GreywolfParticipant
fwiw… not that anybody cares…. in 1993, your’s truly… old BOTB was elected to public office in North Carolina… the first time.
I ran for the City Limits one time. I’d have made it if I’d been unopposed.
GreywolfParticipantDoes Dave Doeren have a transfer problem?
I’ve been away too long. What does this mean? Finley transferred in. Is that a problem?
If you like your football coach you can keep your football coach, for less.
Or this?
GreywolfParticipantA couple of disagreements I want to voice and some i’m not going to say anything == maybe. (What the heck did you expect?) Ryan Finley was the starting QB for Boise State before he suffered a season-ending injury. That doesn’t sound like mediocrity to me.
How many preseason All-ACC players Clemson, FSU and L’ville have ONLY indicates difficulty in winning the Atlantic. not what kind of team or players WE have.
GreywolfParticipantBeen great. Thanks for asking. Hope you’ve been well too. Maybe now that football is here again, you’ll see more of me again. 😉
GreywolfParticipantThe real value of Ryan Finley IMO is his knowing the offense and therefore leading the player run 7v7 drills. Meyers could be a real sleeper for starter.
Stephen Louis will be the go-to possession receiver and we will not miss Ramos.
And finally don’t sell the O-line short just yet. We got us one of the best O-line coaches in the business.GreywolfParticipant^ Yes. You do come across as a complete assh#le.
Pretty much from day one.
Mr. Dog, tell us what you really think. 😉
GreywolfParticipantAfter the way Mary whipped our arse, I wouldn’t be surprised at anything.
Gott brings in the talent but IMO he does less with more than anyone I know of.
GreywolfParticipantJacoby Brisset was exactly what this young team needed for the first two “real years” of the Dave Doeren era at NC State. He is upbeat, mature, and a very good leader. His “red shirt year” he was a team leader running the scout team. I’m sorry he’s banged up and that we are not having a great senior year for him. IMO he deserves better.
Several people said before this year started that we could be improved and not have as good a record as last year. Looking at our D-line, RBs, and the skill, athleticism and speed being red shirted this could be true even if it’s hard to translate into a numerical value.
Before you go to the bathroom and celebrate how great Carolina’s D is, consider this: NC State is ranked nationally about 20 places higher nationally than the holes and we are higher ranked in rushing defense than the holes. The holes do out rank us in pass defense. Perhaps the holes being so prolific on offense is making the defense look better than it is. Even if they were better than our D, I don’t want Cheesestix on our campus being the poster boy for “We don’t care how we do it, just win, baby.”
GreywolfParticipantbut like others it beats the tenure of Sidney Lowe or Les Robinson
and doesn’t approach the tenure of Everett Case, Norm Sloan or Jimmy V.
Comparing Gott to Lowe and Robinson? I’d say we set the bar pretty low.
And for those of you who wanted to dismiss football season and get on with basketball, how’s that working for you?
GreywolfParticipantIt wasn’t all bad. I though we handled William pretty good.
GreywolfParticipantLouisville and VT were disappointments. That in and of itself is a sign of progress. We are red shirting 2 4-star recruits which IMO is also a sign of progress. 2 of the fastest players in the state are also red shirting. That we don’t have to play every decent freshman we have is IMO a sign of progress.
If you had to bet on or against Doeren, where would you put your money?
(One thing we have now that we didn’t have when Holtz and Sheridan were here is a Chancellor and AD who are committed to NC State athletics.)
GreywolfParticipantI do think we’re making progress, but Wake and BC are Sun Belt level teams this season.
Sun Belt level team #1 ranked defense in the nation? Wow.
GreywolfParticipantSamuels is a quality RB but for the sake of our program I hope Nichols and Gallaspy have breakthrough games. A nice mix of JaySam, Nichols and RGII — all being successful — along with Grinnage and Hines contributing should be all it will take to bring home a win. Spread the rest of the catches among Cherry, Alston, Ramos, Trowell and Cook. And for God’s sake throw it up field.
GreywolfParticipantThere are managers and trainers in that group. I wouldn’t think there would be a limit to the number of trainers and managers.
GreywolfParticipantIf I were Chancellor at EweNC (and I’m not and won’t be) I think I would have Roy come in for a “come to Jesus” meeting about what responsibility entails — beginning with the meaning of the word. He’s not responsible, he’s “in charge” of what he wants to be in charge of without the burden of responsibility.
Oh the other hand nobody seems to be responsible over there. Not the Chancellor, not the BOT and not the BOG. The only people responsible for anything are the academic support people and they are responsible for keeping athletes eligible at any cost.
GreywolfParticipant“Absolutely no reason that I can imagine we go away from our running game when we tally 157 yards on the ground in the first quarter.”
Why would you want to reveal you lack of football imagination by making such a statement? There are few if any teams on the remainder of our schedule that we can overpower at the LOS. If we are to win we must have an efficient short and intermediate passing game.
What better time to work on this than leading by 4 TDs? There is nothing, zero, nada, zilch to be gained by running up the score against Wake except to placate a few a few short-sighted fans.
GreywolfParticipantI see you’re not keeping up with PC etiquette. You just offended several ‘communities’.
Not only did I offend several ‘communities’, I likely got the spelling police on my arse. 😉
“I
knownow pronounce youman and wifetop and bottom.”For some reason I don’t think this is better. 🙁
GreywolfParticipantThey are healthy, prepared, and a superior team.
Let’s not go overboard now.
I take it that redisgood isn’t reporting on the state of our team but is speaking something into existence — a declaration like “I know pronounce you man and wife.” Before the preacher declared them man and wife, they weren’t.
Now do I know that’s what redisgood was doing? Nope, but I like my interpretation. So let the team that shows up in Winston Salem Saturday be “healthy, prepared, and a superior team.”
Can I get an “Amen?”

.10/22/2015 at 2:40 PM in reply to: Rick Pitino Denies Knowing About Hooker for Team & Recruits #90671GreywolfParticipantAs Richard Pryor might say, “I have no knowledge of any hookers, but if there is any, I wants a cut.”
GreywolfParticipant“Attendance won’t be an issue, buddy. Day or night. Gamecock fans all over the place. Same for State.”
With ticket prices ranging from $100 to $250 I wouldn’t be so sure.
GreywolfParticipantI hope this game is at night. The glare off the aluminum will be blinding.
Huh?
If it is played in the day light with the sun out. Sorry, I forgot where I was posting.
GreywolfParticipantI hope this game is at night. The glare off the aluminum will be blinding.
Who’s going to see this wonderful match-up?
CheapestLeast expensive tickets in the upper deck will be about $100 with tickets worth a squat will cost about $250.I hope whoever is financing this game is making plenty of money off the TV rights.
GreywolfParticipantI’ve read through the posts, some twice, and most make sense — under normal conditions. Little mention is made of suddenly losing one of the senior leaders, Shadrach Thornton. Think about how it was for you at work during the time leading up to a divorce or right after you suddenly lost your dad or spouse.
Suddenly losing Shad is a big deal to his teammates. It will take more than a day or two to work through the grief process. Shad ain’t coming back. It will take time to work though this. Some of you will dismiss this notion but it is as real as a heart attack.
Hopefully the four weeks prior to the Wake game will be sufficient. This is the thinking of someone pretty high up on the food chain at NCSU athletics. She knows from personal experience how this can affect you.
GreywolfParticipant“Grey: I hear you and I’d have said that if we’d have come out flat and gotten down. We didn’t. We got out hot, got up and the it unraveled. Not so sure….”
Ryebread,
IMO the first quarter reflected Doeren getting them ready to play. Just not sustainable. The 3rd quarter reflected Doeren getting the team back up. Again, just not sustainable as that emotional energy drops back down. The bad calls, the silly penalties, the play call gaffes, the rookie mistakes, all of that crap, it’s all over. The rest of the season we will see the team we were all excited about. Well, nearly all.
The beating ourselves stops in Winston-Salem.
.That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. :p
GreywolfParticipantSo, Playboy is getting out of the snatch market and getting in a nitch market? 🙂
For those disappointed in the VT game, that game may have been lost the week before. How so? The players really thought they had a shot at the Division championship. Sports history is full of examples of teams not being able to get up for the next game after losing a big and meaningful game. We did this in ’67 when we were ranked #3 and lost to Penn State when we couldn’t get in from the 1 on 4th down. The next week at Clemson we lost a game we would not have lost earlier.
The bye comes at a perfect time. We can recover emotionally, put the mistakes behind us, the silly penalties, the apparent lack of effort which I attribute to the emotional downer.
