FergusWolfParticipant
So, here’s my question. I believe I’ve heard it stated (usually in reference to Notre Dame this year), that the committee takes into account injuries and the record of the team before, during, and after the injury, and might “help out” a team that returns a star late in the season.
The same could (should imo) apply to MJs “7 game suspension” (How many times did they say that on Sunday?), we lost 3 of our games (UNC-G, Clemson, ND) during this time.
Is that likely to help us?
FergusWolfParticipantFrankly, I thought our ladies got the seed they deserved. They played a couple of bad games down the stretch and lost in the first round of the ACC tournament. It was a good season, but not a great one. I think that coach Moore is doing a fine job and look forward to us hosting NCAA games next year, when we deserve it.
Now, I did think that the refs hosed us a bit today, even on the obvious out of bounds play, they were trying to figure out how to award the ball to Texas, but couldn’t figure out a way, so gave it to us.
FergusWolfParticipantWell, since Moton is out, I expect we will make our announcement tomorrow. That’s what the announcers were saying, anyway.

Wm Tecumseh Sherman When You Need Him?” at GT Open Thread #118770FergusWolfParticipantNormally, I wouldn’t disagree, but given the fact that the refs seemed like they wanted to give the game to GT, don’t you think that we manage to screw that up?

If you don’t, then a foul “on the floor” or a quick shot/rebound cause you to lose the game. This forced them for a 3 to win, 2 to tie…which is better (imho) for 2 to win
FergusWolfParticipantWell, that pretty much went as well as we could have expected
FergusWolfParticipantI went to 2 Peach Bowls in the late 80’s (Virginia Tech loss, Iowa win) as a member of the “Power Sound of the South”.
I was 21 at the Iowa game, most of my buddies were not. We walked into a restaurant and I was able to order a long island iced tea, and didn’t get carded. My friends went 1 by 1 to the bar, and each got carded an denied.
But don’t worry, we had plenty to drink back at the hotel.
FergusWolfParticipantJust because I’m sure you care…here are my thoughts about last night (and the season so far)…
First of all, don’t you think bailing on this team this early is a bit extreme?
Last night was the first time we played a team as big or bigger than we are…
Both last night and against Creighton, we ran a high tempo game even though we knew we didn’t have the depth the other team did. Was that a risk we were willing to take to get the experience?
In both games, we were completely gassed by the time crunch-time rolled around.
While I think that DSJ has improved on the year, last night was a tough one for him. I hope he takes something from that.
Kapita could really have used those 3 games in the Paradise Jam, he looks just a little behind.
I suspect we will see the same from Yurt7 when he starts.
Based on previous GOTT teams, I think this team will be ready to play by the time the ACC schedule hits.
Do I expect us to play great defense? No
Do I expect us to win the ACC regular season? No
Do I expect us to win the ACC or NCAA tournaments? No
Do I expect us back in the NCAA tournament? Yes
Do I think we are capable of getting to the Final 8? YesMaybe I’m a little crazy, but I still think this team has a chance to be GOTTs best team, lets give them a little time.

1. DSJ can (and WILL) put us on his back if we need it
2. Both DSJ and MJ seem to improve every game
3. We pulled out a close one. This one started out similar to the W&M game last year, but we were able to rein it in
4. Surely CDD will get his 4 year extension tomorrow, since we backed up his Friday win with one on SaturdayEnjoy!
FergusWolfParticipantSo, do you think they announce the 4 year extension tomorrow, or wait til Monday?
FergusWolfParticipantFirst, and intro, then two points:
Intro: I’m what the administration considers to be a “worthless fan”. I attend 1 FB game a year and 2-3 basketball games. I do watch 90% of the games on TV, but that doesn’t help the administration, because the TV money is guaranteed. I do own a goodly amount of NC State ‘wear’, so they got a few bucks from me on that.
First Point: Go back and watch the game. ECU’s offense was FAR better than our defense, and our offense somewhat better than their defense. All in all, they were better that we were, and go figure it, they won. Good on them. Still don’t understand why we fired the OC, and kept the DC last year. I would have been OK with any scenario that involved a new DC.
Second Point: I am a staunch believer in standing by my university (BS ’89 and ME ’05) and I ALWAYS wore my red and white just as proudly after a loss as I did after a win. Yesterday I could not bear to wear the NC State T-shirt on the top of the stack, but rather dug down into the stack to find something else…telling?
I don’t know what the solution is, but I know we haven’t found it.
FergusWolfParticipantwell, that stinks
FergusWolfParticipantproblem is that our bats always start slow
FergusWolfParticipantTruly this game is in the finest of Wolfpack tradition, these guys clearly understand they are part of the Cardiac Pack,
On the other hand, our pitching has been much better all weekend than it was for the last few weeks of the season and the ACC tournament.
FergusWolfParticipantToday has the opportunity to be a strange one…
On the “plus plus” side, Braband could throw 1 pitch and the batter could ground into a game-ending double play, then we are off (or home depending on Rice) to the “super”.
On the non – “plus plus” side, this is scary. It’s great we have a 2 run lead, and can afford to let one score in order to get an out, but…
At 2pm, I’ll be sitting in my office, fingers, toes, and anything else I can find will be crossed, listening to Tony…
Go Pack!
FergusWolfParticipantI’m glad the FS CF is ok, but how many times do we have to watch him run into that wall?
FergusWolfParticipantI’m pretty sure that “redisgood” is already referring to 2016-2017 as “this year”, so when he says “next year”, he means 2017-2018. Specifically when referring to M. Johnson being our starting point guard.
FergusWolfParticipantBut of course, she says nothing BAD about the other programs
Of course. She may have gotten caught up in this, but she still wants/needs her job/payoff
FergusWolfParticipantI figured that out
I knew
Huzzah, me too.
Sorry, just practicing. Forum Olympics slot on the line.
FergusWolfParticipantBut I love quoting more than I love breathing.
And we love it when you quote people, particularly Rick
FergusWolfParticipantRick, you mean, by 0.5 scholarships, not by 50% of the total field hockey scholarships, I assume. They are allowed 12 scholarships, so 6 would be WAY to harsh a penalty. Reducing to 11.5 (vs. 6) would be far more appropriate.
FergusWolfParticipantAccording to one of the duke fan websites (I can’t remember which one), and Twitter poster @RCCPMD, UNC has received the amended NOA and it now contains 6 Level 1 and 2 Level 2 allegations (formerly, I understand, it was 5 Level 1 allegations). The new Level 1 is supposed to address academic fraud related to the SACS probation.
Apparently UNC is waiting until Friday (which Friday, we don’t know) to release a redacted copy.
I predict that Roy Williams will be suspended for the 1st practice of the season, and the tarheels will be awarded the 2016 NCAA Men’s basketball championship as punishment.
FergusWolfParticipantMy point would be, it doesn’t really even matter if he said, V said it, or someone completely made it up. It’s still NC State history and we love it.
I was going to ask if anyone has discussed it Shackleford himself, but then realized that 259,000 people would immediately call me an idiot.
So, I’m an idiot
But, given the general win/loss ratio at the time, and our standing in the ACC, I’d much prefer to be back in that stratosphere and discussing the stupid things our players said, vs. constantly bickering about our coach.
FergusWolfParticipantSeems like a temporary deal to me. I’m guessing that Lutz was effectively given his walking papers, either before or after the GT deal, but we are being nice until he finds a place to land.
Furthermore, I wonder if Joe Dooley isn’t looking at a position at NC State as a head-coach in waiting gig…
