Hey, color me excited just to see the end of a season in which the Pack started with a double-digit loss at home against William & Mary. That kind of set the tone for apathy right there. And to have to win with a buzzer-beater against one of the worst teams in Division 1 basketball is not much better. Glad I missed this one (and most of the rest this year).
Hopefully the coaching crew can bring in some backup support at point guard and have at least one summer without a transfer (or two, or three).
Very disappointing season this year.
ILPackfanParticipantDon’t know about that, but Cat may have a new career high….
ILPackfanParticipantNice putback by Rowan.
ILPackfanParticipantSeriously! Is this ref crew getting paid by the whistle? WTF?
ILPackfanParticipantThe guys have a chance to be 2-2 by this time next week. And then the bottom will fall out with games at UNC and Pitt followed by Duke coming to the PNC, then GaTech and Miami to close out the month. Best case scenario is probably 3-6 in conference play going into February.
Yeah, 9th or 10th place is shaping up to be the ceiling for this team barring a miracle.
ILPackfanParticipantFree throws killed us this game. Can’t keep missing ’em like that. Grrr.
ILPackfanParticipantIt’s a relief to see some good roster news for a change. Kid looks like he’s got a chance to be much more of an impact player in Raleigh than in Lexington.
ILPackfanParticipantReally bummed about Lacey. I don’t find his draft prospects all that bright, but I can’t blame him for trying to sell high on this year’s performance. Not surprised that Washington is moving on; he seemed to be the odd man out for most of this season.
IMHO, Cat would be making a big mistake by declaring this year. His game is still developing in pretty much every aspect. No way he should leave now, at least, from what I’ve seen.
ILPackfanParticipantThat was AWESOME!!!!
Good to see the guys play in the second weekend again. Go Pack!
ILPackfanParticipantDefinitely more concerned about Cat’s well-being than the loss itself. At least he’ll have some days to recover. About the loss, well, I’m in the camp that thinks a 10 or 11 seed is a better path through the round of 32 than an 8/9 matchup with the 1 seed.
So while I didn’t appreciate the ugliness of the loss, it makes it seem more likely to have more upside than down.
ILPackfanParticipantIt’s been a long time since the Pack hung two losses on Duke in the same season. They beat the Pete Gaudet Blue Devils twice in 1995 (and predictably lost to Duke in that year’s Les Robinson Invitational match-up). They haven’t beat Coach K twice in a year since 1988.
So they’re overdue. Go Pack!
ILPackfanParticipantStill some basketball left in this season, thankfully. Could this team be frustratingly inconsistent at times? Heck yes. On the other hand, I’m not sure I expected a winning conference record after losing TJ Warren to the NBA last year. Good job to the Pack for finishing strong at the end. Hope they’re playing deep into both the ACC and NCAA tourneys.
ILPackfanParticipantYou’d think this wouldn’t bode well for the folks in Chapel Hill. Based on the NCAA report, the academic fraud at Syracuse doesn’t seem to have been anywhere near as institutionalized as the alleged operations at UNC. That said, I’ll believe a hammer’s coming down when it actually strikes. And based on the timeline in this past investigation, we can probably expect that finding sometime in, oh, 2023.
ILPackfanParticipantWell that’s a relief. Didn’t think that last minute was ever going to play out. Ugly win, but a good one.
ILPackfanParticipantAlthough maybe considering a Schlitz in honor of ClemPson.
ILPackfanParticipantJim Beam if they start cold again. Basil Hayden’s if they’re playing well. Angel’s Envy for the win.
Good drinking no matter the outcome.
ILPackfanParticipantWell, since 2008, the Pack is 1-6 at Littlejohn. The one win was the squeaker in 2013 when Scott Wood hit a trey in the corner with time expiring. Anyway, it would be a great time to start bucking that trend and pick up a road win before Syracuse comes to town.
ILPackfanParticipantAwesome result tonight. So glad I didn’t have to hear another round of Tarhole fans chanting “Not our rivals!” again. G’night, folks.
ILPackfanParticipantDid I just hear that was the lowest UNC score in the Deandome? Gosh, I hope so.
ILPackfanParticipantHell f******g yes!!!!
ILPackfanParticipantBill: good call on that “first to 50” thing.
ILPackfanParticipantOh hell yes.
ILPackfanParticipant2 straight TO’s. They’re playing our game!
ILPackfanParticipantTO, baby!
ILPackfanParticipantAnd a good block on the other end, too.
