Let’s go Pack!
etab4uParticipantTime to respond Pack.
etab4uParticipantNine points lost in missed field goals.
etab4uParticipantSo what’s happened to our much heralded run defense?
etab4uParticipantA heartbreaking loss like last year. I hope it doesn’t have the same impact on morale. However, I believe we played a better game than last year’s loss, even though we were in a better position to win then. Last year Clemson almost beat themselves as much as we played them tough. This year, except for 3 or 4 plays we played them even or better. We have to clean up special teams to win at the highest level and have to figure out how to play 4 quarters. The lack of offense in the 3rd quarter killed us. The defense was on the field too long and gave them too many chances.
Going forward, I’m worried about WF. They stayed “in the game” vs ND despite being run all over. Wolford is a good quarterback and could pick on our secondary. Defense is vanilla but fairly effective.
BC is no slouch either this year. I think we win that one because our receivers are better then their secondary.
Hang 50+ on the holes!
Go Pack!!
etab4uParticipantA win today would be awesome! As a wolf in tigger country, it would make me rather unpopular with the neighbors but that’s a burden I’m willing to bear. Go Pack!!
etab4uParticipantCowDog, or however you pronounce it, as one who spent a brief part of his youth also on the banks of, or in, Canadaway Creek and ended up wearing the red and white of NC State, I think you made the right decision. Had you gone to ND we wouldn’t have the enjoyment of your storied posts and the insights of one who has played the game.
Going to high school in a largely Catholic area there were more ND fans who couldn’t find South Bend on a map than UN* supporters in the sports apparel section of a NC Walmart. I never cared much for them either. Go Pack!etab4uParticipantNot surprised but still pisses me off.
The NCAAs mythical concept of the “student athlete” was just thrown out the window.etab4uParticipantUgh. Kicking game.
etab4uParticipantLet’s go Pack!!!!!woohoo!!
etab4uParticipantBeing ranked can only help our program in at least one significant area: recruiting. If we can bring in more highly ranked or skilled recruits than the Holes or the few we lost to the Cocks this year, it will help us down the road. I think it’s a good thing and am happy for the ‘Pack. I also hope we can stay there with our upcoming games. That will take winning and, if we lose, at least losing in a hard fought manner. I hope the FSU win gives us the confidence to compete.
etab4uParticipantOn to the Orange. How do we stack up versus them? I know little about how they have played other than not well enough to win but half of their games and that we are favored by 12. (But then last week F$U was also favored by 12 a couple of days prior to kick off).
etab4uParticipantDSDay, I also had a response composed but have elected not to post. I believe that Tractor57 and TexPack offered some constructive information around the subject early in the thread but it has dissolved into a shouting match worthy of a cable news panel where all talk over each other and neither side makes a relevant point. I think I’ll change the channel now. Thanks.
etab4uParticipantPitino’s gone. Looks ugly. Yesterday’s release is reportedly the tip of the iceberg. It’ll be interesting to see how deep and widespread it is. Just a few schools and one sport? Or?
I think the “oversight” by the NCAA may have been a little lacking…
etab4uParticipantCNBC was reporting Louisville and Miami as the schools in the initial probe / sting operation.
etab4uParticipantIf we don’t have our confidence blown early, ala USC, we have a chance. I hope we can get the running game going and give the db’s some rest. I think they’ll be challenged, even with a frosh qb in his first start.
Go Pack!!!09/18/2017 at 8:40 AM in reply to: Paladin’s Coming To Town? Why? Who’s In Trouble Game Thread. #124010etab4uParticipant66Pack, I realize your question is mostly rhetorical and spurred by NIU upsetting Nebraska. But it is interesting to note that DD’s “success” at NIU came after the program had been largely built by Jerry Kill. He is being asked to do something different here at NCSU – actually build a program and at a higher level. It may take a different skill set to build a Cadillac than it does to drive one. We should probably keep that in mind for the “next coaching search” because past results sometimes do indicate future performance – if the tasks are similar.
etab4uParticipantI think it was Bobby Bowden who said something like the progression of a football program is to lose by a lot, then lose by a little, then win by a little, then win by a lot. DD certainly started out with the losing by a lot and we have progressed to losing by a little. This year should be the year we start winning by a little. I’m hopeful but also wouldn’t be surprised to see things go the other way.
etab4uParticipantAnother coaching search. Groundhog Day.
etab4uParticipantI listened to the radio broadcast on a drive back from a funeral. A win is a win.
We continued our half to half history of malaise and competence. That being said I was encouraged by the second half. It sounded like we wore them down by the end of the game. That’s not likely to happen against deeper opponents. So we obviously have a lot of work to do to put a whole game together. What happened to the running game? Do we miss Dayes that much? I like Hines as a quick back and Gallaspy is big enough for a power running game. We still had issues getting short yardage when we need it.
Defense. Overall we got the job done in the end, which is good. However, even Gott would be proud of the way we can give an opponents player a career game. The announcers were able to pick up when we were blitzing before the play – obviously Marshall was too. Need to help out the secondary with pressure. Finally got that at the end, but in obvious passing situations.
Lots of other thoughts but I’ve got to do some storm prep…etab4uParticipantBasspacker I disagree. I think this was a statement game for DD. Just not the statement we, or he, wanted.
etab4uParticipantBallgame. Different year, same NC State. Lucy pulls the ball away again.
etab4uParticipantReally? Really? Sh*t.
etab4uParticipantOkay. Maybe it was SC that made the adjustments.
Come on, Pack.etab4uParticipantHere’s to half time adjustments. Go Pack!
