Hurney indeed screwed that franchise big time. Gettleman’s also got to worry about the $$$ tied up in an often injured backfield that can’t give them a full season. Hurney never understood the concept of selling high. Should’ve done that with Peppers along with Williams and Stewart years ago. Panthers have a defense to build on, which will keep the season from being a total disaster, but they will be better off in the long run with the moves being made now.
JasonPParticipant^ Jefferson left it on the court today – 11 boards in 27 minutes. Really could’ve used that guy.
JasonPParticipantK relied on the 3’s this season because his guards can’t break anyone down off the dribble, nor can they drive with regularity. Mercer was not afraid of them today. They were ready to play and win.
JasonPParticipantWith this list of names leaking out publically I can’t help but think they’re going to embarass themselves, which I fully support.
Unless of course, it’s all a smokescreen. And we know about those…
JasonPParticipant^ Someone post a pic of “Timeout” Pete Gillen.
JasonPParticipantTerrible thought that we’ll get completely snubbed out of the NCAA unless we win the tourney, while coaches are able to con their way in with weak schedules and sympathy cards.
JasonPParticipantThis link has us as a 5 seed, UMD and Clemson at 4, FSU at 1.
Having a hard time with the link not showing. Here’s the copy/paste link:
http://www.bracketmatrix.com/nit.htmlOr just google “Bracket Project” – they’ve got both the NCAA and NIT on the site.
JasonPParticipantQuoting Packalum44 from the game thread:
I die a little bit inside each traumatic game I watch…This is the most painful loss I’ve experienced since RW and Tom lost us to Maryland for ACC title trip…Feelings suck.
Ditto. This was painful. Made more so by the abject failure to remotely defend their best player at crucial times. Can’t imagine how frustrated the coaches must be when they watched our guards get abused in crunch time. It’s like they’re feet are stuck in sand.
Of course, if we’d have won, Holes fans would be saying the same about not being able to defend TJ. He put on a clinic and schooled their whole squad multiple times. At about the 10 minute mark in the 2nd, before picking up his 4th with a frustration foul, he put the team on his shoulders, and picked up where he left off after coming back in. Best State player since Googs. Hope we get another year out of him but realize that’s not going to happen. Players like him are few and far between for the Pack.

I’ll bet that Georgia Southern, ODU and USF all look at us on their schedule and expect to win that game.
We don’t scare anyone. I think we’ll be better than last year, but I don’t fully expect us to be 4-0 going into the FSU game either.
JasonPParticipant43-35 game at the half. Refs took over in the 2nd and ruined what could have been a classic ACC game with a final score in the 80s. The refs didn’t lose this game for us, but they certainly disrespected the sport itself. Here’s hoping someone in the ACC offices makes some attempt at getting that corrected. There’s no need to call a foul on every single offensive possession. If these games don’t have a flow, you’ll lose viewers which means less ad revenue. And money talks.
Extremely disappointed in how this one ended. Despite the bad plays and difficulty with the zone, had we made our foul shots we’d have won the game. Don’t know where this season is going to end up but probably not in the Tourney. At least the women are playing some great bball right now, so there’s that.
JasonPParticipantWake’s hire is a bit underwhelming to me, but I take that as good news. He was OC at UT when Fulmer got fired and Kiffin sent him packing. I want WF to suck out loud and I hope Clawson is the man to take them there.
Peterson at UW though, great hire. On paper that’s an upgrade from Sark.
JasonPParticipantGreat write up. Love the Vols’ logo with the coon hound on it. Nothing says “Tennessee” quite like a hound dog.
All 3 of those games are tough and I’d love to see the team come out 2-1 in that stretch. Not going to be easy, but should be excellent primer for going into league play.
