ParticipantI think the Pack may be learning how to win games.

ParticipantMan…I just like watching ’em compete and play football. Competent, football, while competing. Novel.
What’s that called in literature?
Roman a clef? Narrative? Romance? Potboiler?

ParticipantThere are plenty of other ways that they could have chosen to get their message across besides disrespecting and protesting against the flag and the country. They could take a knee when giving interviews if taking a knee is important to do. They can take a knee on every step onto and off of their practice times. They could rally and take knees outside of police departments, court houses etc… . They could explain exactly what they are protesting and what they think needs to happen to change it. They could pool their resources and take out ads, billboards, write articles that explain what they think and to convey their messages with the picture of people taking a knee.
To try and say that it is not disrespectful is the lie. When you protest something you are showing or stating your disapproval of it. If you disapprove of the flag and the country then that is not respect it is disrespect. To try and say differently is absurd.
I disapprove of and I protest against your flag and your country. The police officers in this country intentionally murder unarmed black men and are not punished for their crimes instead they get paid leave. This is a country that is and the flag represents, institutional racism. No disrespect intended.

ParticipantSo it would seem that the logic that is being used to justify the disrespect of the flag, anthem and nation would be that since they said it was something different it must be different.
Would this same logic hold if someone displayed and waved a confederate battle flag on MLK day at a MLK rally in honor of MLK. They would just need to say they were doing it in honor of what was accomplished because of the sacrifices and leadership of MLK. Would that be ok as long it was explained that there was no disrespect intended but actually honor.
Would they be believed or would it be more like don’t piss on my head and tell me it’s raining?
Standing up if able with hats off at least, not talking and usually hand over the heart in public when the flag is displayed and the National anthem is sung has traditionally been in honor and respect of the nation and those who bravely served.
I imagine most people would stand out of respect when another nations anthem is played unless they wanted to show disrespect.
Colin Kaepernick started off by sitting until someone talked him out of it. He mentioned specifically the flag and the country in his statement about why he was sitting. So yes they are protesting the flag and the country. That is what was mentioned specifically. He does not respect them and wanted to show it.
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

ParticipantInane comment must be repeated.

ParticipantKeapernick started out sitting and the Keapernick’s showed a LEO badge and a slave catcher badge and indicated they were the same aLso indicated in a picture that an nfl franchise owner was like a slave owner. At least we know where you stand.

ParticipantA great show of unification. Some stayed in the locker room, most came out. Some kneeled, most did not. Some fans booed the disrespect, most did not. Some fans are not watching anymore, most are. Some players say the disrespect of the flag and the anthem are about one thing, some another.
Some need to slight others by saying they are backwards, some do not.

ParticipantNo mention of any NCSU former or current coaches that I have heard of.
freshmanin83
ParticipantWhere have you gone Rick Monday?
freshmanin83
ParticipantSurely you aren’t speaking about the protest where the football players do not stand to show their respect for the flag and national anthem? Because THAT protest… well… that’s their entire point of the protest. Not sure how to drive this home to you. Disrespecting the flag IS the fVcking protest!
This is why we can have an intelligent discussion.. absolute truth just gets entirely perverted, warped, and ultimately disregarded.
I heard a conversation like what you are having and the reply was the fact that you don’t get it that you don’t understand makes you part of the problem. The reason you dont get it is because you are part of the institutional racism that is being protested. I don’t know if every person on the protest side would put it that way but that is one explanation I have heard of why it is not disrespecting the flag or nation or anything.
I don’t agree with that explanation.

ParticipantI agree that it is a huge win for the program especially if a few more wins can be added to it. Maybe some of the hope invested over the years comes to fruition.
I am hoping that Chubb is not indicted with a hate crime too.

ParticipantI was at the game just got home. So that is what it is like for calls to go your way. No wonder other institutions win so much. You should have heard that crowd whine and moan what was left of it at the end that is.

ParticipantGiven the trouble that the D had in corralling the SC QB I hope Furman does not posses a ” Have Gun – Will Travel” card.
freshmanin83
ParticipantImo the qb played well enough to win for the Pack. I was disappointed in the o-line run blocking and the D. I thought they would be more disruptive and make more big plays. As mentioned special teams play and turnovers is really where the game turned.
Needed a break to go our way like that bobbled punt near the goal line to be a fumble but can’t depend on other teams mistakes to win.

ParticipantJohn 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
Here is some truth. Be set free.
freshmanin83
ParticipantWell even if predestinated you still don’t know the outcome so if you are curious then watch. You are just relieved from the need to cheer for a particular side as it would have not effect.

ParticipantBill I do not know if this may help in the future but on some sites I have been on if I take a longish time to compose a new post it will time out and everything will be lost. It happened a few times before I talked to someone and they told me what was going on. Sometimes if I think I may have taken a while I will be safe and copy the post so that I can simply paste it in a new post if the one I was working on somehow goes missing or times out. If that is what is happening.
Everything seems normal until I go to post it and then poof it is gone. Kind of annoying but copy and paste is simple if I remember.
