Let’s get back on track… Per Bleacher Report Abu is returning to run with the Pack. Has withdrawn his name from the draft. Great news!!
I know someone mentioned this but I want to give it more discussion.
Let’s say that the NCAA comes back and decides not to clear him. Maybe he took a little cash to support his family. Maybe his grades don’t translate to him being eligible his first year and since he is one and done he sits out and goes pro the next year. Let’s assume he is a really good student and good kid. Why not go to bat for him?
Someone said half heartedly to play him anyway. I say with all seriousness, yes do play him! I mean it. Ramifications and all. What’s the worst that could happen? We forfeit the games he played in? Hell we might lose those games if he doesn’t play. So what’s the next thing they could do? Ban us from the NCAA? Well let’s take a script from the UNC program. Let’s take this mess to court. Get a court injunction or self report some bogus allegation and extend the process a few more years. Tie it up for years to come. Fine the program? Set the money aside and let’s see how it unfolds. If at the end the Pack is found to be guilty then who cares. By that time we can self impose some post season ban that means absolutely nothing and hopefully by then the program will be up and running. This assumes that Gott can continue to recruit under the cloud of investigation. Gott isn’t Roy and NCSU isn’t UNC. Thank god! I say put all the chips in!
I am very serious about this. The NCAA is on it’s way out. Let’s keep the assault up.
Speech seemed sincere and inspirational to me. RW is a role model I would hope for my kids all day every day.. certainly better than Caitlyn Jenner, who I hear is in the running for ESPN’s come back player of the year award after reports he/she wants to become a man again.
I think I will stick with Rivers. Wilson can play fast and loose with the facts and I don’t care. We all know enough to figure out how it went down.
What I do not like is the mocking of TOB in a southern drawl. To infer that TOB is the white devil. The man that keeps him down. Yeah I know I am inferring a lot from the tone but listen to the speech. To insinuate that he is a racist or a bigot is a tough stain to remove. How do you prove you are not one? Count your friends? That’s the problem I have with the speech.
Wow, another year, another late rabbit out of the hat for Gott and Co. Makes you wonder when the late in the recruiting process luck will run out.
I hope you have s few sleepless nights wondering about this. When you find the answer please let us know.
Maybe RW graduated first in the class of The Michael Jordon School of perceived knocks whether they are real or not. There is a difference and I don’t believe he is that stupid. So what’s his end game to completely make sh*t up. Can’t lie that quote regarding his AB’s is damaging.

I try to balance my own stupidity and faith. Always a challenge. This teams deserves positive vibes.
I didn’t get a chance. Transistioned back to public accounting and I found a few justifications and rationalizations along the way. Hope to next year..

If he’s right then TOB has dementia. Why would you kick a QB off your college team just because they’re not going to play in the NFL. That’s just crazy talk. The kind of thing that starts with ‘True story bro….’ and DEFINITELY (didn’t) happen.
For argument sakes, what would be his (Russell’s)incentive to lie? I mean I’m not saying you are wrong. What if fifty percent were true? Yeah the other fifty is a lie, at the same time we know coaches can think highly of themselves. We all know the personality of TOB. He is a ex-Marine. But we know that’s not true. Once a Marine always a Marine. There is no ex. TOB has no reason to lie either. Not saying he did, it’s not out of the possibility he said some of those things. He doesn’t mince words. It’s not a lie if you believe it to be true. TOB is not high on himself. He’s a marine and he doesn’t lack conviction. Would be surprised if he didn’t. This seems to be an arguement between two people who have a lot of respect for each other but that’s where it ends. Who gets the benefit of the doubt?

Settle down, it’s ok. Just a minor hiccup. It’s not over, but the baseball gods don’t start watching until the tying run comes to the plate. Right now they are involved in other games.

Ok I know it’s early but it may be time to save some runs for tomorrow. Hard to do though when Clemson can’t get out of their own way.
It’s not unusual for the main blog posts to slow down once basketball ends. Once baseball ends I’ll take my (at least temporary?) leave as well.
But even if main blog is lagging, things such as the ANOA are usually being discussed on an as needed basis on the forums.

Who remembers Biff Pocoroba and Marty Perez?
I do remember Pocaroba. He was the back up catcher to Bruce “eggs” Benedict from those early Braves teams. Still can name that entire starting nine for the Braves back then. I remember when they traded Butler the center fielder. I was a kid and bummed they traded him.

I have thought about it all year. I am surprised it has taken this long to throw that out there. Reminds me of listening to the Braves back in the 80’s and 90’s. Loved Skip Carey and the puns and jokes he and PVW tossed around.
