I saw Jamious is already trashing FSU’s facilities and talking up how nice Michigan’s are and how he wished he could have played for Harbourgh. What a dirt bag. I know the capacity of our stadium is not as large as the big timers, but I would think with the indoor opening up our “facilities” are right up there with most. What is included when you talk about facilities and I wonder how ours truly does rank?

That makes the Cheaters sound like a terrible team. I wish it were so. Anyone who watched that game last night, it looked like a final four match up, and it will take our best effort of the esason yet to beat them. I’d wager that Ol’ Roy is taking plenty of heat for losing that game. It was on him. I do not believe he will be there much longer. He cannot be having any fun.

Louisville taking a L to Syracuse. Every time we get the big W, that team loses again to take some of the shine off of it.

Ok, you made me look it up. Towe was drafted 3rd round by Denver (ABA) and by the Atlanta Hawks in the 4th round. He played for two years with Thompson in Denver, the first in the ABA and the second in the NBA. I have read the story about Sloan not wanting him because of his height, but he proved his worth and turned out to be a great point guard. He and Thompson practically invented the alley oop. We could not have won the championship without him.

Great analysis. But if I may, I’d like to show another common thread that these teams share

I can certainly appreciate Jiga’s analysis but Lumpy’s post really hit home on how important great players are to winning a championship. Taking it a step further, the ’83 team had Thurl Bailey, a long time great career in the NBA. I know Lowe played a few years also. I cannot remember if Lo, Whitt, and Cozell played in the NBA, but I do believe they all played overseas successfully. And even Gannon did all right using his mouth:} The ’74 team, DT speaks for himself. Some of you can remember better than me, but I know Stoddard played MLB, and I believe Burleson and Towe both played in the NBA. Don’t know about Rivers. But it does show what great players we had in our championship years as well as the ones listed by Lumpy in recent years.

Do we have that now? Time will tell. I doubt anyone saw Thurl Bailey developing into the player he was or having the NBA career he did during his first two years or even his junior season at State. Guggs is another example of that. With some players it is obvious how good they are and they don’t usually stay around long anymore, but others develop into great players that can win you a championship. Let’s hope that’s what we GOTT.

Thanks. That frees me up a little, and makes me feel much better knowing that it is impossible to understand all the ramifications of each game. I’ll be rooting for Pitt & GT tonight, WF over ND, VT over Miami, Louisville and Duke on Wed.

I’m pretty sure I am one of the few, including in the Conte Forum whatever that is, who watched the BC/Miami game this afternoon. BC miraculously found a way to lose that game. You think they are awful until you watch them. That will not be an easy win for us. There truly are no easy ones, although I am hoping for a relaxing evening on Saturday.

Who do we pull for tonight? Does it benefit us if Pitt wins, since we beat them, or do we want them to lose since we are both competing for the last spots. Same with GT/Clemson. We want GT to win since we beat them? There is a lot to learn about RPI. Thanks for the help!

I’m not familiar with Dance Card but 99.32% chance? I thought I was an optimist but that’s ridiculous. It is not a sure thing by any means. We still have a lot of work to do. We have hope at least but no 99%+ guarantee.

As much as the week off seemed to help us the week before UVa & Louisville, it feels like this break is coming at the worst time. We have the momentum, we’re healthy, and should be fresh. Can’t change the schedule but I wish we could tee it up again right now! I’m ready. Bring on the Hokies!!

Pup…I got a lot of respect for your leadership and always enjoy your posts, but I’m superstitious at the same time. I’m thinking we got to go with BJD at the controls and definitely stick with the black jerseys and ride this wave out…

If I were to meet meet Coach Gottfried today, the only thing I would be able to say is “Thank you.” Thank you for giving us a team that is fun to follow, for getting us out of the cellar, for getting us back in the dance, for getting us back into the national conversation, for giving us a program we can be proud of, and for giving us a feeling like we have a chance to win every game we play. Don’t take it for granted, we didn’t have any of those things for a long while.

This will be the toughest ACC tournament in years for everybody…

We may be playing as well as anyone. For sure, it feels like we can win every game we play. Just got to close the deal like we did today.
