Tomorrow’s game is about respect. We still don’t have it – and truthfully, we’ve done nothing to earn it. We’ve lost in our last 3 trips to the sweet 16.

Until we do more – we’ ll be viewed as nothing but a solid team that wins individual big games but doesn’t consistently perform at a high level or hang banners. L

    Cat should trademark it.

I was hoping Dayton would hold on..pulling for the ville tonight I reckon.

Glad we have the extra time off. Only drawback is that this will undoubtedly mess up my bridge run Saturday… I will take it!!

    Wow. ACC 3-3 today.

And how bout gott – 4 years 2 sweet 16s. As others have said – hopefully this will help recruiting. But more than his coaching, I like the kids he’s bringing in.

Mak4pak – totally disagree. Turner didn’t have any room. They were making sure he didn’t get the ball in his spots. Turner – to his credit – didn’t force it and kept on working hard on his cuts and on d.

Nova was a 1 seed for a reason. Great game plan and great execution… We slipped a little bit in the last 3-4 possessions but its a rare that a team can execute to perfection.

Its clear gott loves this team and they love each other. Gott gets a ton of credit for putting together these pieces and recruiting these kids.

BTW – jay wright and nova’s players are as classy as you will find. Great comments by him and his team a after the game.

Jeremy – you don’t play for the Bearcats (or a coach like huggy) unless you are genuinely tough or at least see yourself as a tough guy.

They are a little frazzled right now. Got to survive this run

Cincy hanging tough with Kentucky. I love that we play them every year…physical and scrappy.

They will fight Kentucky for every inch.

The thing that gives me the most hope is Nova’s schedule. They haven’t played a lot of great teams. I am hoping that they will be shocked by our teams combination of size, skill, athleticism and toughness.

If we bring it like we brought it against UNC, Duke (at home), uva and the domers we will be fine and in the game at the end. OTOH, we know what else this goofy group is capable of.

You know. This whole grown up crap is overrated. You drink just enough to feel like crap in the morning and you only get to watch the night games, but not to many because you don’t want to be dragging on that fun run with your 7 year old.

Hey – one thing that won’t show up on the box score is a the good d on Hornsby. He got 1 good look all night and 3 of his 8 were on a banked 3. (And on a side note I have never seen the team who benefitted from the dreaded banked 3 lose.)

Bill – don’t say “y’all” – I thought we played hard if not smart most of 2nd half. Half of life is answering the bell right?

We answered it – really like we did no other time this season. Now we get to enjoy the NCAA for the next 36 or so hours.

But moments like tonight are why we endure the heartbreak. Right?

Everyone played a role…the biggest shocker – lacy rebounded like Charles Barkley the last few minutes.

Great to see kyle and dez play a pivotal role in a pivotal game.

Holy cow! I gott is definitely a players coach – he loves these guys and it looks like they love him. And the players love each other.

I wouldn’t normally say that – but when you see what they just showed in the locker room – you can see it. And that’s huge. No matter what – selling out like that and believing and supporting each other in the trenches like that…there’s nothing but good that can come from it.

Whiteshoes the only thing worse than our regular defense is our zone d!

We are soft. LSU is clearly more talented and ready to play.

Oh well. Here’s hoping for a second half miracle.

Bid – think what you are hoping for is that during his purgatory gott realized the critical importance of developing great defensive teams.

There are a lot of questions to be answered – but I think there’s a high likelihood that the improved d you are seeing results in 2 rare factors – 1) the quickness and intelligent defensive play of cat barber and 2)the presence of a post player with 2nd longest wingspan ever measured by the NBA.

If both of these guys are back next year and we improve to “good” defensively I don’t think that will necessarily mean that gott has embraced defense and is coaching it well…the proof will be in his future classes.

Regarding the sendek squad that collapsed vs both vandy and umd – to be fair -scooter didn’t play in either game due to an ankle sprain. Luck is a huge factor in those runs and the team that built sendek’s most successful regular season record included scooter. (And IMHO, scooter was a “winner” who could have been a huge factor in both of those games.)

Vawolf – what I would really like to see is some comparative research. What’s better at predicting the better team….heck, you might be able to look at the final ap poll too and see how close it is.

Long story short. If we can learn to play d under gott like we can play o – we can contend for a final 4 (on a somewhat regular basis.) However, if not – vive LA bubble!
