Team ready today. Wow. Didn’t expect this after Notre Dame.
But when you don’t defend or rebound it is to be expected.
choppack1ParticipantLol at vitale and Roy bragging on unc-cheats graduation rate to claim he was doing things right academically. THE GRADUATION RATE IS HIGH BECAUSE OF THE FRAUD AND EASY CLASSES!
Its like a drug dealer saying ” How can they call me a drug dealer? I am rich”. The reason you are rich is because you deal drugs!
choppack1ParticipantWe rebound badly because we don’t box out. You can give maximum effort but that maximum effort is wasted if you don’t box out. IMHO, gott must subscribe to the “go get the ball” theory rather than “positioning” then “box out” theory. As a result, teams get plenty of easy shots and our guys are constantly in foul trouble.
choppack1ParticipantI am enjoying the hell out of this.
When I was in school, my friends and I always suspected UNC-cheat was easy as hell. We never thought they were this dirty.
And here’s a couple of gems that have proven out over the years:
I was at He’s not here in the summer of 91 or 92 and I overheard rick fox say “I haven’t been to class in weeks”.
One of my friends who went to Carolina commented on tutors doing work for players.
Our basketball team wasn’t clean, but it wasn’t an institutional thing. The school and its administrators weren’t breaking rules or even compromising their standards to allow these kids to stay eligible much less graduate.
IMHO, as far as college athletic corruption, this is a much bigger story than Penn state. Unc-cheat did this to gain a competitive advantage. There was no risk of other schools trying to emulate Penn state.
choppack1ParticipantOur RPI went up to 59….great news. I suspect the RPI balances out on losing to a team ranked 20-45 @ home vs. Beating a team ranked 50-99 on the road.
Hell one of the dirty not-so-secrets of the RPI (if you look at the formula) is the boost of a road win and the punishment of a road loss.
choppack1ParticipantCowdog – that is a very astute observation. If I recall correctly, we had just seen our lead reduced and cat had taken a couple ill-advised shots. Putting lewis in the game showed confidence in lewis and showed who was really in charge.
Lewis settled down the team…. when cat came back in he was composed and rested. Win-win-win.
choppack1ParticipantHuge win…will pay dividends for RPI.
choppack1ParticipantJust when you think you are out. They pull you back in!
Great win by pack. Props to coaching staff and players. Best d I have seen in a while from the pack. We made some mistakes but did lots of little things right that were the difference between winning and losing.
choppack1ParticipantDid they just say jameis was 22? Holy cow…who is he Tyler Hasbro?
choppack1ParticipantGreat game. I do like jimbo as a person. Could do worse as a national championship.
choppack1ParticipantHoly cow! That auburn rb’s dad was in de LA soul?
choppack1ParticipantNext on classic sports.
choppack1ParticipantHeard a great stat today. Malzan became a college coach (oc) 8 years ago, he’s had 8 different starting qbs.
choppack1ParticipantSecond half FSU defense is awesome. However, remember be holding call on auburn.
choppack1ParticipantYep. Good call bjd.
choppack1ParticipantWatch out starting to evolve into a good game.
Auburn not running much…story of game thus far is Auburn’s d.
choppack1ParticipantNope. Not good prep for a team that ran on friggin Alabama.
choppack1ParticipantBjd – I agree with you on clemson win…huge for the conference. But make no mistake about it, they are an sec team and are used to those games.
I don’t think FSU was ready for this.
choppack1ParticipantFunny how human jameis looks when facing a fierce pass rush.
I’ve said all along I am not sure if its more him or ol (who gives him a ton of time) or his receivers (who are always wide open).
choppack1ParticipantHmmmm. A bogus holding call may have changed the outcome of this game
choppack1ParticipantWhy was that your worst fear?
choppack1ParticipantCowdog – you are right about the booster creativeness under wooden. Reminds me of another saint who gets a pass. Tom Osbourne and bobby Bowden have to be wondering why didn’t we retire earlier.
choppack1ParticipantFootball transfers are generally a red flag if its for playing time. Ergo, brissett may be tearing it up in practice, but…
choppack1ParticipantYou can’t just a coach by his best or worst game. Saban isn’t an idiot, but he clearly made a huge mistake vs. Auburn.
Coach k has been out-coached a lot. However, I subscribe to the theory that the more coaching you have to do in-game, the worse job of prep you have done. It’s why I couldn’t stand Lowe. If he had prepped his guys better he wouldn’t need to constantly whistle.
Likewise, I think if our guys were prepped better on the defensive side of the floor, we’d be talking about what an awesome coach gott is/was. Then again, if he coached d better, he’d probably be at UCLA.
choppack1ParticipantVa wolf – I agree with you on gott and his track record. No argument from me there.
I don’t think depth would have been a problem for a lot of teams last year…. but this goes back to track records of which you speak.
We had 9 scholarship guys last year… all of whom were capable with the right instruction/ motivation.
Regarding officiating, I didn’t think it was bad for us at all last night. Our guys are frequently out of position and don’t do the little things right, so you will see a lot of fouls on our end.
