Haith is a solid coach. We’ll see how he’s doing after a few years at Mizzou – that’s the true test right?
Huge non-conference game for us here tonight. It would be nice to get the “W”….We’ve gone from a team no one was talking about to a potential NCAA team…win 3 of the next 4 and we’re a likely team.
20 regular season games left…I’d put our magic # at 11 wins right now for an at-large NCAA bid.

choppack1ParticipantOh and if you didn’t think that turner and Lee would/could contribute, you’re retarded…. which could mean you are a journalist.
choppack1ParticipantAm I a bad person because I would rather have one acc football or men’s basketball championship than 10 women’s national titles?
I think its great that women’s basketball is doing great, but I won’t watch many games…very frustrating watching them make what I would consider making middle school level mistakes….you see them in the men’s game but not as often.
choppack1ParticipantTeam looks great these last 2 games and is undefeated since vandy’s return.
Very exciting team to watch…I love the players on this team. Gott is doing a solid job with this squad.
choppack1ParticipantColorado state pulls out a miracle win vs. Washington state…I would like to hear USC’s band for a bit but alas that is not meant to be.
choppack1ParticipantRebound, rebound, rebound. We held our own on the boards last night so we won.
We are better defensively this year at almost every position… and these guys play d hard.
I also think the officiating was great last night… they let them play but it wasn’t a slug fest.
The boys in blue shot 47 foul shots. That is just scary…I am not looking forward to the one-sided foul line parade that will be acc basketball.
choppack1ParticipantWin was huge. A big boost in RPI… hopefully ut continues to be decent. More than anything else this game was about rebounding and we were awesome on the board. We rebound like that and we can hang with anyone.
Congrats to team and staff!
choppack1ParticipantIf we don’t learn how to box out and rebound it will be a long year.
This evening, when barber was in the team didn’t do a good job or he didn’t do a good job of finding him to start the break.this got better when lewis came in, then we stopped rebounding. In the last 5 minutes we didn’t do a good job from the line. I thought both Washington and vandy looked good tonight….but again, our team refuses to box out and our coaching staff obviously doesn’t care.

The feeling is NOT the same in the RBC hockey arena. Glad to see our coach has suppressed his coach speak and said what a lot of have been saying for years….
choppack1ParticipantAwesome pick up!! Welcome!
choppack1ParticipantI would feel better about this if we had a good history with qb qb transfers…I am not saying it won’t work out, just noting that it hasn’t in the past.
choppack1ParticipantTexpack – I agree with you on the keys..I have every impressed with barber
choppack1ParticipantI am pulling for dd. Every time I have seen his TV or heard him interviewed I have come away inspired and impressed. I am in his corner for at least 4 years.
I am impressed with this years results? Heck no.
We have a young coach…he will make mistakes. Hell, the best coach in America screwed up on his 57 yard field goal from a kid who was lucky to make a 40 harder.
I believe that – especially in college- it is not so much the IQ of the coach rather how hard his guys are willing to play for him
choppack1ParticipantHuge pickup for the wolfpack. We needed this.
05/14/2012 at 10:14 PM in reply to: UPDATED: Orange County DA asks SBI to probe UNC-CH academic scandal #39317choppack1ParticipantRemember – what killed NC State athletics wasn’t the NCAA sanctions or investigation. Rather, it was the punishment administered by the BoG. We played in the NCAA the next year…but what really killed us was the FACT that we were required to recruit BETTER student-athletes than UNC (or anyone in the ACC) AND we were required to do more in order for them to be eligible.
I see ZERO evidence that this will occur in Chapel Hill. While they do have some rabble-rousers, I think by and large these guys have all drank the kool-aid. Combine that with the fact that I’m convinced that North Carolina’s power players are convinced that only a strong football program can continue to fund UNC athletics AND get an ROI on that end-zone, and I don’t think you’ll see anything meaningful happening and UNC will be bowling in the 2013-2014 season.
choppack1ParticipantThis kind of thing validates what some of us have thought for a long time about acc refs
choppack1Participant40 years old here.
Ozzy sucks – but even worse is the music during the breaks. This year I went to Clemson and UNC and in the past I’ve been to FSU, VaTech, both UTs, tOSU, BC, GaTech, UVa and USC – and this year’s entry and ongoing muscic is by far the worst.
We should have stuck w/ Bodies or Boom. If we were going to drop Bodies, we should have dropped it in the middle of 2001 (it just didn’t seem right the first game after 9-11 to play “let the bodies hit the floor”.) Overall, it just shows me that those making this decision are pretty much braindead. They’ve gotten it right 2 out 11 years.
As for the band – that’s just not realistic. Our band is definitely bigger, but I just don’t see everyone going crazy for it. I started going to UT games in 1981 -this was before teams entered the field to anything other than a band -and it was really cool to have them run through the T as the announcer said, “It’s football time in Tennesee!”
That stuff works in the right atmosphere. But that’s “old money” – and no matter how hard “new money” tries, it can’t be “old money”. Coming out to the marching band is special when you’ve got 90K plus (as you do at UT, ‘Bama and tOSU)…for the rest of us, we need a good song, and if we like it, we need to stick w/ it. And quite frankly, since Boom, I haven’t heard a song I’d want to keep.
choppack1Participantwulfpup – In 98 FSU actually won their first round NCAA tourney game against TCU (I think.) They should have won their second round game but collapsed.
The 98 tourney was tweaked after NC State made a run to the final from the play-in game the year before. A lot of folks felt bad that we had to play four games in 4 days. In true bureaucratic fashion, they changed the tourney for one year in order to avoid the same exact thing again. Of course, in true bureaucratic fashion, they left open the window for another team to play 4 games in 4 days….
choppack1ParticipantVaWolf – Good stuff.
This is why some of us think that there’s still an inkling of a chance that we could obtain an at-large bid if we win our next 4 games and lose in the championship. In order to do that, we will have beaten 4 teams w/ very respectable RPIs (in all likelihood beating 4 teams w/ RPI’s <65) – and we will have a solid record in our last 12…At the very least we will have beaten UNC on a nuetral court, won @ Miami, and beaten either UMd or VaTech and whomever we faced in the semi’s.
Unfortunately, our real time RPI has plummeted to the mid 90s – so we’d have to have a meteoric rise, but if we win those 4 games and lose to a solid opponent on the road, we just might have it.
One side note – I really think we were just a couple of tweaks of the schedule from being much closer to the bubble than we are now. 7-9 in the ACC isn’t an awful record – and one would think could typicall land you in the 50s to the 70s w/ a respectable OOC. Unfortunately, our OOC had the worst of both worlds, 3 solid teams (2 of them on the road) – which we lost to – and a bunch of horrid other squads. Effectively, we were kicked off the bubble early by this OOC. With a better one, we might only need 2 victories in the tourney and a 3rd tourney win would have surely got us in.
02/09/2009 at 9:40 AM in reply to: ACC officials embarrass league, spark (Jamie) ‘Luckie’ comeback #35348choppack1Participant“There is no doubt in my mind Sid would beat Roy if Sid had Roy’s boys.”
That’s probably true. Of course, if you let the two choose teams, who do honestly think would win the most games?
BJD – I’m a little concerned about what you are hinting. Of course, right now, if I was on the team and I was a freshman or sophomore, I’d have to be concerned my future. And if my son was a blue chip prospect…
02/08/2009 at 7:42 PM in reply to: ACC officials embarrass league, spark (Jamie) ‘Luckie’ comeback #35301choppack1ParticipantBrutal game to lose today. I don’t know where the blame lies for what we saw on the court, but like others, I think it’s pretty obvious Fowler’s pathetic coaching search started this mess.
The fact that Fowler was allowed to keep his job after last year’s results are pretty telling – and scary. I really have no idea what it will take.
