ParticipantNot there but watching intently. Pack gets on the board first. 1-0 top of the first. 1 out.
Gowolves
ParticipantPack is serving up a plethora of hits and not even out of the first. Pretty ugly for the red team.

ParticipantPM me. I have come across a stash of tickets from the mid to late 1950’s

ParticipantDamn, this bull pen!

ParticipantDon’t get why Avent came into the 9th with O’Donnell. He sat too long during the eight.
Gowolves
ParticipantPutting the hammer to the Tigers! Inside the park grand slam! Hope the centerfielder is ok?
7 runs in the bottom of the eighth to blow it open..

ParticipantThe expectations were there for the basketball team last year just like football this coming season. I am VERY cautious about getting too hyped about the press they have been getting. Been there done that… a lot. Definition of insanity.
Gowolves
ParticipantGrey, I hope you are right. I was big on last seasons basketball team. I thought they had all the right pieces. EVERYTHING!. Then they played like complete sh*t. Looking back on that season there is still no reason why that team should have flopped. Except one, Gottfried. He completely f*cked the season all by himself. I hope this staff can coach. The talent is there.

ParticipantLike Rick says, if you became a Top 25 by talent alone, then Sid and Gott would have done it with ease. Recruiting has never, ever been a problem here…which is again, why I scratch my head at DY/WM being dazzled by a recruiter-type instead of a proven tactician/motivator.
When Keatts was at Hargrove he practically had a new team every year from what I read. I get it that we are talking Hargrove but to motivate new players every year and have a winning percentage of 90% plus then somehow he is getting these kids to buy in.
I am not sure I buy this but we shall see.
My point I was trying to make is that Keatts isn’t just a recruiting magician as it was stated above. He was able to get 6 to 8 guys EVERY year to learn the system and play the way he wanted them to play. Win at a high level. Again every year it was a different squad. You and others make valid point that past success doesn’t guarantee future success. All I am saying is Keatts has a lot going for him. This is not a bad hire in my opinion.

Participantmove on to other challenges.. but not step up..
HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA
Yes.
Gowolves
ParticipantGotcha, but let me ask you this question.
If you are worried about how this looks with our boards moaning about being scorned why continue a thread that says something to the effect The millers to suck it? Then we sit around and question why Mr. Miller would say something so bad about athletic program.
Where I’m from water is still wet.
Gowolves
ParticipantThat first sentence completely false. If he wins here then he can leave for different challenge but not a step up. If that happens our job is that more attractive.
LOL, okay man. Thanks for the fact check! You must work at Snopes too.
Now hear this! Gowolves pronounces us THE destination job. No step up from here.. 2-3 mil is the pinnacle of achievement for any and all college coaches.
Your wit is amazing. Just so impressed.

ParticipantMost ADs wouldn’t interview a low-major coach who JUST HAPPENS to be a major donor’s buddy and stop there. Ours did. Take from that what you will. YMMV.
I’m afraid you don’t know how life works. I think you shouldn’t be surprised. Money and power holds the cards.
Things just got interesting.
Gowolves…any closer to a personal attack and things will get more interesting.I let BJD defend himself from here tho…..
Just busting chops. It’s not personal. I’m just calling bull*hit when I see it. He knows money talks if what he said is true regarding interviewing a big donors buddy.
Gowolves
ParticipantThe problem is EVEN If Kevin Keatts does turn out to be a hall of fame coach we’ll be a stepping stone for him. If he manages to get us to an elite 8 he’s out of here. You get what you pay for and it is abundantly clear we’re unwilling/unable to dish out the cash. I personally don’t think this will ever be an issue, but if it comes to that you guys mark this post down.
I had the false hope that Archie really wanted to be here. He was our best shot at possibly obtaining a HOF caliber coach AND keeping him around for a long time (again, based on the assumption that this was where he REALLY wanted to be).

ParticipantShe places a great deal of “faith” in personality. Ironically, she has a similar viewpoint to many of our fans who are enamoured with “swagger” and the “it” factor. If I were to wax poetic with her on the effectiveness on coaching I would probably surmise that both Dean and Coach K would have likely failed that test. (As would Bill Belicheck.)
Well put and this is the part that blows me away. And why I liked Wade. Obsessive competitiveness over expert shmooser.
Excellent points. I think Keatts has a little of both. This gives him the great ability to recruit and the obsessive work ethic. The mentality that the other team will not be in better condition than our team.

ParticipantOr a travel.

ParticipantHow was that not a charge?

ParticipantBoy that was a real late call. UNC refs!

ParticipantIs it me or do the Holes get a personal invite to the Sweet 16 every year? With valet parking…
Nope, you are correct, they seem to have an easy path every year. Duke deserved that #1 seed more than the Holes in my opinion if you look at their respective resumes. It is what it is I guess.
Duke lost three of four games before the tournament. Carolina won the league over several months. No way Duke deserves a number one seed for getting hot for three days. Especially considering they won two of those tournament games when A key Louisville and a key Carolina player got in foul trouble and made life easier for Duke.

ParticipantThis sucks.
Yow screwed up again.
Another coach with no defense or morals. Please let us all know what you have learned about Mr. Keatts morals.
Gowolves
ParticipantWell said! Welcome Mr. Keatts!

ParticipantWithin 5 years a ACC championship. That’s the fine I’m predicting.
