Glad I didn’t go down and sit in the hot to get pissed off!
Hey JMU is no slouch and two KEY penalties made this much closer than it needed to be. Some work to do but probably a good opponent for an opening game, challenging work ahead but showed the team where they need to work. (ie secondary!!!!!!!)

All I can say is ‘glad I’m not gonna be there!’ I’ll be down to tha big house in the A/C while you guys are roasting! Who thought noon was a great time for a game on Labor Day weekend?! We typically play night games early in the season.

……oh stupid me, ESPN decided when it was going to be.

The Observer (Disturber) had the top 25 NC recruits listed and commitments from 8 to NCSU, 1 to unx.

Amazing given their pro unx bias.

Is this where I am supposed to point out that the guy that Avent replaced has won two CWS since leaving NCSU? And that guy was a State alumni (Ray Tanner).

I don’t know what happened but after a stellar season we gave it all back closing out losing the season series to the holes, then FSU, then bowing out of the ACCT and NCAA. For the naysayers among us a typical Statesque conclusion to an otherwise terrific season.

I saw how well we were doing in recruiting and sent that link to my son that’s the NFL scout, he had been telling me for months what a haul there would be at the draft. Putting kids in the league is a huge recruiting tool and I can’t remember us having so many commitments this early ever, we’re usually fighting it out to get some late commits to salvage our class.

I think its a good sign and as far as elite? I’ll settle for Dick Sheridan solid year after year.

Or was that another Golden Chain member cause they both seemed to have held that chain? Darned if I remember a chain of any color so I guess that happened after I was gradjemakated.

Well Highstick correct that was me, however unless you graduated prior to 1926 the Golden Chain has added 12 links every year. Mrs GC is one as well. Very low key organization but includes just about every high profile State College grad that excelled in politics or industry (which begs the question how I got in…..I guess I just had some networking connections before I knew what that was….)

JD was just more of an acquaintance in college but I figured calling him on the air would give him a chance to crow a little. I have to listen to the unx folks yuck it up on there every other day of the year.

Wulf, come on man. I wasn’t predicting Cuse, FSU or Clem’s son were locks for the Final 4 ……Gesus

I am old school and pull for the conference (other than unx, I hope they lose every game).

The good news is our lackluster flat performance was dwarfed by that butt kicking UVa took last night! Holy Cow!
Plus we were on ‘house money’ and UVa was #1 most of the season! Wound licking going on all over The Old Dominion today!

(Side note: Some of UMd’s professional schools operate out of UMBC, my oldest got a law degree from there last May and since he was a Marine officer I appreciate you guys footing the bill for it, POP!)

Cuse, FSU, Clem’s son carry the ACC banner. Great wins by all, I stayed up and watched them all (well flicking back and forth between them and LivePD!)

Well as others have said, hard to be disappointed with how the team of misfits came together for one good season. I can’t imagine any coach since V being able to pull that off. Congrats KK, keep up the good work. He has commitments from 4 4*s already.

And this is why I don’t watch much college sports any more. Money had completely corrupted it.

I guess you just stick with Tee-ball then since we now know the agents have manipulated down into rec sports trolling for tallent. Pee Wees and Tee Ball are the only ‘pure sports’ left out there!lol

BOTB, I think part of it is just that as we get older we develop other priorities and some of the stuff that seemed to matter so much just ain’t that big a deal anymore.

Wes & his gals beat unx 3 times this season. You know he has really put our women back on the map! I truly don;t think he yet gets the respect of the pollsters and media for the job he’s done. Now go give ’em hell in the WNCAA!

Good to know. I thought it was because I didn’t sew ‘according to the signs’ as my grandma told me. I think Mrs GC decided today that it was worth giving Tru Green a shot for a season. I told her you thrown enough liquid nitrogen on anything and you can make it green!

The reason it matters to the committee is that nobody controls their conference schedule. Most teams can control their non-conference schedule to a degree.

Therefore, as someone said (I think me?!) “show me da money!!!!!” Otherwise I’m content to accept my house gate $ with cupcakes like Troy State at home and then rely on fighting it out in the conference where I’ll have 3 games in 5 days or 3 road games in a row against ranked teams. Just saying. What incentive do we have to play Davidson at the Belk Arena in December?

New Mexico State with an RPI of 78 iirc was something like 28-2 and regular season champs in the Ponderosa Athletic Association one year.

Dude say what you want but that was the PON DER OSA AA! not many people can say they were 28-2 after a season of that action! DUDE!

Maybe that’s been my problem on “Hell’s half acre” as Robert D Raiford used to call it here in Concord! Been here 25 years and still struggle to get a decent heat tolerant stand of turf! I do hit my yard with lime more than my neighbors and it shows but still not where I want it.

The NCAA should offer an incentive (i.e. $$$$ for those in faison) if they want teams in power conferences to play more high profile games against mid majors on the road.

From the chart above, FSU & VT have WORSE OOC schedules than us. Why? #1 they want to get the gate revenue to help their athletic budget #2 they have to automatically play 19 games against Q1 or Q2 teams half on the road.

    I agree Texpack.
I came into this season thing it was a ‘throw away season’; 1st year coach, few returning players, scratched up combo of grad transfers. It had the hallmarkings of a 16-16 season, if that.
Just to beat unx and Duke would have made it a successful season but to get a piece of 3rd place and beating 5 ranked teams?

If were going to have one-n-dones it makes you wonder if we should just go after these grad transfers!
