potentially very good. One could see the talent starting to peek out of a lot of the youngsters; the development and greater potential was obvious. And it’s a team that really seems to be focused on TEAM. I was heartened when Cat made some comments connoting that late in the season, after Tyler had begun starting. This year Gott did a hell of a job of coaching through the season. I have higher expectations for next year than I would have thought a couple months ago.

Cat will be top notch- he started showing flashes of all the skills and never got down when Tyler took the starting spot. He has and will continue developing. I’m a Tyler fan, but I’m irritated by the twitter crap. Regarding the transfers, his class signed with Gott but were- as Tyler said- Lowe’s recruits. If I remember, de Thaey might have been a late reach brought by Lutz. Purvis wants to be an nba baller, so he wanted to be a pg, at which he was awful. De Thaey was a bust, a really awful “skilled” big man. Tyler was the guy I liked, but it was clear that on a good acc team he needed to eventually be a good backup pg or be a good mid-major starter. He obviously couldn’t deal with the former option. I wish him well, but he is inarguably going out like a dick. Whether he has valid gripes or not, bitching thru twitter never looks good. And my perception is that his gripes are bogus.

Butler had its day, now it’s back to normal. If Smart leaves VCU, the same. Of course fans right now would see Butler in a better light- State has gone through years of recovery (Les), mediocrity (Herb), suckdom (Lowe).
Re. Gott, kids who don’t get their way and prima donnas rag him. Can he be a cocky prick? Yes. Does that bother me? No. Is he a good coach who has State on track? Yes.

Plywood is spot on-“Maybe my post should have been: “If only he had been as quick on D as he is on Twitter.”
I like the kid, but he’s moving on, so he should just move on.”

REALLY glad he stayed this year- fun to watch run the offense and he saved our asses by switching off for a not yet ready Cat. Cat has all the PG tools and just needs to progress, as players under Gott do (CJ doesn’t count). Tyler knows he belongs at a mid major and can excel in such a situation. He should know he’s not big time ACC starting material due to his lack of athleticism and length; at least he should know considering the schools that comprised his transfer list.
I will miss Lewis, but it’s a much smaller loss now than it would’ve been last year. Anyway, he needed a Warren level teammate to shine as he did.
I wish him well and will follow his career, but I really wish he were leaving in a classier manner- stop the tweeted excuses/gripes/whinges. The staff did right by him and he needs to chill.
