easParticipant
Turner is such a terrible defensive player.
easParticipantThose are butt ugly. I’ve always thought Louisville had the most horrid uniforms and now we may have some just like those. WTH????
easParticipantI wish somebody would shoot that damn Lion from FoodLion
easParticipantGott your nuts. Why take out Cat?
easParticipantKnow when your TV timeouts are Gott!
easParticipantAgain wtf is KW doing in the game!!!!
easParticipantWTF is KW in the game?
easParticipantWe are going to have a dogfight tonight to win. Let’s see…the Holes are:
1. Coming off the “Dean Smith memorial” week.
2. Playing good
3. Will be well prepared
4. Roy really hates us
5. Roy just got finished calling out all the fans for not being more vocal in the games…basically he called the fans a wine and cheese crowd.OL Huckaberry hound will be out for blood tonight. We better play like we have never played before or we will be in for a beat down.
I’m excited either way just to see how many carries Paige can get in one game. Maybe Tokoto (Turkey Toe) will be like his Iguana hair cut and change colors tonight.
Go Pack!
easParticipantGood solid game by the Pack. Lots of good things in this game. The only negative thing for me to say (which can be said all year) is Turner/BSW is one of the worst defensive players period. Obviously he brings a big plus on offense when he is “on fire” but dang his defense is weak.
Anyway, I may be in the minority here with this thought but I hope we see DEZ get more minutes against UNC. I think between DEZ and CAT we could really pressure Paige on defense.
Don’t know what’s up with KW and Cody Martin not playing. Either way Send Dez in to stick on Paige like glue and hack him when needed.
I agree Tokoto (known as Turkey-Toe at our house) is the wildcard. He can be difficult to stop when he is on his game. His play can be similar to Lacey at times.
Anyway, great game and effort against VT. If we use our bigs more we are MUCH stronger.
easParticipantI think he could get another decent coaching job but not at the money he wants. Besides who would even think about his buyout at this point? Only the big schools looking to make a move could afford it and there isn’t any big schools with that kind of money looking for GOTT. So….even if he wants out it is going to be two years at least if it’s his choice for financial reasons. He can stay and get paid top dollar for a few more years if DY can’t afford the $$$ to pony up for an early departure after next year.
We have made a career out of this process in Raleigh so we all know the drill. Wait and hope for the best even if that means We miss an awesome potential coach during the waiting time.
We will see transfers after this season and maybe even an assistant or two burning the road. There will be some movement in the offseason if I was a betting man. Oh well…looks like it’s another wait and see season next year. Good thing is that’s what we are use to every season anymore. The life of a Wolfpack fan. The cycle never ends.
easParticipantI have grown numb to the anger and frustration with this team (well Wolfpack BB in general). In the end it’s simple…another loss with every opportunity for it NOT to be.
That’s what has to change but it never does. Never.
easParticipantGood point Wulfpack. Let me rephrase that…”several normal losses”
easParticipantI expect to see the following through the end of this season….its just who we are and have been for Sooooo long:
-a team that plays hard for 3/4’s of the game
-a win against One or two top teams
-several wtf losses
-a good run in the ACC tourney
-being on the wrong side of the bubble
-an NIT bid
-an offense that is horrid
-a defense that is good at times but bad overall
-little to no structure on the court…mostly street ball
-just enough positive results to say maybe we are????
-1 or 2 transfers at the end of the seasonThese are just my normal expectations from MANY years. I am not happy with Gott over the last two years but I can also say that he has helped us in many ways. I agree it’s most likely next year is his make or break year. My personal thoughts are he needs to spend some hard time actually designing an offense & defense that actually WORKS with his current players. Play to their strengths and if what you are doing now doesn’t work (which it has not been) scrap it for now. We are set up for full court press and an intense defense with such a large rotation. Find a way to do both and we don’t have to worry about the terrible 1/2 court offense we are trying to run. Problem is we all know how LOW we rank with defense under GOTT. I would say 80/20 we will be looking for a new coach after next year. Until then we can hope for some serious change with our defense and offense as well as NOT loosing a few to transfers (which may be likely unfortunately).
I gave up on landing one of the “big” coaching names a long time ago. It doesn’t seem to be a possibility here with the money it would take. We always pick up coaches that “may” be a sleeper great coach. That project is still running a low percentage over many years for us. Who knows maybe next year will be the one. In the end that’s what we always say. That’s just Wolfpack athletics.
easParticipantWell it sounds like we don’t have any options (financially) other than wait another year and see. What will probably happen is we have a decent showing next year followed by two more egg laying years.
It’s just hard to think someone making that kind of money has such a bullet proof contract/options. I sure as heck wish my job worked like that!!!!
There is something very very wrong internally right now. You can’t continue to be that dang awful against weak competition if somethings not a miss.
Any way we can hire an offense consultant? My gosh it’s terrible.
easParticipantSimple fact = we lost to WF
Other Facts = we got our a$$ed handed to us for 32 minutes, the guys pulled off another crazy run, we have NO OFFENSE or 3% of Defense, our coaching flat out sucks donkey balls.
We are in BIG trouble folks. Don’t give me none of this we are young BS!!!
The players are lost. How dang hard is it to design some decent offensive plays???
easParticipantWatch on offense…there is no offense. Hilarious
No D is normal. No offense, no offense, no offense. None
easParticipant1st play will probably a predictable screen to Turner
easParticipantGott go have a beer and do some fishing during the 2nd half. Let the Waterboy give it a shot.
Literally we are just throwing Monkey crap rotations at them to see if it sticks.
So so SAD!!!!
easParticipantIf Cat wasn’t on fire could you imagine how bad we would be loosing!!!!!
This is TURDIBLE!!!
02/02/2015 at 8:24 AM in reply to: Saturday’s best & highlights of State’s win at Georgia Tech #72815easParticipantMaybe our coaching staff is like a great NBA team. Individually it’s like the “dream” team but when you put them together is it’s like watching the Circus.
Maybe on PAPER we have as good or the best staff in the league. The results show the complete opposite. One thing is for sure Bobby Lutz will be taking the first HC job that is offered to him. He has been itching to leave really bad to get back into HC.
I do agree we have a good staff no doubt. However, collectively the product looks subpar for many years now.
easParticipant^^ I think that’s what is burning people up. We are NOT 9th place talent but yet we consistently play at that level (with the exception of 1-2 games a year).
I have never been on the anti-Gott or the sky is falling bandwagon. However, I am beyond frustration with the lack of player development, offense and defense (we have no offense), basically there has been little to no organization in 4 years.
We are consistently inconsistent and we are still a bubble team at best. Sorry but I appreciate Gott’s work to this point (we all do/should) but I’m not sure where we are going? The product on the court really hasn’t changed over 4 years. If we didn’t make a “magical” lucky run at the end of February every year would people be so patient?
I don’t know anymore and it’s hard to give two $hits anymore either. We have been in this situation for so long it’s insane. Maybe it’s our destiny to be that team that is always on the edge but never really makes it.
Oh well…I still love my Pack but we just seem to pick the same road no matter who coaches anymore.
easParticipantWe are not really any younger than anybody else but yet we keep hearing it. Age ain’t the issue here if it were there would be a $hit ton of teams in our shoes. Our shoes are the same season every year for 4 years (Groundhog Day) with better recruiting. Bubble team, bubble team, bubble team!
Has Gott been good for our program? YES!
However, we are wildly inconsistent and our offense is beyond Horrid. We have ONE play.. That’s it. Base line screen to Turner over and over again!!!
I don’t see much coaching skills or improvement over the last 2 years in particular. If we have more people transfer out after the season there are issues.
easParticipantIn case anyone forgets how this story goes….
Part One: We make a run and somehow make the NCAA tourney this year (most likely having to win the ACC tourney). We either flop in the first tourney game or come out on fire and advance to be beat down in the 2nd round.
Part 2: We have a player leave the program for greener/different pastures. We pick up another JUCO who “could” be the perfect player. We wait and see they are good but need more development. Wait till next year syndrome starts and then they don’t really develop.
Record all the games this year and then change the date on them next year. Watch them again since it will be the same result next year. Sub out a UNC, Duke, UVA or UL win in there somewhere to give us false hope.
Still happy we won today but we are still flying with one engine and low on fuel. Hoping to make a rough landing in the NCAA tourney and keeping the plane in tact so it can still be used for rough sky’s next year.
easParticipantAbsolutely HAPPY with the win! Cat played much better today. Better effort.
I guess it’s just me but a last second shot in OT against $&@:$ GT is not impressive. We lost a huge lead AGAIN and our offense sucks period…Still I’m happy we won because hopefully it will bring some change. Anyone who thinks we were improved today is crazy. CAT did well but as a team we were Lucky to win. Oh well A lucky win is still a Win.
We needed that one…bad
easParticipantLet’s just hope to finish the season off better than it is now. Nothing else can be done with the current situation so let’s make the best of it.
We have the same team (record/effort/inconsistent) as we did 4 years ago with one major exception…We have MORE talent now. This just makes it even more frustrating!!!!
On a positive note I do feel Gott has helped us with PR a good bit.
No matter what we are STILL a Bubble Team at best in year 4. I would imagine that’s not what most of us wanted at this point.
Let’s hope to run the table and keep playing!!! What else is there to do at this point?
So dang frustrating! I swear Wolfpack basketball is like the Hotel California. You can check in but never leave the middle/lower end of the ACC
