ParticipantYou are dead on burn barn, I thought the same thing at the time. I think if you rearrange Amato’s season results , he would have been around to coach 2 or 3 more years. If the last two years had been his first, close games but still 3-9, then rivers and Russell would have made a much longer stretch for him. Of course the crazy penalty totals and lack of recruits across all positions would have curbed higher levels of success. Timing is everything.

ParticipantIf T A had caught Rivers’ shovel pass it would have been 35 – 6.

ParticipantThere was a thread the other day about Reynolds and I thought back to the 1985 game against a highly ranked team in SMU led by Jon Koncak. State won that day as I sat in the front row. I marveled at our team’s just plain out simple toughness in a close game to the wire. I was hoping this year’s team could eventually show some grit and last night they sure did! Whit, I hope you are raising hell with these players in a positive way with regards to being lean and mean. Now let’s go shoot some pirates.

ParticipantJigawatts, a belated thank you for the score updates Saturday night. It was the only avenue I had to track the game. Time Warner Cable, satellite, wifi, radio, espn3.com, AT&T, Verizon, Apple products etc., etc. all come to my house to die.

ParticipantESPN3.com – Marvelous.
Would appreciate score updates in the game thread. Go Pack!

ParticipantTime to make some horse leather. 2013 strength of schedule list per fan sided.com. article dated 6/13/13. This is based on pure win loss ratio of a team’s 2012 final record. Not subjective power rankings like Phil Steele.
13 – Pittsburgh (Hardest of all ACC teams), 16 – NC State, 24 – GT, 28 – UVA, 45 – Clemson, 53 – Syracuse, 60 – UNX, 63 – BC, 67 – Maryland, 71 – Florida State, 74 – WF, 85 – Duke, 94 – Miami, 102 – VT.
Our ACC opponents had a 59% ACC win ratio so our 16th (58.67 win ratio) hardest schedule doesn’t drop with regards to conference play based on final 2013 standings. It could drop based on the final results of OCC opponents but I’m not sadistic enough to go look that up.
SOS is not an excuse. We sucked because we suck.
Several posters during the year wished Cutcliffe was coaching NCSU. He went 20-40 in the first five years. I believe certain State fans would have dragged him to the Tower of London and cut his head off 18 months into that scenario. Duke had a favorable schedule. Even Steele listed them as the 77th easiest schedule. Let’s see what the devils do next year with a bull’s eye on their back.
DD, I hope you have great success at The – North Carolina State University for 20 – 30 years. Worst to First, baby!!
BJD was right as usual, State should have played UVA after the season.

ParticipantI am convinced Vandy will keep making legit blocked shots but the ACC refs will only see fouls.

ParticipantDD,
A wise man once said, “Now remember, when things look bad and it looks like you’re not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean, I mean plumb, mad-dog (prefer mad-wolf) mean. Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That’s just the way it is.” I believe it was a prelude before an indian battle which is fitting because our team will have to eventually travel through Seminole country to get where we want to be. Take the fight to them, DD and start by winning the heart and mind of the one named Brock Ruble.
Go Pack!!!!!

ParticipantSo many interesting members on this team and it must be a challenge for the staff to allocate 200 minutes of playing time per game. I pray Anya has his own biggest loser success story to tell the NCAAT announcers during a March or early April dark horse run. I’m injury gun shy as a State fan and would love Vandy and Anya to divide 40 minutes of effective play each game. I hold my breath every time Vandy jumps. This team deserves an injury free season. Anyway, it’s so refreshing to have so many perimeter and post combinations. Eat freash and stay healthy. Go Pack!!!!

ParticipantThanks for breaking my boredom for at least a few moments. Eventually, the 4 seed has to represent from a statistical standpoint. It might as well be this year if State earns this slot. Nice to know I am not the only one waiting for 2pm. Thanks again.
