According to ESPN, DD is in Discussions with UT for the HC job. Looks like he was 3rd in line and now he is the new talk of the Town for UT.

If we give DD a contract extension based on a 1/2 of a season performance than we are idiots. I like our athletes but our coaching staff collectively makes routine stupid decisions during the game. It’s not about just recruiting it’s about running a well oiled machine of a program. Our program is like having a supercharged V8 with an owner who doesn’t see the need to change the oil routinely. Then when they do finally change the oil before the engine blows up, they do so with generic base layer Walmart oil.

I’m so tired of this entire system in Raleigh where it’s apparently ok to spend everyone’s money on mediocrity. Then bitch at people for being impatient or lunatics. Here is a concept….Pay upfront for a proven manager/coach for a well oiled machine program. We are always picking the next up and coming super star lol. I’m not say DD has done bad (he has done just fine) but my gosh his coaching staff is all over the place. The decision making in games continues to astonish me. It’s as if we have a group of position coaches that can’t be game management coaches.

But wait, if anyone starts winning a few games you get a contract extension. It’s the Wolfpack way lol. I agree these short side running plays with RB’s who do well in the open field. Long ball passes with 1 yard needed on 3rd. Numerous open crossing patterns to the middle of the field just left alone. A defense with experience and talent worked over by Wake. We are a better team than over 4 years ago but dangit we should be! Sorry but my rant is still driven primarily but in game play calling if I am being honest

Any decent team could have gotten TWO more plays if you spiked the ball there!!!! Throw to the sidelines or incomplete passes. We had downs to spare. What in the he## did I just watch happen?

Our in game play calling WHEN IT COUNTS is atrocious
..all year, well every year under DD. Look I’m happy we improved but my gosh decisions in games are crazy.

Why did we run that play and not ground the ball?

Another no score 3rd quarter for the Pack.

It sure feels like Wake dominated that half a lot more than the score reflects. We are absolutely rabbits foot lucky to only be down by one TD going into the locker room.

We are still calling the freaking defense set and the ball is already in play.

The Deacs offense moves so quick between plays that our defense can’t get set in time. Now that’s efficiency and our defense can’t figure it out in time. So, did we not work being prepared for the quick start Deac offense? Sure looks like we didn’t….

This game has me worried for sure. The Deacs are working the field easily and we All know how bad this coaching staff is at making adjustments. Especially after the half and into the 3rd quarter. We are consistently awful in the 3rd quarter. We need points NOW and some quick 4 play defense.

It was a good game and we are a good overall team. I can’t say I’m not frustrated but I’m also happy with the improvement overall. Things that still frustrate me to pulling my hair out:

    1. Stupid continued wildcat play to Samuels when is consistently shut down. Its far from a shock to anyone lol.
    2. Special teams are…just bad.
    3. Onsides kick with plenty of time on a team that will punish you with great field position. That was just a stupid call.
    4. Why in the world can we NOT recruit a FG kicker? Why?????
    5. Our in game adjustments continue to be turtle slow compared to other teams.

Still proud of them but dang that WAS a winnable game for us. It truly was. FINISH should be the new slogan for inspiration, along with let JimBob the crack head call the on the line play calls. Have to have better odds that way it would seem.

Great idea to give Clemson great field position and us poor position if we stop them.

Thank you offense coordinator for going back to what works!

You can’t beat Clemson unless you take risk plain and simple.

Difference in the two half’s is the offensive play calling. Clemson got aggressive and we are starting to call O’Brian ball.

Stop snapping it to Samuels unless he can throw it. If continues to fail miserably! Good gosh

I watched the game and it was sickening. My Wife and daughter (son as well) are TarHoles so that’s always tough. Well my Daughter is only 11 and 9 so that could change but it won’t. Why? Kids like winner’s plain and simple. Winner’s are always talked about and on TV. Winner’s spend what ever it takes to get to the top. I’m on “old” winner who believes in winning the right way like everyone else on here. However, I have come to the conclusion of these facts:

    1. The “feeder” generation to the TarHoles (or any college) simply doesn’t care if they cheated to win. They simply don’t.

    2. The NCAA literally can’t afford to bust the UNC cash machine. The money at stake is too high to worry about integrity.

    3. I can’t fault the younger generation to pulling for a winner (in theory). I watched my 11 year old jump with excitement after the win last night (maybe she was just in shock we allowed her to stay up past 9pm).

    4. The Wolfpack may simply never be a top 3 team in the ACC. The mindset of the powers that be seem to reflect that idea as well. Not a knock on Keatts but if someone told the Wolfpack power brokers that for 3 million we could be a decent team but for 4.5 million we could be top 10 team nationally, we would pick option A with the hopes of changing the mold. That’s just who we are and apparently what we always strive for.

    5. The TarHole machine is too big to fail. Too many decision makers depend on them succeeding.

Here’s to hoping Keatts is the miracle we’ve been looking for at an Decent salary. Very well written article by the way. I did enjoy the read….Go Pack

Regardless of what you think about the hire, Yow has proven she is an awful at contract negotiations. She probably offered Miller a 45 year deal @ 2.21 million or possibly 220k. Hard to say with her wacky configurations.

Here’s hoping we are wrong and he hires a strong defensive coach. We all want to win, so if he does that then no problems going forward. I still can’t believe we paid 2.2 million x 6 years for him. Seems we should have checked the prices on Kelly Blue Book first.

Isn’t 2.2 million a good bit more than what any of the other coaches were looking at are currently making (minus Gregg Marshall of course)?

Maybe they worked a higher base salary in order to have a lower buyout or something. Just seems like a big jump, actually a really big jump in pay. Almost sounds like he had a better offer and we needed to sweeten the kitty with 2.2 million.
