I give up. What’s this all about? I don’t get anything when I click on “read more.”

Is that related in any way to what Jason Biggs did to an apple pie?

foose, you are sick… but funny.

You gave up your season tickets because of long lines for the bathroom and traffic? Come on Man….seriously?

Don’t forget those early season noon games we use to have 2 decades ago. Oh wait, we didn’t have all that many noon games 2 decades ago. But what the heck, if you ain’t going to the games, one damn reason is as good as another. I’m going to stop going because I’m backing a cake during the times games are played. Like I said…

I’d go to their place twice for 1 trip to Raleigh.

And how would that help with our OOC home schedule? We had a home and home set up with LSU and ESPN wanted them to play Cuse on TV. LSU didn’t want to play 2 ACC teams in one season (afraid of what?) and wanted us to switch to 2020 something. Yow said no so LSU defaulted on their contract. Then there was the ND game that the league canceled when ND quasi-joined the ACC…

Never mind LSU and ND, what we don’t need is to be scheduling any 2 and 1’s which would really screw with the economics of our Athletic department as we would be short home game revenue.

Wish we could further develop our relationship with Tennessee Vols by setting up a football series(again),

What happened to the home and home we had set up with Tennessee and wound up playing one game in Atlanta? The answer to that question may be the answer to yours.

a little humility (emphasis on “little”)

What do mean little? I’ll have you know, my only character defect is my excessive humility. 😉

Grey, I respect you and your opnion. You have got a lot of knowledge. Just don’t like your delivery sometimes. That’s on me. I will pipe down.

We agree on one thing for sure; I don’t like my delivery sometimes either. Regarding my knowledge, I’ve been educated 3 or 4 years past my intelligence.

I took “Football De-Recruiting” the wrong way. No excuse but it sounded when I read it like negative perception of the job our coaches are doing. It’s also likely I was reactivated by some things said about our coaches in the past. My bad.

Speaking of recruiting, I’m more let down by the recent commitment of a 2 star OL than by King de-committing. But like Mr. DOG indicated, we shall see.

Our coaches got too much class and ethics to mention the “great unpleasantness” at EweNC but I wouldn’t be surprised if our committed recruits aren’t letting the “undecided” know about it.

Greywolf.. It’s par for the course for you to rip people about their opinions or thoughts. I guess your numerous apologies are always welcome.

Yeah, I’m bad about saying something when I think someone is cracking on the Pack. IF I find that I was in error in my opinion, I’ve got the gonads to apologize. I find that better than carrying a grudge.

Respond with what ever you like I don’t care anymore.

Sorry about that, JackWolf. I guess I’m a little edgy about recruiting what with Hines, Hughes and a few others we are in the running with not yet in.

“Football De-Recruiting” Is that the best you can do to make this sound really bad for the Pack? Reading his tweet it was pretty clear that he felt like he had a better chance at playing somewhere else. And it was very tasteful and appreciative of the Pack staff and players.

Don’t quite know what to think about another ** OL. I do know what to think about a preferred walk-on from New Bern — who was the center for Mike Hughes. If this helps land Mike, I say good deal.

Hughes is a solid punter too. That could be a huge threat! He and Samuels back there on 4th down would drive teams crazy.

When we ran the fake punt, the punter and two blockers went one way and Samuels went the other with the ball. It’s entirely different threat with Hughes back there than Baumann or another punter.

And redcanine, thanks for speaking up. Football season ain’t over just yet. 😉

The guy I want is Hughes. Let him play both ways — corner and whatever.

Hughes has recently said he wants to play both ways. So let him. He certainly wouldn’t be the first. Another poster on another thread (so it must be true, right?) commented that Hughes looked comfortable running the read option and could be the Wildcat that Canada would like to have. Yeah, yeah, I know. You never want to see the Wildcat again. Stop and think a moment: a legit passing threat, the extra blocker and Hughes’s speed and the Wildcat could be very interesting.

To answer the question, isn’t Jacoby (or whoever) a wasted player? No, absolutely not. Split him out and if the opp doesn’t honor him, throw to him. He can run, you know. His specialty seems to be faking LBs and DBs out of their supporters.

I’m clueless as to what it will take to move the football on CFU or stop them from moving the ball or scoring, but I have the deepest confidence that our coaches will figure all this out and make us all wonder what the heck were we worried about.

Now if I were a CFU kind of guy, I’d be sweating my arse off about this game. We’ve proved we can run the ball, pass the ball, punt the ball and kick-off and score the 3. We can stop the run and pass and cover punts and KO’s. That don’t leave much we can’t adequately do on the football field. Our biggest problem now seems to be how the heck can we give all our talent meaningful playing time. 😉

Doeren is coaching in a power 5 conference, at a school he is proud to be associated with, is living in an area he really likes. Where would he go that has more going for it than North Carolina State University? More money? What more could he buy with more money? The guy doesn’t seem to have the ego to drive him to be the 5th highest (or highest) paid coach in the country.

The cynics that frequent these boards don’t believe him when he said that he was choosing us, not us choosing him. He also said he was here to build a national champion. I took him at his word, that is I believed he was serious when he said that. I’m now beginning believe that he just might do that.

God bless Larry Fedora! I thank him for all he is doing to make that happen here at NC State. Have another Red Bull on me, Larry.

How do you sell a North Carolina kid to play against auburn, miss st, Georgia, usc team for four years

Give John Wall a call, he might be able to give you an answer… Oh wait, you said 4 years.

Forgot to mention Samuels. He’s our H back. Now let those O coaches design some stuff that puts the ball in his hands more often.

I hope some of those RB’s can play D or catch really well or they will be getting a lot of bench time.

I had a thought similar to this then I looked at it from a different point of view.

Thornton is rumored to be joining the draft which leaves Dayes and 4th stringer, Nichols. We have one RB commit — Reggie Gallaspy. IMO Hines is a slot receiver who will be used in the jet sweep and other plays designed to use his speed. Frazier, if he elects to commit, is RB competition for Gallaspy. Yes it would be an embarrassment of riches but what a great problem to have.

What a problem! For the next 4 years to have Frazier and Gallaspy competing for RB time.

I had a weird thought. Is Love waiting to see if Hines commits? If Hines does commit, Love wouldn’t want his second choices knowing they were second choices and he commits wherever.

The guy I want is Hughes. Let him play both ways — corner and whatever. His Soph year he could be the running QB Doeren likes to have. I also could see him being the Reggie Bush of NC State without being on the take.

Is Doeren a candidate or is he on somebody’s wish list? I never thought of DD as being stupid. Hasn’t he been around Wisconsin Athletics? Doeren likes bass fishing, not ice fishing.

with even marginal success in football we could easily (IMO many of us are already there) make football our primary focus.

    I resemble that remark

“Once is luck. Twice is coincidence. Three times is skill” or so goes an old coaching adage. I believe the same applies to coaches. This is Doeren’s ‘luck’ year with the GSU fumble on the 1 yard line and McKever’s pick six. we are somewhat lucky to be bowling. If we improve even considerably it will be his ‘coincidence’ year. With continued progress in his 4th year will be his ‘skill’ year.

Remember Lou Holtz? IIRC He left after his 4th year. Of course there are exceptions to any rule.

Having said all that I believe Doeren when he said ‘he picked us. We didn’t pick him. As he said he came to North Carolina on his own dime to vacation, especially to bass fish. Where else can he jam with the Chancellor on his guitar. (Well, Holden Thorpe but that ain’t gonna happen.) He has young sons and Doeren, just like the hockey players, sees this area as a great place to live and to raise a family. He is one of us.

I believe that Doeren will be our head coach as long as we will have him. No offense intended nav, but if we think Doeren is going to run for a ‘bigger’ program, we need to look at our own values. I also think it disrespects him and his word to say he’ll run. IF and that’s a big IF he intends to leave, his stock will be much higher after he makes us a nationally relevant program than a mere 10 win season.

I know the negative nellies think it can’t be done. Well, look at Baylor, TCU. Utah, etc., and tell me it can’t be done.

It didn’t take long for DD to go head to head with the big boys… Get or not get Frazier, this is a good sign. I hope Debbie has got the bucks stashed away to pay the assistants who are out there doing the work along with Doeren. Those guys are getting it done on the practice field as well.

    Alternate plan:
Create eight 16-team conferences. Each conference has a Major Division and a Minor Division. At the end of each season, relegate 2 “major” teams to the Minor Division and promote 2 Minors to the Major Division. Keep the playoffs the same.

This should keep the strong Mid-majors happy and help keep the geographics under control.
