Gott’s seat isn’t hot right now but will be rather warm at the start of next season. It doesn’t matter if he is the best we’ve had since V (which he is) or whatever you want to call it. It doesn’t matter if we are all insane or lunatic fringe etc. “If” we have another season like this or worse than you can bet his seat will be burning hot. You don’t have to agree or like/dislike the guy. Personally I think he has done a great job recruiting with what we have but I think the jury is officially hung on whether he can coach at the level we want.
I am not ready to go through another coaching circus so I HOPE we can improve from here on out and have a solid performance next year. I think the frustrations from football to basketball will play a key role NEXT year to whether he is truly on the hot seat. One thing is for sure both our FB and BB programs are below expectations. I like DD and MG so I hope the monkey jumps off their back soon so we can move forward. If that monkey hangs on too long…..well we know the drill.
Hats off to our guys they played hard. We just couldn’t stop Paige…even when we knew he was going to take the shot. Even though the refs had some iffy calls I can’t blame this one on the refs. I want to but I just can’t. The 3 bad calls on one possession in the 1st half are the only ones that were obvious bad calls. The rest were iffy but not as obvious. We just can’t close out games. Good job overall Pack!
If only WBS was a few inches taller and tad bit quicker. He runs the offense soooo much better than Cat. Cat is better on defense since he is taller and quicker.
Wolfpup76, did Tyler Lewis really the biggest reason for his success was “Playing Time” or was that a joke? If so, that’s awesome. Tyler’s only downfall is speed on D and size (well 3’s as well) He runs the offense well.
Then again I love WBS so I am clearly bias.
Let me start by saying the refs were horrid and the I agree we got screwed more so than not. If you watched the game is was just amazing to see the number of fouls we were called for vs SU’s lack of fouls. I’m still pissed about the bias that is clearly in play to keep SU in the #1 ranking so the ACC can keep their “power” play in place. It is just so obvious….
All that a side I have to say one FACT that could have been the game changer long before the screw jobs. Even with the ref bias and lack of fouls we did NOT hit our Free throws. Every freaking game we absolutely suck at FT’s! It’s like we have 5 “Shaq’s” shooting free throws every game. How in the world can we not improve this statistic? Do our guys practice free throws and if they do how long do they shoot? Even with the Swofford misfits calling the game we could have won on FT’s alone. As is the case with many other games!!!!! Why can’t we shoot? Why please tell me why????
I am proud of our team and they played well even with the mistakes. No complaining other FT’s from me towards the players. Great job Wolfpack.
Two questions I can’t get out of my head for Gott. Why did you continue to leave CAT in for soooo long when he was killing us? Yes I know WBS had his ankles broke on that one drive by SU but overall WBS did just fine in zone. Mistake after mistake in a crucial game and Cat stays in far too long. Second, and maybe it’s just me, why did BSW run the baseline play at the end? Don’t we have a taller guy that can do that and still keep a taller ball handler in play? Our end of the game plays or lack there of are killing us along with FT’s. Under 2 minutes in every game we do not have organization or plays to lean on. Over and over we see our players try to beat the press, trap or play clock with the dribble. I thought beating those odds with the pass was basketball fundamentals 101?
Still we got the screw job but we have choked a lot during crucial moments of games.
I hate SU more than the holes I don’t care what anyone thinks. Beehive is an A-hole coach and can’t stand the entire program.
Our offense is out of order. KW has been on fire is the only reason we score on O. Please put WBS in very soon Gott. We need the offense to flow again. Nothing against Cat and hope he keeps on scoring. We are just better with WBS at the point and have been the month of January and Feb.
