GreywolfParticipant
Top Gun, Thanks for a very entertaining post. I’m 78 and I feel fortunate if I wake up on the “good” side of the grass in the morning.
I would like to lower my sex drive — about 30 inches down from my head. 😉
GreywolfParticipantO’Brien had a dry wit. Some of my favorite sound bites are TOB putting the needle to the Kerowhiners.
I read a lot of disrespect and dislike for TOB. IMO TOB was a good man who came to NC State a few years too late in his career.
GreywolfParticipantBetter downfield accuracy? Jacoby delivered a perfectly thrown ball that Ramos first hesitated on then stumble slightly and couldn’t recover to make an effort on the ball.
“(5) And, of course, can State stretch the field on offense? and can Jacoby Brissett complement his good decision-making and efficiency with better downfield accuracy?”
State accomplished exactly what we attempted to accomplish which was keep Troy off the field. “Stretching the field” is a cliche’ that did not apply vs. Troy. You don’t throw deep to control the clock.
I for one will be interested to see what strategy Matt Canada has cooked up for EKU. Maybe stretching the field will be part of the strategy. I’d like to see that along with Hines catching and running underneath routes.
Two true freshmen I expect to see more of and earlier this week are Reggie Gallaspy and “Big E” Bryant. For shytz and giggles I’d like to see “Big E” run the ball in a short yardage, goal line situation.
GreywolfParticipantWhat has NFL Scouts looking got to do with posting his stats?
“He’s definitely got NFL scouts looking, although I’d wait until after we play Louisville before posting his stats.”
Has you rather go to New York or by bus?

Back in the Earl Edwards days IIRC it was all white on the road and white, red, white at home.
Some folks like the all red unis occasionally. I’m OK with the absence of light non-color (black) with red trim if the players want to wear it occasionally. Actually the black jersey we have looked pretty good paired up with red pants vs. Wake Forest last year.
I think we do a pretty good job of uniform combinations. I’m getting the idea that Doeren goes to the leadership council with some ideas and they usually go along with him.
I don’t want to copy Alabama with their combos or Penn State with their “no-names” work uniform look. I’m OK with State being State. The coaches and players seem to be making pretty good choices.
Go Pack!

BTW Does this model come with blonde hair and a Handicap-blue dress?
GreywolfParticipant@RedReid
Of course I was kidding about Alabama falling off. That’s what the smiley was for. Were you kidding about Alabama only having 2 uniform combos?
GreywolfParticipantIf the game is in the afternoon, it’s a real bad idea. Clemson will be wearing white, reflecting the sun while our black absorbs the sun making the unis like hot houses.
GreywolfParticipant“Why wear black so early in the season when it is still hot? Seems like we’d wait for a cooler game.”
Virginia,
I know you weren’t asking but here’s an answer anyway. Black soaks up sun rays. The youth soccer team I coached wore new red jerseys with black numbers in a tournament in Texas. The game started at 2 PM and the sun was blazing hot. After the game most of the guys pulled off the jerseys and their backs had red numbers burned on.
I don’t think our black jerseys will be hotter in the evening than the red ones. I’d be concerned if the game was at noon or even 3. Better to wear them now than risk wearing them in an early afternoon game.
GreywolfParticipantRedReid says,
“Alabama has 2 uniform combos”I would say that the minimum number of combinations is 4 if they only have red helmets or 8 if they have both red and white helmets.
The way Alabama’s been falling off lately, we may see a black uni and 27 combinations soon. 😉
GreywolfParticipant“With State’s weak OOC schedule, we won’t know much for a while.”
For sure we won’t know much about how our reserves play in front of a crowd.
GreywolfParticipantYou know, like how the Wolfpack played in 2013 was a perfect indicator of how they would play in 2014. We should always look in the rear view mirror to see where we are going.
GreywolfParticipantThe top 10 softest Power-5 non-conference schedules in 2015
We have a winner — the 1000th poster to post that this year’s Wolfpack schedule is the softest of all P-5 teams.
Not exactly relevant to the OP:
“Question: What’s best for the long term interest of the NCS football program? Scheduling the first game of the year with a “cupcake” like Troy Univ. for example and win convincingly, OR do like Va. Tech did and schedule a national power and lose, but not embarrassingly? Remember, Va. Tech did the same thing last year and beat OSU. Don’t forget, I said “long term interest”.”But if you get a chance to take a shot at the schedule, do it.
GreywolfParticipant[]1967: we beat Houston (ranked #2) in the Astrodome; State eventually rose to #3 in the polls until losing to Clemson. Actually it was the loss to Penn State the prior week followed by the loss to Clemson. Many people think we lost 2 games that day. The PSU game was shown on the big screen in Reynolds. We were 4th and 1 on the goal line on a great hit by PSU LB Dennis Onkontz(sp).
But I admire coaches like Frank Beamer who are not afraid to take on the mighty Buckeyes two years in a row. OSU weren’t Natty champs when these games were scheduled. If you win or even play well and lose, the program benefits.[/quote]
09/09/2015 at 4:58 PM in reply to: NC State Football By The Numbers – Post Men Of Troy Edition #88475GreywolfParticipantThanks, WV Wolf. “How was your Red Zone defense?” We were 80% successful. They got in our RZ 5 times and scored 4 of the 5. “WTF?” 😉
09/09/2015 at 3:11 PM in reply to: NC State Football By The Numbers – Post Men Of Troy Edition #88471GreywolfParticipantRed Zone Defense: 100.0% (9, 62)
I have proven time and time again that I don’t diddly squat about statistics but how can our Red Zone Defense be 100.0%. Troy scored from the 3, which is in the RZ. Help me here, please.
GreywolfParticipantIf Gate 6 (main gate on east side of Murphy Center) is students only, what gate is easily accessible to everyone from Stadium SE and Trinity lots? Seems stupid to limit the main gate to students only
As it turned out what would have been really stupid would have been everyone from Stadium SE and Trinity lots joining the student crush and trying to get in the stadium before kick-off.
GreywolfParticipantIf and that’s a BIG IF or when we can schedule OSU, TCU. Alabama or Oregon on national TV on a home and home basis, then absolutely go for it. The exposure, money etc., will make the loss or losses worth it.
The problem I see is every other NCSU look-a-like is trying to so the same thing. If any of us has the personal connections to call one of these ADs and arrange such a game, I’m sure Debbie would deeply appreciate it — probably have you and yours sit up in Vaughn Towers while you tell her the details and watch some football in good old C-F.
While I’m on a roll, we need to stop talking like State is the only P-5 school scheduling so-called cupcakes. It makes us look uninformed and ignorant.
.
GreywolfParticipantGood solid win. etc…
foose, what did you think of Bryant? IMO he will be getting more reps in practice and brought along a little faster than was originally planned. Doeren joked early on that “Big E” could take care of the A & B gaps by himself. Apparently Big E didn’t realize he was joking. I’d like to see him try running in short yardage situations. He did that in HS.
GreywolfParticipant^ It was moist. And the speakers were at their finest, enhanced static.
They need to either turn the volume up and blow the speakers all the way out OR turn it down to keep from blowing them out.
GreywolfParticipantWhat tractor57 said.
GreywolfParticipantYou want to make game day enhancements? Put some of those dancing girls (long, tight, black pants) back on the sidelines in the northwest corner of the end zone. 🙂
09/03/2015 at 12:06 PM in reply to: CFB 2015 Starts THIS Week: What do you expect from the Pack? #88190GreywolfParticipantIf the holes can be enthusiastic with that bunch of losers, we ought to be ecstatic.
Put down the rear view mirror and look out of the front of your faces. This is the first of many exciting Wolfpack seasons. I’m going with Mr. Dog — whatever he says works for me. 🙂
.
GreywolfParticipantThe players pick the unis and I’m good with whatever they want to wear. Go Pack!
