Beej, I have that same optimism. This team is a lot more mature at every position. I think our transition game will be the best its been since Gott has been here. ALMKH knows that if gets out on breaks he will get feed a healthy dose of dunks and easy buckets. I am really excited to have a group of freshman we don’t have to rely on. Let them grow without the pressure to carry a team with crazy expectations. I think this team will surprise a lot of people. Nobody here but the national blow hards. Let’s hope there are no chemistry issues or “beefs” with other teammates boiling under the surface.
While our local radio sports dork who MC’d the event still continues to wear his members only jacket from the 80’s.

NCSU87, Well for one reason he didn’t go pro last was because NFL rules doesn’t allow him to enter the draft until after his third year. I don’t think it’s ok that he screwed his teammates by being selfish. I am tired of hearing about the plight of college student athlete. Oooooh you have it so bad. (sarcasm) Makes me sick. He knew it was wrong and yet he did it anyway. The good news is that some other players contacted by this snake of business man said no. So all is not lost in this “me” generation!
This was supposed to be the game where we could tell what this team is made of. I have to say it was not surprising. Disappointing but not surprising. This team has no heart on defense. I don’t think I have seen more arm tackling and players completly in the wrong place. Add to the fact there is no talent whatsoever. This will be a long season and DD will have to change coordinators in the offseason. This may sound crazy but bring Amato back as DC. As long he understands the chain of command and accepts it. I thought we had one more win but after seeing other teams play today we will be lucky to win one more! I am dead f*cking serious!
GP17, there is no talent on the defense side of the ball I don’t care what anyone says. At least he can recruit in the manner of, “Come here and you will play immediately”.

I disagree, VAW82, I think the offense is better than average. Great young corp of receivers. Experienced RB’s. Best OL in a while. They just ran into a great defense and let FSU beat them twice.
Now as far as the defense I couldn’t agree more. I knew this season would hinge on the D. I could tell this from the spring game. Nobody thought we would beat FSU or Clemson. Not like these were “expected” wins to start the season. Yes one of the two games was crap. Just like one of the two games was a great effort. The first four games didn’t tell us much if anything. I am not prepared to say the season is lost. People act like this was unexpected. I don’t think you are saying that either but it sure smells of doom.
Like others have said the season really starts this Saturday with regards is this program improving? Sports are a bottom line business. Win or lose(within reason) is all that matters. We cannot accept moral victories in most of the remaining games but if they lose more than they win it doesn’t mean progress hasn’t been made. Rarely do teams turn around a 3-9 season to a 8-4 hell even 7-5 is tough. I think we have two more wins somewhere. I think that’s a realistic goal. Also a sign of some improvement even if two thirds of the wins came against cupcakes.
Another good story on what sounds like a good kid. I think he is going to be one to remember before he leaves the Pack.
I can’t imagine not being able to eat or drink after playing ball for three hours then weight training. Serious discipline.
