Looked at bracket matrix and there about 132 brackets that they assess. I think 14 of them had UCLA. 85% of the brackets didn’t have UCLA in.

Here’s what to remember about college sports:

They could make the process transparent, predictable and subjective. That they choose not to tells you everything you need to know about them, their motives and their outlook.

Tough draw. But that’s what happens with an 8 seed. LSU is athletic but so are we!

I think we are a 9 or 10. Our opponent depends on seed (duh) but if we are a 8 or 9 I can see us having Kentucky if we are 8 or 9.

Nicely done Khan. Save some of that damn magic for the tourney.

What a run by the domers. They play a much more aesthetically pleasing brand of basketball than anyone in the conference.

Its not though. It’s a fact that a home game against a bottom feeder doesn’t help your RPI. OTOH, a road win almost always results in a good bump using the “new” formula.

Bjd – lots of assumptions there. I think Henderson will be our next good/great transfer that gott has wisely leveraged to build his roster.

I’d like to see lacy lose some lbs in the off season. I want him looking like tj last year or bonzi wells this year. But, if those players you mention all return (that’s a huge if) we can play with anyone in country and should be able to get into the top 4 in conference and a top 5 seed.

Why don’t we just jettison Notre Dame, Pitt, Louisville, Miami, cincy or navy to “the alaska” region in honor of Gary Williams.

Nice work vawolf. Next year’s schedule could be very tough if wake turns a corner.

Packerinrussia – I wasn’t wondering that. We got duke after 5 days off. The domers got them after 24 hours off. They aren’t a deep team and they extremely hard. Their legs were gone.

I wanted duke after their first game. When I saw our bigs and lacy dragging a bit Wednesday I figured Thursday we might not have enough in the tank.

I think we can do damage in the dance. Hopefully, we are not an 8 or 9 seed. If so, hopefully we aren’t in Kentucky or Wisconsin’s bracket.

As for next year, we should enjoy this year because we simply don’t know what next year will bring..aside from what the experience of being a middle-aged state fan has taught me: @ least one of those 7 cards in your hand that you like so much will get lost or you’ll screw up the hand.

I think we can have a special, non-bubble season if that does happen.

Tau – I am simply saying that I think there’s a decent chance 1 (or even 2) will weigh their options. Of those 2, barber is more likely (especially after the scare last night.)

Last year, I predicted lewis would transfer. I didn’t have any scoop – just a good melody, an understanding of the way college basketball works and IQ over 59.

If you noticed I haven’t criticized gott for transfers or kids for going pro or even kids for transferring… But please by all means feel free to start stuff with me. I have only been a die hard pack fan for 25 years I obviously just want to start stuff.
We typically have one early departure for the league at least one transfer. So I won’t be surprised if we have another.

But what I am saying is we can’t afford to lose cat, Anya or lacy if we want a special season. Hopefully, all 3 come back to school. Hopefully, the Martin twins both stay, hopefully we have just 1 transfer.

Heelh8tr – I should have said “who could be weighing the option” of leaving…. I don’t think Abu or Freeman are going anywhere.

Nicely played bjd! I am hoping that year 5 brings an upper tier finish and nice NCAA seed. However, there are 3 players we cannot afford to lose the upcoming off season and I think we all know who those are.

A couple of thoughts on previous posts.

    1) if you’re going to press (which cat was doing) – then expect the other team to do what they can to break the press.
    2) the “ruthlessness” you saw by the Duke team and players gives you a guess why they have so many banners hanging under coach k.
    3) regarding the bubble – if your tourney hopes come down to the last week of the regular season (which ours did) – you’re a “bubble” team. Its easy to forget that not even a week ago we were 8-8 with 2 games left in conference reeling from the BC loss.
    4) gott has done a good job to go to 4 tournaments in 4 years. There are still unanswered questions at this point in a 14 year coaching career in major conferences whether or not he is capable of winning a natty or even produce a team that is consistently in the top 3rd/upper tier of the conference.

Our kenpom and sagarin took a beating.

Biggest question today is health of cat. Both from a short-term NC state perspective but more importantly – cat’s long term health.

If he can go…hopefully team and staff were reminded again of the hunger and intensity great teams have. Can’t be too hard on them – they have won 6 of 8 in impressive fashion… But the 2 losses, oh my

I have stopped watching. Oh well, I will be tuning in selection Sunday to see where we go.

Is cat hurt? That wouldn’t be good and if so, we should get a goon out there to exact equivalent revenge.

Team looked great today. While Turner’s shot wasn’t falling he did a great job on the boards and didn’t force a durn thing. A very mature game.

What’s at stake tomorrow? A 7 seed with a “w”…. And IMHO, we suddenly become a quasi-favorite to win. Personally, I think out guys sans cat and turner and frenchie looked a bit tired…another hidden bonus: Lacy’s foul trouble may have saved his legs a bit.
