I think the refs adjust to the physicality of the game. What UVA is good at is getting your to play a physical half court game.
Where I think State gets dinged is getting into a transition game and that isn’t as physical so when they do get physical they get called.GoldenChainParticipantThank you SqlWolf for the enlightened explanation for a lowling such as myself, I ain’t never heared stuff such as that! I had no idea that there were things in the universe we couldn’t explain.
My point is when you have to rely on something that isn’t verifiable to explain 84.5% of the universe then is physics a science at all?
Yeah you can explain how fast a basketball falls off the Empire State building but you can’t explain how 99.9% of the universe operates without inventing something you can’t verify.I guess its that ‘dark matter’ that messes up my equilibrium and caused gravitational forces that draw me into the wall in the stairwell after I’ve had 5th of MD (I mean it was ‘the wine of the century’ well last century for you millennials).
GoldenChainParticipantWe all called ’em ‘fudge factors’ in school designed to get us to the right answer…
^^^^THIS!
GoldenChainParticipantGolden Chain’s dream comes true…
lol, like I said, don’t pretend these 1nDones are students, their paid mercenaries or more likely, modern day slaves because they get sucked into becoming indentured servants in middle school (probably even unknow to themselves). REALLY, if these were coyotes convincing underaged Mexican girls to come to the USA for “good jobs” we’d call it ‘human trafficking’! AND THAT’S WHAT IT IS REALLY!
Let them do like MLB and play in a farm league. Heck ironically there has been an unholy alliance between the NBA/NCAA to operate as their farm league and no wonder the NBA sees an opportunity to gain the high ground! And what arseholes, they let their slimy agents create the dame problem to begin with! They sucked the NCAA in and are now imploding it.
That or the NBA can work with the Power 5’s and ESPN to break away and have paid athletes so that the teams become a type of club system like soccer has.No BotB but face it, this all started with student going to school they wanted to attend to study and deciding to ‘go out’ for a sports team. Kind of like DIII still does!
POP!
GoldenChainParticipantVA obviously excellent work.
This is a question I have: is there a rubric for like the “last 6 games of the regular season” or something? Sort of a late season fade/momentum thing. Part of me feels like how you do sliding in is a relative predictor of how you will do in the post season.
In my book Clemson sort of swooned down the stretch as did Louisville. Wouldn’t surprise me if they both made early exits in the postseason. I’ll even throw unx in there because of ending the season the same way they started it, 1-2 in the league.
Who was the coach at Clemson (I think he went to Auburn after that) who like had a 4 loss season or something but all the losses were in the last 3 weeks of the season then they made an early exit in the post season. (of course I’m sure there are examples of teams that catch fire in their conference tourney and end up making the sweet 16 but those have to be the exception because they lack MO going into their conference tourneys).GoldenChainParticipantI am sure I would love it if the pack was doing it
No we wouldn’t Rick. Bennett is doing properly what Herb was never able to completely pull off. We hatted Herb. But if he could have done it and been #1 and won all but 1 of his conference games in a season we might have tolerated him but I still wouldn’t have like ole Droopy.
03/03/2018 at 11:13 PM in reply to: The LAST Regular Season Game of 2018… Da'Ville Game Thread… #132066GoldenChainParticipantAnd remember this — NOBODY in their right mind expects you to pull this kind of miracle off every year while you’re coaching at NC State…
Speak for yourself! Coach Keatts, you are exactly what I’ve been waiting for for 29 years!
GoldenChainParticipantTECHNICAL ON Rye!!!! Using the same post in two threads! In fact I think he should be disqualified!lol
GoldenChainParticipantWhere’s Avie Lester when we need him?!
(“go in there and teach ’em a lesson!”)GoldenChainParticipantIn better news our gals beat unx for the 3rd time this season. When was the last time the men or the women bet the holes 3 times in a season.
GoldenChainParticipantI take full responsibility for this because I brought up the winning streak. Load me up!
GoldenChainParticipantDare I say this, we have the longest winning streak in the ACC?! How many time have we been able to say that on March 1st in the last 29 years?!
GoldenChainParticipantWell for Keatts I understand, as he said on his show, just scraping up the grad transfers and the good fortune of getting Beverly eligible on appeal made a world of difference. If you rolled that set of dice 100 times they wouldn’t fall the way they have for us this season. So I totally get our OOC schedule. My question is (and has been) why does it matter if we played teams that are in the high 200’s/low 300’s or teams in the low or middle 200’s? In either case we would be expected to win, maybe by 12 instead of 20+ but still expected. THat’s my whole problem with the quadrant thing. I understand the math (VA) I just don’t understand the rationale behind the system.
I believe what V did some was played these same type teams but he would get ones that had won their dinky conferences and made the NCAA, but they were still dinky teams, but he could claim it as a quality win because they were an NCAA team. Of course I realize that predated the sophisticated system with all the metrics we have now.GoldenChainParticipantI have been purged enough already. Among other things Six children four through college one still in and one to go.
Never mind! If I supply then I’ll get my account drained! I only did 3 myself! Keep that thing z…well you know what I mean but I’m sure it made sense at the time!lol
GoldenChainParticipantNo we aren’t. I will supply my routing number so we can purge you of this evil!
GoldenChainParticipantDamn UGA sure don’t have much to show for it save one final 4 in f’ball NCG.
GoldenChainParticipantI don’t think money is bad.
Dude! Its a GREAT thing if you earned it (and its in my Waddell & Reed dashboard, or if you got it the ole fashioned way, inherited it maybe, a little).. But being given it from unscrupulous people who do not have your best interest at heart and want to use it to control you is a bad thing! I’m thinking mob, loan sharking etc.
The point of a ‘loan’ is to control people and the DSJr was a ‘loan’. A loan does not necessarily violate any laws as far as income and tax evasion (from the recipients side).
Just saying.
GoldenChainParticipantHey if this is 75% then we have some heady days ahead!!!!!!!!!
GoldenChainParticipantOK maybe you should skip Chapter 13 and go straight to 14!
We aren’t going bankrupt (I hope).GoldenChainParticipantH8R can do the game threads…
I just need to send him the formats…Hey, he’s welcome but even down there you have wifi and we’ll pass the tablet and whoever is waiting on a beer can post the update!lol
GoldenChainParticipantAs I’ve said time and again, where this is heading is the power five splitting away so they can pay players and get away with whatever they want. It will turn into universities having ‘club teams’ that really have little to do with being students.
And who is driving it? The shoe companies, the agents, and don’t forget….ESPN who makes more off of college sports than anyone! Heck ESPN will gladly fund the new power league with a lucrative TV deal just so they won’t be obligated to show two sunbelt or Ohio valley teams duking it out with 150 viewers because its part of their ‘agreement’ with the NC2A.Oh and BTW, State College will be a part of it, like it or not.
Part of GC would be OK to revert to a DIII model that says if you can get into this college and want to go out for varsity ball then go for it! But you can’t unring a bell can you?!GoldenChainParticipantBotB what scares me is the one “you shouldn’t lose” is the one that bites you! We have played ugly and won (as you have well documented) but now seem to be feeling our oats…..i.e. a great time to read the press clipping, get self absorbed in being good, kill a ranked team by 20 right out of the gate, Jackets reach down inside themselves and find some shred of pride and pop us up side the head while we have our head turned.
Likewise the Ville game bothers me because they are wounded animal, limping into the end of the season but powerful enough to reach out and strike and deliver a blow.
BTW, back the day the Red,White, and Blue, Stroh’s, Carling, and PBR days Michelob or better yet, Heineken, were the ‘high class brews’.
I’ll come down and watch the ACCT in the basement with you and I’ll bring the Mic, you just have to get mama to put on her bikini top and serve ’em up!POP!
GoldenChainParticipantKeats is actually a coach, maybe times are a-changing at NC State!!
OMG!!!!!! With THIS ragtag group of misfit toys! What in the world will he do when he gets all his kids in there!
GoldenChainParticipant“Dear Jesus, thank you for letting me live long enough to finally see State College get another coach that has a team that puts their foot on someone’s ferakin’ neck and won’t let it off until there is no possible way they can win! I can now come home in peace!” GC
GoldenChainParticipantWulf there is water in Kansas that’s connected to land.lol
But to Yogi’s point contact in and off itself does not constitute guilt or wrongdoing on the university’s part. Doesn’t look good but doesn’t mean guilt either. -
