I WONDER why Lacey does NOT run the Point and let Cat do his “I can improve a score” trick as the shooting or second guard.
It seemed like we saw a little of that yesterday and it worked pretty well. My question is:
If Lacey starts playing PG more, does Cat want to play PG enough to consider transferring if he’s not THE guy next year?
cWOhLFrPAiCKsParticipantYesterday was pretty much what I expected going in. This game had disaster written all over it even BEFORE we put on a good show against FSU. It will be up to the coaching staff and Jacoby to get everyone’s heads on straight for BC next week. I think we’ll see a much more focused team that’s ready to fight in front of the home crowd.
cWOhLFrPAiCKsParticipantI’ve been surprised by the lack of pressure the defensive line is getting on a consistent basis. In the first quarter we seemed to be in Jameis’ face early and often, but as the game wore on, we just couldn’t get there. Could be due to fatigue or a change in scheme by FSU and a lack of reaction by our defensive coaches.
I expected more of an immediate impact from guys like Pharoah McKever and Kentavius Street but so far I haven’t seen it. Really expected a bigger season from Art Norman and he’s had his moments, but overall a disappointing start for the front four.
Aslo, losing Salahuddin and switching to the 4-2-5 has left us with one less linebacker to blitz with, which may be the reason we aren’t seeing more exotic blitzes on third down situations.
But I’ve been impressed with the strides Fernandez and Wright have made so far this season and hope the young guys will continue to grow at their positions.

Looks like a great addition to #Pack15
cWOhLFrPAiCKsParticipantOverall I thought both sides of the ball looked good for a spring game. Would have liked to see First Team vs First team to get a better idea of what each side is capable of. Jacoby was certainly impressive and o-line gave him plenty of time in the pocket for deep throws and kept lanes open for him when he wanted to run. If it wasn’t one-hand touch on the QBs he would have made several nice plays to extend drives and get some good yardage with his legs.
He missed a few long balls, but all but one were thrown out of bounds so they couldn’t be intercepted. His one interception was a bad throw, didn’t look off the safety enough and allowed him to make the play. But he came right back and found Underwood wide-open for a touchdown before the end of the half. Also seemed like his deep balls were more on target in the second half (the other TD to Underwood).
Bo Hines certainly looks like he’ll be a very valuable asset for Jacoby this season. Kid has great hands and good awareness when he catches the ball. Always made moves to get upfield, not a lot of dancing around.
Running game looks like it could still use a little work and I was surprised Shadrach didn’t get any reps with the first team, though that probably has a lot to do with his off-field issues and working himself back into the favor of the coaches.
Really liked the pressure and the relentlessness of the pass rush from the red team. They didn’t give the other QBs much time in the pocket and forced them to get rid of it quick.
cWOhLFrPAiCKsParticipant^well said.
cWOhLFrPAiCKsParticipantCat was better at the end of the season running the offense, took a lot less jump shots and looked to pass more when he drove the lane. I think we’ll see more of that next year. With the maturation of other young guys, this team will be well equipped to compete next year.
cWOhLFrPAiCKsParticipantHonestly, most people wondered if Tyler could ever play at a high level in the ACC. While he played well down the stretch this year, I think the wear of starting at point for an entire season would have shown that he just doesn’t have the physical ability, regardless of his basketball IQ. The NCAAT is a great example: he played lights out against Xavier but had one of his worst games against St Louis. Couple that with his inability to guard opposing players and this move starts to make sense.
cWOhLFrPAiCKsParticipantPainter left because I a family situation, Purvis wanted to play point but there wasn’t room, can’t remember what the story with de thaey was, and TL is likely leaving because it will be Cat’s team next year with him playing a similar role to the beginning of the season. I can’t imagine GOTT didn’t try to keep Tyler, but the kids gonna do what he thinks is best for him. Wish him the best.

Not matter what anyone else says, Wilson was and always will be a member of the Wolfpack family first, and everything else second.
Now let’s see if Philip can win a Superbowl next year and have back-to-back Pack champs!
cWOhLFrPAiCKsParticipantHe will never come back to the ACC. Imagine having to play NCSU every year. Even at home (especially at WF) he would get berated by State fans every second of the game.
If things don’t pan out at ASU, he will be coaching a mid major or smaller conference school somewhere, but only until his luck finally runs out.
03/25/2014 at 9:28 PM in reply to: National Media Outlets Say “TJ Warren To The NBA” But TJ Says “Undecided” #49587cWOhLFrPAiCKsParticipant^Reminds me of CJ Leslie last year. No matter how often he was double or triple teamed, he always tried to to put up a shot.
Compare that to TJ this year, who took his fair share of shots against double and triple teams, but his style of play allowed him to still get good looks.
Would love to see TJ “pull a Hodge” and fake everyone out at the press conference, but I doubt that will be the case. It all really depends on what TJ wants to do.
Not being a lottery pick has it’s advantages. You don’t end up on a terrible team with little-to-no chance of competing, you can learn from great players around you and have the chance to contribute on a championship caliber team. For a guy like TJ, I highly doubt it’s all about the money.
Whenever he decides to go, I’m looking forward to having another (more specifically, a second) member of Pack Nation to root for in the NBA.
cWOhLFrPAiCKsParticipantSo will this fraud case possibly drag more of the scandal into the public eye now that someone with subpoena power will be asking the questions? Or is there still a way to keep the information they want hidden that way?
cWOhLFrPAiCKsParticipantI’m kind of disappointed the letter didn’t say:
NC State Needs Baller Fans
You = BallerAll joking aside, can’t wait to see what coach has in store for next year.
