I’m probably in a very small minority here, but I fully believe Gott could take us to the final four if he can land us a couple of back to back top 10 recruiting years

Really? How many other coaches can you say that about? We saw the catch-22 demonstrated perfectly with Bam. In order to have top 10 recruiting classes he needs to get guys like Bam or Amile…but in order to do that he has to prove he can do something better than 12-6 in conference, 7-12 seeds in the NCAA tournament. He hasn’t done that in 4 years at state and didn’t sustain it at Alabama.

He’s done a great job here. He’s proven that we can win and be a consistent player on the national scene, but in order for him to get us to the next level he’s going to have to do something he hasn’t done in 15 years of coaching major college basketball. And I don’t think it matters who laces it up for him

Put me in the “better than we deserve” camp – but I will take it and run. This is a great get for the program. Hopefully, the bulldogs will be pissed and bring their c game.

Thank heavens that nightmare is over.

Clemson tried to give away that one…much like they did against Notre Dame, FSU and us…game confirmed what I thought… Marquis is much like brisset – but with more weapons and I think less smarts…once Clemson committed to run – game was over. But Clemson – our less choking sister school (of we may be the sister school… The homely one) – didn’t finish em.

Great games for first round of playoffs. Michigan state’s drive was epic. Bama is tough as nails…love saban. Would want my son to play for him or dantonio (maybe stoops too.)

I do think DD can be one of these guys. I am patient enough to wait – but like a child I will ask “are we there yet” every 5 minutes.

South Carolina makes a horrid hire. Maybe it works out but if I am gamecock fan….well, I would be livid.

    Mendenhall is an interesting hire.

As for czhick – time will tell.

Bjd – that’s good stuff. Keep in mind these guys are well schooled in gott’s d…and I actually thinkcat’s d isn’t as good as when he arrove.

I would be more inclined to like south Carolina if todd Ellis didn’t go there.

Cowdog – that’s a great point that no one ever makes. Whether it’s the right call or not the “railroad” call should result in suspension.

Idk bjd – for transfers accused of sexual assault UMd is the place…but I am glad gott isn’t stooping to those levels.

Hey, we know what we gott – I see one of two things happening in Raleigh – 1) he melts down in a similar fashion to Alabama or 2) we continue to get in the tournament as a bubble boy with a seed somewhere between 7-13.

There will be deviations, but after 14 years of coaching there’s a definite track record and while past performance doesn’t indicate future results, its foolish to expect much different.

Contrair wolfbluff – it is more of the result of capitalism.

As for the playoff expansion – I predict that is it will happen in about 5 years. There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth due to the teams omitted if unc-ch beats Clemson. (This will result in a 1 loss team – either tOSU or unc-ch – being excluded.) And I think there’s a very good chance of that occurring.

I need to catch up on the news…apparently, a law was passed dictating that I have to watch mid and lower-tiered bowl games.

To me, what is more interesting is the impact of the bowl game on the existing upper tier games and the cascading effect of this on both bowl and regular season attendance and viewership.

Jalen McClendon I believe is projected starter.

Bjd – I would hate to go the isolation route but it may be best – at least for that game.

Oh well. At least we didn’t lose to a team using a fullback as their starting qb.

Yes Tau – that’s very true.

Next year is huge. Unfortunately, it is set up so that another 3-5/6-6 regular season can be called a “success”

Sfn – yesterday definitely represented a relapse for me in my behavior as a fan. I should probably just stop going to this game…I approach it with such a sense of dread that it isn’t enjoyable unless we blow them out.

And I really don’t see how them and their fans wear their colors with pride, but alas, this is human nature.

Clarksa – it would have been interesting to see what the game would have been like without this call.

But again, when they needed to score they did. When they needed to keep us out of the end zone they did. When we needed to stop them, we didn’t.

As for our strategy versus theirs – this is why sociopaths are generally successful. If you don’t let a moral compass guide you, it’s very easy to achieve financial success. If Tony Romo doesn’t get hurt the cowboys are probably the top team in the NFC with a great offense and a d led by Greg Hardy.

Galt – you can’t say that the refs cost us the game (and I don’t think you are.) However, I would say there were two huge calls and one no call (the hold on 3rd down of their first drive) that made a competitive game less likely.

I also didn’t like us punting in our first drive.

I think I the team fought, but it looked like a mismatch out there. When they had to UNC scored. When we needed to stop them, we couldn’t.

To my question is – is this a personnel issue or an x and o issue? I suspect both.

It was obvious from game 1 that our receivers weren’t getting separation. It was also obvious that once someone with moderate speed broke through our dl up the middle they were going to get a big gain.

Well today sucked. We weren’t ready for 1st quarter.

If this game changed your thinking I don’t know why.

Go Clemson, go Irish, go sooners, roll Tide.

Bill – I didn’t watch the 2nd half but in the first half while I noticed lucky I didnt notice any grave miscarriages of justice. (Last night.)

Ksu is giving the heels everything they can handle. Watching Kansas – UNC is much softer than them.

Bill. I think we got the big covered… Abu…cat leads the team in scoring, assists and rebounds.

Hopefully team and staff can build on this. All 5 guys crash the boards, share the basketball, and avoid stupid fouls.

We gott talent and we gott ballers. We played super smart on defensive end and had a great gameplan. Our offense can be “iffy” and with a 30 second shot clock it shall remain so. Team can run.

Oh yeah, don’t look now but we got a kid who can back up the point just fine.

Cowdog – they are as talented as a team as we will face.

How about the foul shooting discrepancy… In our favor! Did LSU get screwed or did the refs call a decent game.

Wow. Great defensive game plan and executed perfectly.

Offensively we are a still a wip. But these are the games that give me a ton of hope.

Gonna say this – mav may shoot to much but he battles on the boards AND he ain’t remotely scared. He was huge in the ot. Very high iq game from the team where we battled like hell on the boards.

Cow – like most of the board, I think that gott is probably worst case – 2 seasons away from a hot seat. I think this is a good thing for the program’s stability if he can at least equal the results of his first year.

He has been coaching for 15 years and he has a track record. The problems you saw last night have been the problems his teams have had during thise 15 years. Those problems are why he doesn’t have the hardware of most other guys who have lasted that long. It’s also why the Bam’s of the world have had last minute changes of heart after he had put in tons of work on the recruiting trail.

He’s very close – but he needs to get past the ceiling of his first 15 years – and that will only happen when his team starts playing solid d for 40 minutes in most of their games.

Ph – if those shots would have clanged off – asu would have probably gotten the rebound. Probably the most frustrating element of Gott’s teams are its athleticism and size but lack of rebounding and solid d – and that’s been one of his calling cards since bama.

He’s next great defensive team will be his first.
