Reading this and other sites about how awful it is to be playing Vandy in Shreveport reminds me of the father complaining about his ugly daughter’s fiancee (or is it financee.) She’s ugly, has no social skills, no tits, nothing and he’s complaining about her future husband not being good enough for her.

You want to visit Annapolis? Book a trip and go but don’t complain because the football team wants to play an SEC opponent. IMO Vandy is a good match up for State. Either team could win and both expect to.

I just saw the thread about what’s wrong with the defense and opened it with my hair on fire. Oh, it’s about basketball. You take it Rick. (Rick and I have something in common. He watched 30 minutes of football. I watch about that much basketball. I just can’t stand to watch piss poor defense.)

Hate to mention it, but this is a team that could be real good next year

WTF? Is this a football thread?

    Grey?

    McCallum

If she was driving Grey how fast do you think she could go?

I don’t know how fast the blonde could go but I’d be going lick-i-ty split.

    Like I said…

For or against Doeren you must admit, he’s got us talking our arses off on this and other boards.

I see improvement (sort of like with Cut has done at Duke)

Speaking of Cut and Duke, Cut started with a 4-8 (1-7) W/L his first year and now his 9th year it’s what? 8-4 (7-1)? No, it’s 4-8 (1-7). Not much improvement is it?

The problem with Doeren as I see it is he does too much stuff well. Makes for a real problem just looking at his record. For or against Doeren you must admit, he’s got us talking our arses off on this and other boards. 😉

Me? I’m in a wait and see mode. I’m betting on the guy to make it. Oh well, we’ll just have to wait and see. 😉

After listening to his post game yesterday there is no doubt he will hit the road at the first opportunity.

Maybe but maybe he’ll get over that awful article in the Technician. That’s a toughie. Your student newspaper calling for him to be thrown to the wolves. It’s one thing for a bunch of board monkeys to want you gone, it’s another thing altogether for you school newspaper to do it.

Dave is a good man if nothing else. Maybe he’s bigger than we think.

You have to laugh, the holea have Chikslit for DC and we have Hux. Which team has the 4-star athletes and the big deal DC? It ain’t State yet that no count Hux has his D playing much better. Hux is like the “dumb” kid in school. No matter how well he does, it ain’t good enough for a good grade.

I think it’s ironic that defense won the day. We finally got in my favorite offense at the end of the game — the victory formation.

I don’t think he will be remembered as a Dick Sheridan….MAYBE an Earl Edwards…(3 yds and a cloud of dust and quick kick on a 3rd and long).

You show your ignorance of Earle Edwards when you left the “e” off his name. You mean the Earle, the one who got his team as high as number 3 in the nation? That same Earle who won a half dozen (or maybe just 5) ACC championships? The same Earle Edwards who had 3 All-Americas in one year on his team?

3 yards and a clowd of dust my arse. If and I think that is a big IF you were in Riddick Stadium getting splinters in your butt watching Earle’s Wolfpack you didn’t see many 3rd and longs or quick kicks. FYI worrying that a team might quick kick makes 3rd and long a little more manageable.

Earle’s success is what gave the Carter Stadium idea its real boost. So read up on it before you make snarky remarks about Earle Edwards where I can read them.

For full disclosure I must admit that Earle’s son, Bob, was in my class in HS and we were friends and Earle and my mother shared the same retirement home for a spell.

There, I feel better now and Alias won’t be disappointed that I didn’t get my feathers ruffled over SOMETHING here on SFN. 😉

Where the hell is Greywolf? Differences aside, that ole curmudgeon won’t even stop by after a win over evil?

I’m here and I read the comments. I have a friend over to watch the game so I don’t usually post during the game. If I had known I would have to have watched it on the Tarhole Network, I might have gone to the game.

We saw today what Wolfpack football can be like with Drinkwitz calling the game. Have to give ole Dave some credit there, turning the play calling over to young Eli. Hux deserves a shout out also. That was a pretty high scoring offense we shut down most of the day. It ain’t like he’s got a boat load of 4 and 5-star DBs competing for positions.

Don’t get me wrong I would like to see a young DC with an aggressive attitude come in with an attacking defense but I don’t fault Hux for not putting a defense together with what he’s had to work with.

Now here comes the part you’ve been expecting. Everybody is all gaga over the great program that Fraudora has put together over at the dump on the hump. Well, he had to pull 2 games out of his arse to be 8-4 — one was with a great 56 yard Goal. We lost enough due to our field goal ineptness, to damn near qualify for the championship series.

Without Chikclit for our DC we have managed a far better defense than the holes. We still have a ways to go offensively without a 4-star QB. But the gap in the programs ain’t all that big.

As far as HC’s are concerned which one called a timeout on the 3 yard line and sent in a trick play that failed?

Our HC is like the kid in school that the teacher thinks is dumb and grades his paper accordingly. Did it ever occur to anyone here that because you don’t understand a coaches decision, that doesn’t automatically make it a bonehead decision?

As far as Mr. Dog is concerned, we go way back. And yes, he and his have been to a hockey game with me and mine. 🙂

Mr. Dog, you corrected a misconception I’ve had about that game. I thought the bustards held Willie and he couldn’t get out for the pass. Didn’t know (or have any way of knowing) it was intended for Charlie Young. Willie was held, he just wasn’t the intended receiver.

I’ve been a State fan for a little over 70 years and can’t remember when I first “shunned” the Handicapped blue. I’ve always heard that North Carolina was a valley of humility between 2 mountains of conceit — South Carolina and Virginia. I never realized that Chapel Hill had sucked all the arrogance out of the rest of the state.

Anyone who has ever been to a game in Kenan knows the standard yell when the holes gain more than 3 yards: How ’bout dem heels!’ Took my 9 year old daughter to a game there when Ralph Stringer was moved to CB from RB after he lost an eye. The holes were whipping up on us pretty good when Ralph intercepted and took it to the house.

In the ensuing quiet, Margot stood and in her inimitable 9 y.o. falsetto, let out one of those “How ’bout dem heels.” I’m not sure where she learned to mock the holes, but I have a pretty good idea. It sure made my day and my memory of it is crystal clear 40 years later.

Thanks for your story and the nudging to remember some of my own, Mr. Dog.

At the risk of being called a straggler…living in Candyland…call me what you will…but I still have not turned against DD. I look at the depth chart for the game on Friday, and we are loaded for next year. For every senior we have starting, which are but a few, we have more than capable back ups, with the possible exception of center. And I believe we are building good depth on the offensive line too. I know we have a highly regarded kicker coming.

I have a feeling that DD is very good at building a program. He has improved every facet of recruiting, relationships with high schools, and it seems building team chemistry. He just has not proven that he is good at coaching the game. I always felt the same about Mack Brown. He could never coach a lick, but he sure knew how to get good players. He finally figured out to stay out of the way and let his coaches coach. Maybe that is right or wrong but it is my perception.

I value loyalty very highly, because I appreciate people who are loyal to me. I believe DD has poured his heart into making us successful and I am loyal to him because of it. Of course, I felt the same way about TOB so that is just the way I am. I like being loyal, and I like honoring contracts.

I really do believe we are just that close to breaking through and competing for championships. I am hoping we can begin that climb on Friday. But even if we don’t, I still believe we will have a team next year that can compete and beat anyone on our schedule.

All of the above for me too.

I do think that Doeren is imposing his offensive philosophy on Drink and it’s costing us what we paid for with Drink — an innovative offense capable of scoring a lot of points. Drink was hired because of the offense at his 2 previous schools. We are now ranked #86 nationally. Reading what Doeren has said about offense and connecting the dots has me convinced that Drink is at a minimum inhibited.

Before cable TV most east coast games started at 1:00 PM. Just another example of roughing it in the good ole days.

I don’t know how we managed it. This new crop of old timers has no idea what we went through to be a Pack fan. 😉

We need to not only win, but kick a little ass to get our swagger back. That’s important for the stretch run.

    Kill, kill, kill.

You know those O-linemen are embarrassed and intending to redeem themselves.

Prescod who replaced Richardson for the L’ville game was State’s highest graded O-lineman. He’s lost 25 pounds since the end of last season and looks to be in terrific shape for the first time he’s been here. Could be interesting.

our offense has to play much better than it did vs Louisville for the first 2 quarter or we could be heading for humiliation.

L’ville looked like they knew what play we were going to run in the first 2 quarters when we were trying to run the ball.
When we were forced to pass, they weren’t as fortunate. Knowing a team is going to pass (unless it’s designated) isn’t the same as knowing the play when a team is going to rush.

Here’s an interesting article to do with stealing signs, i.e., play calls:

    http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2016/10/21/13350688/mike-leach-todd-graham-handshake-video-asu-washington-state

Hurry up offense might thwart the benefit of signal stealing.

I don’t fault BAMBARD for missing the FGs at ECU and Clemson…

And it’s a good thing because Bambard wasn’t the kicker for the ECU game.

If Bambard is the best kicker we have, then go with him. I’m more concerned with the confidence that the rest of the players have. And the confidence the coaches have in the play-calling.

My own confidence needs a shot in the arm as well. After the ND and Clemson games I thought we were in good shape team wise to win 8 or 9 games. I dropped down to 6 or 7 after L’ville.

NOW, if any of you think State has a rat’s ass chance in hell of beating ClemPson then you are more insane than I am. Their defensive line will eat up State’s front, their wide outs will gain space and allow Deyshawn to do most whatever he wants to do.

You’ve been reading too much of TheAliasTroll’s crap… or maybe your own. 😉

So I guess the next big question is who is going to replace Huxtable to “right the ship” for the crappy defense while DD is on the hot seat? If he gets another season…

    This is rich.

Are you sure you’re not a 8 year old who found grand pappy’s laptop open? Because you sound a lot like an 8 year old.

    Pot,

If I was an 8 year old, I would have thought Clemson was going to hang 50 on our defense.

    Have a nice day,

Pretty weak admission you were wrong about the defense but it seems you’ve seen the light. 🙂

Regarding clock management at the end of the game – it was damn close to perfect. It would have been perfect if we had a stronger kicking game.

    Ny thoughts exactly.

Love the win today (thank you mother nature) but Clemson hangs 50+ on Hux a week from now. Louisville will set NCAA records.

Yeah, it’s too bad ND had to play in the weather and the Pack didn’t.

Wanna put your money where your mouth is?
How about a C-note on Clemson hanging 50 on our defense and say 3 on L’ville setting NCAA records? Dog, will you hold the money?

I realize 3 C-notes want cover your mouth. If the money is too much, let’s do it this way: if Clemson hangs 50 on us, I’ll stay away from these boards for a week. If not, you refrain from commenting for the week?
