botb Keatts was asked that question last night on his show and he said he wasn’t afraid to change up defenses during a game and he wasn’t opposed to using zone (and gave a couple of examples of when he had done that this season) but he said it is a function of the personnel you have, what your opponent has, and the situation.
I think we as fans don’t understand all the moving pieces sometimes and just want ‘something different’ when we don’t like what we see not realizing a change could make things worse instead of better.GoldenChainParticipantunx loses 2 in row to unranked teams. They will probably drop to like 12th next week…..
Oh and BTW our women beat their woman in xh last week too, 66-53.
GoldenChainParticipantI’m buying!
GoldenChainParticipantOmg! Cooking a whole hog with the boys but kept up with it on the game tracker. Roy wonder boy time to retire! And btw BITE ME!
GoldenChainParticipantCharacter always matters. Obviously it can be hard to judge the character of an 18 year old, but bad characters are not usually that difficult.
WTFReak? Thank you voice of ‘whatever’. And the school 25miles down the road has how many banners with how many players that were kept eligible by what fake class means?!
And spare me the self righteous ‘well if I can’t win fair and square’ BS. Everett Case didn’t live by that, he was a live by the sword die by it kind of competitor!
Thank you for being soft wooshie.GoldenChainParticipantNevermind…..
GoldenChainParticipantConsidering that I had to be alerted at halftime of the Dook game, the superstitious part of me says I should “watch” the game the same way tomorrow. Whatcha gonna do KK? I say feed Y7 early and often. Prop bets on how long it takes for him to get 2 fouls?
re:
My favorite band.
You’ve probably seen the Hyde Park performance, it’s worth another look – and not just for the violinist…

Not the same as Marshall Tucker’s Blue Shy but at least he’s playing a Gibson Les Paul!
GoldenChainParticipantWell we seem to get our wins at the strangest times. A Les Robinson team that couldn’t even inbound a ball and had DII players on it went over there and beat them by 20! A Sid Lowe team went in there and did the same, so who knows. Win big or loss big I won’t be surprised.
GoldenChainParticipantIs UVA somehow what the Herbster had in mind but wasn’t ever able to fully execute?!
Have to hand it to Bennet, if they get up by 5 forget it!GoldenChainParticipantTed Valentine has issued an apology to roywonderboy in advance for not fouling “Yurt the klutz” out sooner than halfway through the 1st half.
GoldenChainParticipantWell we’ve played three terrible games with no defense and just passing around outside and shooting 3’s we could’t hit. And we won two (come from behind) of them and one on the road!
Hope we get a AZ/Duke effort at the cheaters as I think they can be had because they aren’t as strong as their ranking.
Yeah based on what I see with what little he has to work with I LOVE Keatts! He’s doing more than Gott did with twice the tallent. Imagine if Smith Jr was on this team!
And man is UVA for REAL or what?! May be their year.GoldenChainParticipantWell what do you know?! Been waiting 28 seasons for a coach/team that knows how to play tenacious defense coupled with some offensive firepower! Praise Jesus he let me live long enough to see it.
One game does not a career make but Keatts definitely has these kids playing as a team. Seamless, they all seem to know where the other is going to be, no stupid TOs, 10 for the game which is great by NCSU standards.
And this PG?! Is he the real deal or what?!
GO PACK! BEAT Northern Iowa!
Nice article that sums up how I feel, this is a different look Pack:

GoldenChainParticipantI think we should just go to flag football and do away with all these had injuries….
GoldenChainParticipantWell the one consistent thing in the post-Sheridan/post-V era, NCSU will underperform their pick.
GoldenChainParticipantIs looking someone up and down sexual assault? This whole issue has gotten so crazy. Women (girls) dress like sluts and hoes so they look sexy, appealing, alluring, etc and soforth then when you make the slightest comment, suggestion, check-them-out they cry foul!
They want to use their sassy when its to their advantage then entrap you with it ….. when its to their advantage.GoldenChainParticipantAnd you can tell I’ve been into the Holy Water tonight!lol
GoldenChainParticipantYou are wrong about the Methodist. I’m Whiskeypalian. And if you are riding a motorcycle without a windshield, don’t smile.
I have a diploma in theology from an Episcopal seminary. When I married my wife I took a job in my home town (Hickory, she was from Fayetteville) so she said “I’m moving to your home town but I’m not becoming Southern Baptist!” So I became a Whiskeypalian. Took me 20 years but I got her to be a baptist…but I still take a swig now and again.
Hate to say it but I’ve read too many rosy projections fr pack teams for too many years and we somehow manage to screw it up. Show me Dave.

04/07/2017 at 4:13 PM in reply to: Dad asked me to watch the National Championship with him. Why I said ‘No.’ #122362GoldenChainParticipantJackwolf please stop candy coating it and tell us how you really feel!
Seriously this totally encapsulates the situation:
State got its nuts nailed to a log (I LOVE it!), I believe, out of institutional resentment that Jim Valvano could get so far with a predominantly black lineup, whose white stars were Italians from the northeast. The rosters of our glory days were decidedly not-UNC. No Steve Hales or Jeff Lebos there. So when I enrolled at N.C. State, we were saddled with the harshest eligibility standards of any school in the ACC, which took the few decent players we had out of action and even led to their transfer (Lewis Sims to New Orleans, Chuck Kornegay to Villanova, where both would later play in NCAA tournaments).
NO TRUER WORDS HAVE EVER BEEN SPOKEN ON THIS BOARD! While State College has relied on ‘imports’ for decades the minority thing is definitely true. The unx grad I shared an office with back in the early 80’s said “people must think NCSU is a black school”. I think the biggest thing is the idea that a poor college of farmers could beat beat them and beat them regularly.
It took institutional intervention to stop the tide. And by gawd they did. Still remember Woodie talking about the ‘mess at NC State”. He’s been noticeably silent about the cheating at xh.At the same time my 26yo who didn’t go to State but grew up watching PR and RW in C-F every Saturday and now works in the NFL told me this past year “dad, face it, NC State’s star has faded and unx has BRAND.” Killed me but he’s right.
That BRAND started with Xarolina Fever back in the 80’s and they have played it to a tee. Oh and having Lawrence Taylor, the most dominate defensive player in the NFL of the 80’s, plus MJ who after being a good but not great/dominate college player exploded to take over the NBA for years sealed the BRANDING for the holes. We keep expecting the hammer to come but alas I do not think it ever will.
GoldenChainParticipantI’m not ready to declare sainthood for Yow but I do think she has been the best AD for State since Casey -and yes that includes Valvano as well as Robinson.
I’ve made that same comment then been told how bad Casey was. All I know is we won 2 NCAAs under him and all our minor sports were superb including swimming, tennis, wrestling, and soccer. Plus we won our last ACC FB title under him and we hired Holtz who probably is the best FB coach we ever had. When someone can show a NCSU AD with better stats then I’ll accept the criticisms.
GoldenChainParticipantFYI,
History Lesson
The $18 Million banner is actually the result of a “Capitalist” manipulation. Remember that UNC is the university of the Liberal and Down Trodden.
The UNC Foundation or the Chapel Hill Fund is a multibillion $$ fund of endowments and such to UNC….NOT the UNC-Consolidated.They have spent enough for 120 FULL TIME FOUR YEAR Schollys…..trying to keep a couple of friggn’ banners in the DES Nose Dome and also to maintain their Aristocratic Image.
Now roo, you know I love but let’s not exaggerate. Their endowment is only $2.989 billion, but point taken, plenty of interest to feed the slush fund and pay Blood’s mom to be the school …uh, sleaze to service the admins and coaches plus tones left over for those delayed trust funds players get if they stay an extra year instead of going pro. What other explanation could there be for 1st round picks stay in school and risking injury? “love of school GC, you’re just a ‘hater’!” yeah right whatever. Why don’t they stay at Kentucky or Duke once they’re a lottery pick? BTW, I am a hater of unx.
And as far as unx being a school for the downtrodden…. 8.4% AA. (57.7% chicks BTW).
GoldenChainParticipantI’m sure freshmanin83 was saying that ‘tongue in cheek’.
Grey you are quite correct; long-snapping is one of biggest Achilles heels of every college and especially pro team.
My youngest works in the front office of an NFL team and he has said that to me. You’re only allowed 56 on the roster so that means 1 long-snapper, if he has to play hurt or can’t play…you have a big problem. The staph (my new favorite pet name for our coaches until they prove me otherwise) is high on this kid so I’ll give him a chance.
Funny though because we’ve probably sent more kickers to the NFL than about any college and why we suxed so bad last year I have no idea.GoldenChainParticipantYeah, Indiana is a harder job than NC State, especially when you consider he’d have more leash here being an alum.
Reasons we missed on him:
#1) Money (probably.. will have to see)
#2) His brother told him not to take our job#3) Roy and K aren’t recruiting the same state
Don’t doubt it on the money either, I kept telling you guys the financial reality was that we couldn’t pay that kind of money because we didn’t have it.
For us its a passion, for him its a business, if I had competitive offers I’d take the best one which would probably also be the one that paid the most.GoldenChainParticipantI’ve already said my piece about HB2 so I’ll take a pass and say that I think the conference is good but had a bad weekend for sure (you left out Louisville). I think there’s more parity than ever and you just think because you’re a 5 playing a 12 (or whatever) that its a ‘pass’ like it was 20 years ago.
I would be a little surprised if unx wins (and I was sure pulling for the Razorbacks to beat ’em and they almost did). When they are hitting on all cylinders they are the best team around, problem is they don’t play that was for any sustained stretches. Arkansas could have and should have beat them. When they aren’t playing their best they’re mortal. -
