inhoc…Participant
Montgomery stepped into a relatively stable program. Fedora did also.
Uh Fedora walked into a program amidst an NCAA investigation with scholarship reductions and facing possible further sanctions, while still out recruiting NC state.
ECU is ECU, shouldn’t have to really elaborate on that. Went 5-7 overall and 3-5 in the American Conference.
inhoc…ParticipantI don’t think he was going to start at BSU this year. Take a look at his replacements stats
His back up won first team all conference
A broken ankle suffered in the third game opened the door for Brett Rypien, who started the Broncos’ final 10 games and was the All-Mountain West first-team quarterback as a true freshman.
It’s at least safe to say BSU probably had a QB competition on their hands this year.
I also think Drink and Finley are heading into more difficult situation in the ACC. I contend that the D in the ACC is probably (on average) a bit tougher that what BSU faced last year. Yes I know they’ve won some BCS games of late which is definitely noteworthy, but their conference doesn’t look to be quite at stout as the ACC. State probably offsets that with the cupcakes it’s had OOC the past couple years, but BSUs “cupcakes” still counted as conference wins.
After looking at their schedule from 2015 I’d argue that state could have gone 8-5 against BSUs (9-4) schedule. And I don’t even feel like that’s a stretch.
BSUs in confrence record last year. Have a look:
W Hawaii (3-10)
W Colorado State (7-6)
L Utah St (6-7)
W Wyoming (2-10)
W UNLV (3-9)
L New Mex. (7-6)
L Air Force (8-6)
W San Jose St (6-7)5 conference opponents below .500 (and not a single opponent more than TWO (2!) games above .500!)
Conference opponent total record: 42-61
Now, if you compare states in conference schedule/opponent record the #s are markedly better.BSU’s OOC sched was Wash St, BYU, Idaho St and UVA with their only loss coming @ BYU. BSU def gets the advantage in OOC sched.
I hope Coach Drink (and his QB) do well, but my senses tell me he’s going to be tested against stiffer competition this year. I love the attitude and approach to coaching he showed in his initial interview with Tony H. Just hope they both can put up #s against ACC foes. Just my $.02

Which* don’t know if that was autocorrect or what!
So who’s court is the ball in, so to speak? Can’t believe the timeline is already pushed to next fall.
Is the NCAA still digesting these new “violations”? Will a new NOA be handed down, essentially starting the process over?
02/14/2016 at 12:51 PM in reply to: NYT factually inaccurate in article – Dean Smith’s shadow looming over scandal #99445inhoc…ParticipantWhen will something be realeased from the NCAA regarding UNCs response to the NOA? Last I heard they self reported additional “violations” witch bought them more time, but that was months ago. Shouldn’t there be action soon?
inhoc…ParticipantI would love to go and have a beach mango daiquiri and wax philosophical with him.
I heard a lot of spas at the resorts down there offer waxing, by appointment only. None the less, chances are pretty good for you.
inhoc…ParticipantTwo excellent reasons why I always ask my self why I come back here to read up on things Wolfpack Related:
Think we didn’t miss Shadrach Thornton?
Out of all the mitigating factors to consider the loss today, this is front and center?
L’ville is a solid football program. I’m going to say that again. L’ville is a solid football program.
Louisville was not good today at all. period. They were on the road with a freshman QB and stole a division win. VT is a trainwreck without their QB too, are we going to start hearing about how good they are next?
inhoc…ParticipantWow, this is “front page material”? The stereotype is perpetuated even further.
That’s a funny license plate though.
inhoc…Participant^ You idiots, don’t you read? Obviously this screenshot is worthy of a repost because some of you didn’t bother to read the thread before you ignorantly posted. It’s not an issue in the gov’t because unc is still good for the people of nc. Cheaters or not.
inhoc…ParticipantOh man, can’t wait to hear what Bob Huggins’ daughters have it say about that!!!
inhoc…ParticipantHmmm…I see that the last post in this thread was from 2010. Why is it back on the first page???
inhoc…ParticipantI’m sure L’ville’s defense had something to do with it
It definitely did. And they were extremely good defensively.
but I would’ve like to see us go inside a lot more than we did – even if we kicked it back out. I don’t feel like we really made them work down low on defense.
After repeated attempts of our guys going inside, they ended up in turnovers and errant shots. I guess the gray area is if it was CLEAN D.
Abu even drew some fouls early which I thought was going to be a theme throughout the game, and then was cracking up seeing how many fouls stat had compared to LOU
inhoc…ParticipantThey were there, but you probably couldn’t hear them over Vern yelling “Wow!” and “Oh no! Oh no!”
You’re absolutely right, and to be fair, though, through out the tournament I saw state on the other side of some of those calls which was nice to see. However they were not call in multiples of at the end of the game.
As bad as it sounds I initially was relieved when rosier finally went down and was hurt. Caught up in the competitiveness I guess, but I felt like that was what he had coming for all the fouling and no calls preceding.
We’re all guilty of thoughts like that sometimes I guess. Some more honest about it than others.
inhoc…ParticipantI knew it was over when Cat got shoved to the ground down 5 and Rozier got the and 1 at the other end. The game was too physical for us to win
THIS x 1000
That’s definitely why Cat stopped driving the lane. 3 times he drove in the first half and ended up going down hard after an errant shot.
The most telling possession for me was when Anya (extremely tough guy down low) was gangbanged by 3 defenders, couldn’t even go up with a shot, ends up turning the ball over that ends up a 3 point play on the other end(looked on the floor foul to me)
I’ll qualify this with admitting to be the most critical of those who blame the refs for a loss so don’t take it that way. I felt like the team hung in pretty tough in a hard fought game, and Gott made some good personnel adjustments to keep the game close. Ultimately I feel like a couple no-calls and lucky shots falling down for Lou late made the difference.
Would have expected to see a little more comments on the refs but maybe I just saw it wrong.
Earlier in the year, especially after some WTF losses that I definitely thought were solely on the team and Gott were highlighted as the refs robbing the pack. Honestly, and thanks to the elevated play in Cat, I think the staff and players did fairly well down the stretch of the season and you could see situations where the team was on the other end of some calls that I’d chick up to “creating luck for yourself”.
inhoc…ParticipantWow, nice long winded, rambling recovery saying “I guess I’m sort of sorry? But really more sorry you feel that way”.
I was at the dean done last night with a UNC fan/alum and thank god he hadn’t heard/ read this by the time we went our
Seperate ways after the game. Will be interesting if I hear about it this morning at work. He’s the type guy who would take the high road over something like this though (obviously something foreign to this crowd). The sheer embarrassment and shame I would have had I been confronted with this article would have far exceeded walking out of the dean dome with a 30 point loss. Lay off the narcissism and obsession with UNC. Focus on Wolfpack stuff.
Stuff like this weakens Wolfpacker perseption amongst others, and perception is reality.
I alsong with many others are really done with this blog. I hope you guys take steps back to where it used to be.
inhoc…ParticipantLooking for 2 (will take 3) state unc tix for tomorrow. Any sellers?
02/01/2015 at 2:57 PM in reply to: Saturday’s best & highlights of State’s win at Georgia Tech #72713inhoc…ParticipantI realize you are being sarcastic, but Roy does not have that happen to him consistently.
Exactly. You’re making a comparison to a team that is constantly in the top 25 and already has a tourney resume’. I don’t see your logic in applying that to state when we are barely on the bubble and lost THREE games in a row(in DERP fashion mind you). Every team is going to have a loss occasionally. IMHO that’s a pretty ignorant comparison.
And again this was another game where state was up 15 points and found itself down 4 points with less than 30’second to go. Good on the tee palm for getting the W, but again way was state in a situation of having to foul and bank on GT missing free throws in the final seconds after being up 15?
inhoc…ParticipantPosting this so I stop receiving follow up emails.
inhoc…ParticipantNot sure what is worse: this loss or the fact it took this loss to open some eyes. This season is no different than the past 3. Different players, similar outcomes.
I don’t have to believe that, but common sense may [provale] eventually. You may be right. Not much evidence to say you aren’t. :/
inhoc…ParticipantIt’s all swoffords fault!! And unc and that rogue they hired to sabotage us! And can you believe! I heard congress had legislation written into Obama care that allowed them to screw state in scheduling for football and basketball!
Obviously getting rid of Karl Hess didn’t prove to be effective as originally thought. There must be a puppeteer further up the food chain. If it wasn’t for all the external factors that hold nc state down they’d have multiple NCs in both revenue sports!!!
Haha end of sarcastic rant. I’d imagine that if/when state finds a way to consistently win games a lot of the finger pointing (at eachother and everyone else) will stop.
inhoc…ParticipantAnd Wolfpack basketball takes another step back from relevancy. Sub .500 in league play and another winnable game that wasn’t closed out down the stretch, going cold instead.
inhoc…ParticipantNo need to be a douche
You’re probably right, however it’s an ongoing theme that shouldn’t go unaddressed.
inhoc…ParticipantNo. It’s the refs. They gyp us every stinking game. Every one! That’s the only reason why State is third fiddle to U*NX and Duke. If it wasn’t for the conspiracy theory against state we’d be the ones hanging all those NCs from our rafters!!
inhoc…ParticipantHaha I knew it! There’s the blaming of the refs again. Lol
That inbound pass was the dumbest thing I’ve seen all night. The ref wasn’t the one passing or catching the ball!’
inhoc…ParticipantDEEEERP!!!
inhoc…ParticipantTotes agree Mr. Ply.
I don’t like it either.
At least we aren’t hearing U*NC conspiracy theories for the time being!!
