Whatever – I don’t know how anyone can’t see that scene in Clemson and not be impressed.

Out game – only negative – too many drops.

Clemson – FSU – slugfest. FSU is giving them everything Clemson wants. I am pulling for tigers which may be kiss of death.

BTW – very impressed with McGuire.

Its a damn shame Brisset just can’t throw the deep ball.

Good point on Samuels. It wasn’t that long ago when amato started a db as running back. (All right it was over 10 years ago, but it doesn’t seem that long ago.)

Here’s to hoping that we build on Clemson game momentum from the offensive side of the ball and our d finds its mojo again.

Its actually a huge game for the program.

At the end of the day, the only question that remains about DD – and it will ultimately decide where the DD era ends up in wolfpack lore – is his team’s ability to beat the teams they have a reasonable shot at winning. Like the 3 coaches before him, he has shown he can beat the teams he has better talent than (perhaps better than amato), he has shown that he can give the the elite in the conference a great game at home (though at this point not as good as his predecessors) …the only question that remains – and it killed the other 3 coaches – is how does the team do when facing a team with similar talent.

4 of next 5 games are “winnable” in the traditional sense. The 2 “winnable” games that we went winless in have put us in an awkward position – and it doesn’t help that the school 25 miles to the west is having a banner year.

It all starts Saturday – we take that one – I think we are a forces to be reckoned with.

Well Karl Hess obviously learned his lesson.

Also, what do you think swoff’s reaction would be if the refs next wore all those initials on their shoes.

Its true cow – tob allowed a 2 time infraction guy back on the team…I applauded the actions on Shad only because it was a third offense and the last one just indicated such a lousy a terrible lack of judgement that the kid obviously needed more of a timeout than a game or two.

As for Richardson – this is the first known incident for him. Coach d has earned our respect that he will be as strict as necessary (if not moreso.)

And let me tell you – IMHO – whether it’s within his control or not this guy is much stricter than tob.

IMHO – there are a lot of factors that should go in to the punishment – if any – for this incident. Is it his first “strike”? What was his BAC? Was he cooperative with arresting officer, etc.

Depending on the answers to those questions – his suspension should be anywhere from a half to a season.

    Thoughts on the game:
    Good offensive game plan.
Brisset with his best game this year.
Team didn’t quit and that’s very positive.
Hines is getting better every game.
Where was this offense vs. Va tech and the ‘ville?
DD and staff said that kicker makes them in peace. Hopefully they will get his head straight.
Announcers called out fans for poor second half starting attendance. I wouldn’t be surprised ifsomeone told them to bring this up…it obviously pisses DD off and probably does deb as well. IMHO -/they should consider eliminating pass outs for big games if situation doesn’t improve.

A quick Google search reveals the following:
    2014-15 predicted finish = 9th
    Actual finish: T-6th

    2013-14 predicted finish = 10th
    Actual finish: T-7th

So yes…there’s a definite trend, hopefully it continues. I think we know the reasons. Of course, we should probably thank them since we don’t handle success well.

I would be there but alas – I have a 7 year old… And missing Halloween to go to a football game is just one notch below missing Christmas especially since I live in the ardmore neighborhood in Winston.

But fear not wolfpackers – this may be just the recipe needed to break through. I wish I could be there – but next the game falls on this date – the decision will be just as easy (the other way around.)

As I stated in another thread… This doesn’t set up well for us. We give up big too many big plays and we don’t execute well enough offensively. Its absolutely critical for us to stay within striking distance for the first 2 quarters…if we do that it will be a ball game.

For those calling for more running – I somewhat agree. However, when shad went out we lost our bruiser – and we really don’t have another bruiser in the line-up with exception of Samuel… And if you take him out all of a sudden you’ve removed from his current position that he’s so effective at.

I did see evidence that the staff wants to use him in this role – but again – at this point it’s kind of a zero sum game. I was hoping Frazier could step into this role but apparently he’s not there yet.

As it is – when we lost Shad – we essentially made the defense’s job much easier – and against solid D’s – well we suck. I don’t think our passing game can be counted on to win us more than 3 conference games. And I don’t necessarily place that limitation on Brisset.

Clemson could get ugly. Our d gives up too many big plays and Clemson makes plenty. They also have a fast qb which is something else that has burned us in the past.

Finally, I will say this going into this game. The difference between Clemson’s offense and our last 2 opponents is every bit as big as the talent gap between our first 4 opponents and Louisville.

Brisset had one really bad mid range pass today. Aside from that he had one bad long pass, and another that was right on the money. Our receivers aren’t getting much separation and Brisset continues to hold on to the ball too long.

Like everyone in the stands today I saw the wide open receiver. You’d like to think general situational awareness would kick in there but I don’t know everything going on in that situation either.

The wake forest experience was nice today. Very relaxing… Nice fans. Wake goes out of their way to create an experience and you feel welcome if you don’t feel like you are watching big-time football. Our folks involved in the same piece in Raleigh could learn a thing or two from them.

At this point, we simply don’t know. But one thing is certain, it’s crazy to hire a young head coach and fire him for performa bynce when it doesn’t fall below – absolutely 100% pathetic.

Making this more complicated is the fact that he had the first winless conference team that I have ever seen at NC state and he followed that up with a second season that showed promise, but her was still 3-5.

I think for this year, we have to see what the team does out of the bye week. Are we rejuvenated and sharp? Or are we do we continue to have the temperament we’ve shown thus far – an inability to overcome bad breaks?

There is plenty to be concerned about but all we can do is wait and hope it gets better because in a situation like this, he has to be given a chance unless things get incredibly bad. Unfortunately, we aren’t quite out of those woods yet though I expect we get out of them on the 24th.

CD – I would have to see the line first. But, seriously – I have no desire to make money @ the expense of my pack. My hope is that during the bye we find our mojo – and finish in a way we all will be happy with. You see, this is when things get bad – when people would rather be right than see their team win – I saw it with moc and I saw it with sendek – and I ain’t one of those.

Great pic roo – and yes cowdog – we had some critical calls at critical times go against us.

Still, the last 2 games were a test…and we didn’t get a B, C or even a D….we got an F. And that reflects badly on both coaches and players and whoever created this train wreck of a schedule.

We gave up more yards and points to va tech in 1 quarter than they had in their entire last game. We had 2 – count them – 2 – yards in the 2nd quarter. It was like @ Clemson all over again.

Brisset holds on to the ball too long. Our D gets no pass rush – and we haven’t even bothered to try and find a back who will do the tough sledding in lieu of Shadrach. Our safeties – a day late and a dollar short. At this point, we are not a good football team, as a matter of fact, at present we are a bad one. Our conference record since dd has arrived is 3-15…the worst stretch ever in NC state football history.

Still, we have the bye week coming up and hopefully that yields something positive. I like DD and I want him to be successful. If we make good improvements in these next 6 games we can still have a solid season.

Kind of a perfect storm to sink us today….shad’s dismissal (which resulted in us throwing a lot of playbook out the door IMHO), 4 cupcakes vs a team that has been fighting and scratching just to keep from getting blown out, a red zone turnover early that totally changed the tenor of the ballgame, and nasty weather which negated a home field advantage.

At the end of the day we lost a game we could have won and got beaten by a team we had the talent to beat. Oh well, next 2 games will define our season and our direction. We will be playing against beaten down teams much like the one we played today….the difference is now, we’ve been pistol-whipped too. Hopefully, we show the same toughness Louisville displayed today.

And a into Raleigh comes a study in contrast…the ‘ville, who are responding to a new allegation that an assistant arranged paid companionship with players. Pitino was shocked – which I find odd since the way he handled his mistake paper by comparison.

As for shad – like dog said – its about what you expect from your players and walking the walk.

Hats off to coach d. This was a decision made with the long game in mind. It would have been very easy for him to laugh this off…as a couple of coaches with flashy jewelry would have… But he’s in this to win and to win right, I find that very encouraging and a stark contrast to the school down the road.

Make no mistake, we’re a less talented team without him, but this sends a message to all about the expectations of a football player at this school. I don’t think it was a coincidence that the team showed incredible grit vs. Louisville last year when he punished several of “his” guys – I hope we see the same time his year.

That attendance Saturday was embarrassing for the heels. Of course, the students and alumni may partially embarrassed by the ongoing academic scandal. Given the same set of circumstances and the lack of good tailgating options, I imagine the attendance at the Carter would be awful.

In general, attendance for noon games suck…of course, I believe if we were beating a big 5 conference team, I am willing to be a digit that at some time on that Saturday – the stadium would be full.

Our problem as a fan base is in general, we get there late and leave early….but we usually show up for at least some of the game.

Read somewhere that we are 6-0 ats – that’s impressive from both a coaching and execution standpoint.

Next week’s opponent is even so we will have to keep improving.

I worry that our soft schedule will result in us losing one of our 1st 2 legitimate games. I think back to 2001 when we played unc-ch at our place (with rivers at qb) and lost. I could see us losing to the ville or va tech simply because we were used to very bad opponents.

Should be the start of a transformative recruiting class.

And give gott tons of credit – he is making the most of a huge opportunity. They have done a great job laying the groundwork to have this great class.

And hopefully this year will not just be special because of recruiting.
