Cowdog – his only other hc gig was taking over a program that someone else built. Granted, he did well and advanced the program, but this is an entirety different gig.

I certainly haven’t made up my mind but nothing that I’ve seen in the first 13 games gives me the warm and fuzzies. It doesn’t mean that he won’t be successful – but I can only form an opinion based on what I have seen thus far. I haven’t given up yet and I think we’ll probably need at least next year before we have a better idea of the direction of the program.

I would also add that when parking goes up and pricee go up one isn’t too happy when they don’t see much evidence that there will be an roi. Do I think he should be fired? Heck no.

I will take the win. It was ugly, bit we won.

This game did nothing to ease my fears that dd and staff are in over their head. Those fears are based on what I saw last year, this year and someone who worked with previous staffs. OTOH, every time he is interviewed, I come away impressed. Jury is still very much out and hopefully, we’ve got a great coach here in Raleigh that we won’t have to fire.

This season will be very interesting. I think its possible we can have a good one and plenty of good seasons have had shaky starts.

I am excited about the potential of both lines.

As for last year, I read a quote that summed it up perfectly “dd played a $–$ hand $—$ly”…

As for tob – if you couldn’t see this coming you were blind. He did exactly what I thought he’d do. If we had him and his staff a few years earlier it would have worked out pretty well…but when you sign a bunnch of geriatrics they generally don’t recruit well even if they are good football coaches.

Tenuta has/had a reputation as a great coach who loathes recruiting…. He was a natural for our last staff. (Old school lifers who expected certain things from football players.)

I hope we haven’t gone to the opposite end of the spectrum now. It will be interesting to see what we do this year. I don’t like that we have basically pinned our hopes for a conference win on brisset

I think gott does a great job scheduling. As long as he our hc we wont miss tourney because our ooc schedule sucks.

How in God’s name did Trevor Lacy get up to 230? He’s a guard right?

Good news on Anya. Also, don’t forget we added another high value transfer in Henderson.

The real banana republic is north Carolina. The failure to lead and demand accountability has been bipartisan. The heel “footprint” is amazing and embarrassing. If you want to know why great evil is possible look at the old north state…and look at how nothing is being done at the highest leadership levels here. Heck, its certainly possible I am wrong and these leaders are being 100% honest and forthright…but the following appears true:
    1. McAdoo plagiarized a paper.
    2. Baddour stood in front of the NCAA and said it was his work.
    3. A tutor – who happened to tutor butch Davis’ son…was found to be involved in paying parking tickets for a UNC player.
    4. The former assistant hc at UNC john Blake – was given a show cause for being a de facto runner.
    5. UNC’s recommended punishment didn’t include a bowl Ban.

This is just the early stuff. If there was ever a case for shutting down an athletic department this is it. And if this type of thing is prevalent (which it may be),college sports should be terminated or truly reformed.

Yea – time will tell won’t it? Even the inept investigations have yielded some valuable info. Sec of state revealed that marvin’s handlers got paid… (No action from NCAA?)…martin’s report revealed the fake signatures and tons of fake classes. The correct question is “what the @#%%! Took you so long.”

I do think gott is recruiting well. I really like our depth everywhere but the pg position. I am concerned about that position more so next year. Like I said, I see tourney bids in our future but don’t see us in top 4 of acc or a top 6 seed in the tourney…aka another year where we will be paying a lot of attention to dance card.

Wolf in atl – I actually had thought that may be possible. However I am still not sure got doesn’t take that extra time and spend it on offense.

What really tees me off more than anything is the poor defensive rebounding. As someone else mentioned our half court d isn’t terrible…but when you get stops you need to rebound. We don’t force to’s and we don’t rebound well defensively. A top 25 team does at least one of those.

Lol @ blaming poor d on the players. This much should be obvious to anyone with a room temp iq or better – without Scott wood and turner we don’t go anywhere the last 3 years. As for d – turner and wood are good coachable kids. I suspect d isn’t emphasized OR taught well by staff.

The next good defensive team Gottfried has will be his first. But please, continue questioning the only 2 players he’s had who can shoot the 3 well since his arrival.

I am thrilled with this pickup. He’ll be a good addition. I think more tourney bids are likely but our ceiling is low unless we learn how to do 2 of the following 3: make foul shots, defend and defensive rebounding

I don’t like yow’s comments attacking the attitude of our players. Sounds like excuse making and sour grapes. I like Dr every time I have heard him interviewed of seen him on TV…didn’t like what I saw on field. He still has my support if he can show some progress.

I just don’t like the kickoff time. I sit in the east side and while I can take it, it won’t create a pleasant experience for my 6 year old.

Hell, you combine this game time, expected temperature and opponent – as bjd indicated you should probably pay fans for the game.

I do think it would be a great gesture for yow to spend the entire game on the east side of.the stands. Show up early and not.leave until game is over.

I don’t want to hear anything from ESPN or the NCAA about how they care about fans. It is insane to have games between noon-330 in August/early September in the south.

You put players and fans at risk. Back before ac people could handle it…..not many folks are outside any more between 1230-400…for 3.5 hours.

Graduation rate is a fools game. It encourages cheating and is entirely subjective. Translation: if you are trying to ensure that student athletes are both learning and literate it is the most idiotic measure possible.

The NCAA should administer tests for revenue generating sports….and if a certain % of athletes fail, you don’t field a team.

What is interesting/sad is the drop-off we have seen. Tob started out pretty good. However, it is pretty obvious it had gone off a cliff.

Hopefully dd will turn it around.

Wulfpackr – thank you for your thoughtful, reasonable dialogue on this. (Its the kind of discussion our society should be having.)

I do think it is a good thing that there is condemnation of racist thoughts, actions and words when it comes to whites being racist against blacks.

Where I believe there is a problem is that “ism” is not equal nor does potentially racist actions and what behavior society deems unacceptable.

For example, its fine to call a black Supreme Court Justice an “Uncle Tom” if his political and judicial views are to the right of his race’s consensus beliefs.

Black on black violence is tolerated and even glorified. There is a casual mainstream acceptance of violence and out of wedlock childbirth (when we know the damage it causes).

What concerns me is that as a society we are placing more importance on words than we are actions and that we are only increasingl the racial divide when some racism is deemed more damaging than others.

Finally, you are spot on about this not being a 1st amendment issue – anyone should understand that. It could be seen as a privacy issue – but I am not a huge advocate of expanded privacy protection in the constitution.

Well let’s see what this brave, new NBA does now. I mean they have to act right? I mean this is despicable, childish and unacceptable behavior… definitely not a lifetime ban but maybe rest of season:http://nypost.com/2014/04/28/shaq-under-fire-for-mocking-disabled-fans-selfie/

Wulfpacker and ruffles – let’s face it – Sterling is and has been a joke. But what I find more interesting is suspending someone for life because of this – when assault on a female is not a problem, assault in general not a problem.

Compare crimes – actions vs. Words – right? Didn’t out parents tell us sticks and stones will break our bones but words will not harm me.

I guess we have reached an age of where what you say and think is much more important than what you do.

Don’t worry guys – we are building a sparkling new indoor practice facility that will no doubt tilt the field in our favor.

Hell, I go to the game now to see friends I have had since college. If they stop going or stop being friends I would probably stop going too.

I have let go of those dreams of a magical season (really in any sport) and I may have enjoyed last season more than the one before.

As for HDTV it really depends on why you are watching the game. To me the biggest drawback with going to the game is the other college football I miss. Everything else is preferable at the game.
