choppack1Participant
RW looked like he had a bad injury today.
As for Brisset, rumor has it, he was told to throw it to the open man. It is only rumor and I can’t imagine that being true, but if so, that explains a lot.
In year 1, he looked like a pro. In year 2, I thought his main sin was holding onto to the ball too long – but this is the classic “coachable” correction. I also think that it is helpful that for new England. – he doesn’t feel the like HE has to win the game.
choppack1ParticipantWufpacker – I agree with the gist of your statement. However, I include Kaepernick as one of the disrespectful ones…not because his sitting during the national anthem but because of his socks – which gave us a true view of his soul.
There have been legions of peaceful protesters who are there in the spirit of community and love.
My take on this is that a lot of the protests we see from young kids is done out of a lack of experience and perspective, but with an abundance of emotion and in many cases empathy and compassion.
Again, I think these conversations need to take place but they have to be open and done with the “everything we say in this room is forgiven so long as we say it and we are all willing to forgive.”
And I just don’t know about Les Miles…maybe he can take over our defenses, but his offenses have been atrocious since Jimbo left.
choppack1ParticipantInteresting, I don’t remember saying cops were terrible people…
Really? “Pigs in a blanket fry up like bacon!”
Or some backup qb the media has bent over backwards to defend wearing socks with pigs with a policeman’s hat.
choppack1ParticipantBack to football… interesting thread on an it’s about defensive havoc and how poorly our defense has faired giving up big plays and in generating turnovers – not sure why we kept Huxtable. Our d lacks speed in some areas. We also don’t seem to do much to confuse opposing qbs.
Against less talented offenses without much speed or creative coaching, we do fine because we have takent up front and you can’t just run it down our throats with our base d.
choppack1ParticipantDo you have to put your hands outside the car when you are pulled?
Gowolvs – I don’t but I have no context…I don’t know if he led them on a chase, I don’t know if the car was reported stolen, I don’t know if the driver had an outstanding warrant or had a felony, i dont know if he was being pulled over for a seat belt violation.
I do know this,at 415am 4 Saturday mornings ago I was leaving Winston for a triathlon – I passed a gas station where a cop had pulled over a ford explorer with heavily tinted windows. A cop in that situation has no idea what is in that car and what awaits him. I am sure he just wants to get home to his family.
I understand that folks face real discrimination – but it needs to be a two way conversation – and part of that conversation is probably not what those with their fist in the air want to hear.
choppack1ParticipantAgree there alias. That was pretty much my point…you break the law you will get caught, no matter how petty you think it is…and when you are caught, yes sir and no sir is all that is necessary.
Of course, just a weekend ago, I saw a black man pulled on market. No idea what he had done, but he wisely had both hands open out of the car.
choppack1ParticipantInternet jinx strikes again!
Dave Doeren sucks. So does Gott. We will never win the acc in basketball or football!!!!
choppack1ParticipantOf course, you and I looked like college idiots, and were clearly not a threat…you put us in a trailer park running away when someone I serving a warrant and the ending ain’t so funny.
choppack1ParticipantuT had their chances. At worst it should be 21-19. Of course, I should be 6-4.
choppack1ParticipantAnd I outran public safety one time.
choppack1ParticipantWell, college kids are young and naïve. They probably don’t understand statistics because I understand the difference in the outrage…but that’s just me.
And here is something that needs to be said…if you do lots of stuff wrong -even if it’s little stuff – you will get caught a d have interactions with the men in blue.
Heck, I have probably received 6 or 7 very minor tickets for expired inspection sticker, seat belt violation, literally rolling through a stop sign and even littering when I set an empty pizza box against a lamp stand because it didn’t fit in the garbage can (by an undercover cop).
choppack1ParticipantAt least fpr the last 11 years.
And yes alias I saw that. I am sure the same protest will be present at our games.
choppack1ParticipantUgh…
Looking forward to ut Florida. uT has taken Clemson’s place as the football equivalent to nc state basketball.
choppack1ParticipantBill – I believe you are right. Sadly. We would like to keep those good things about small town life wouldn’t we.
The best thing about small town life is that folks know each other and can form a cocoon- like existence when it comes to safety and ironically, even acceptance.
choppack1ParticipantBill – hold up – nothing special in knowing varsity…kind of like knowing yumyums if you live in Greensboro. If you are local, you must go.
I do worry that with boycotters of the world, the hot dog will eventually die – at least as we know it today.
And what you say about small towns is invariably true. From a moral standpoint, if I can build the same mousetrap as you in an ethical fashion, shouldn’t we both be allowed to sell it our neighbor? Let our neighbor decide?
For years, many towns on the south rightly benefited from the manufacturing gig. These towns will have to re-invent themselves to survive. Hopefully, we will have federal and state government that allows these towns to take more extreme measures.
choppack1ParticipantLongest run by ne qb since Steve grogan in 1978
choppack1ParticipantThat would be a TD!!! Great run by Jacoby
choppack1ParticipantPost not found paki.
I have to hand it to Rivera and Cam the way they are handling.
choppack1ParticipantYea bill – had some of those for dinner Tuesday night. A chicken and jalapeno and another one of the brand you mentioned.
Also, I am a huge fan of gameday Johnsonville brats…grilles and bathed in some cerveza
choppack1ParticipantKetchup is just something used for overcooked meat to get rid of the dry taste. No need to put ketchup on a hot dog.
And when it comes to he’s, Nathan’s are very good. I like Hebrew national.
Regarding moral leadership – it’s always pretty basic to me. To me, it’s a core value – hence, you won’t hear me talking about hiring Briles. If this Sandusky crap had broken 30 years earlier – you wouldn’t hear me talking about hiring Paterno.
I will put it this bluntly…if I didn’t like DD’s moral fiber – I would have wanted him fired after ECU. I think with a guy like Bobby Bowden – the line is a little grayer… although he came across as someone who was doing something for the kids (lest we forget he kicked out Randy Moss.)
choppack1ParticipantGrey – I didn’t say that. I just said that the loss makes his job more difficult and success less likely.
Another losing conference record will do the same. Every recruit is different. But most with the option want to play for a team that is going to play nationally significant games.
I think DD is ethically doing things the right way – and I expect nothing less. I would prefer it if he could get the Carter rocking.
I think it would make his job much easier.
choppack1ParticipantRegarding sports and corporate governance, self interest shouldn’t be considered (not saying it isn’t, but you have a duty to pursue ethical policies and advance the entity.)
From an individual perspective and at the government level, greater is definitely considered. However, again ethics and the case of governments – individual liberty and the realization that government does nothing without force – should always be at the forefront.
choppack1ParticipantAnd this is what concerned about the ecu game. You have a couple of years to strike…had we won at ECU, the atmosphere surrounding the program would be totally different. If he had lost to an established coach, it might have been different. But when you are no longer the new thing and you have nothing established to sell, the selling becomes quite difficult.
choppack1ParticipantIn general, it’s foolish for fans to complain about scheme, because what we’re really complaining about is the results.
Interestingly enough, coming into last year, we had a lot to be excited about on D…and against Vatech and Louisville the d did have us under the proverbial Mendoza line (24 points) for most of the game. The problem in those 2 games was that the offense didn’t reach the mendoza line (scoring 13 in each one.)
Then came the 2nd half of the season where we put up decent point totals vs UNC and Clemson, but couldn’t stop them when necessary. I will forever believe that we were headed for an upset in tally, but then Jimbo woke up and changed qbs…at which point we were shredded.
So, we get to see what happens with a bye week. Can we improve enough to get to 7-5?
choppack1ParticipantYea Bill. Like I said, after the ecu game we entered the “stay together for the kids” phase. Miracles can still happen.
He has done a nice job getting talent in various spots, but I just don’t think our D’s scheme/talent combo will allow us to be competitive.
This d would be fine 10 years ago, but with the advent of spread offenses we simply don’t have enough speed on the edges and in pass coverage. Again, what is most disappointing is that dd is a defensive guy and he kept hux.
This doesn’t bode well for his judgement, which doesn’t bode well for the future.
We are definitely a more talented program than we were 4 years ago, but record wise it will be quite a season if we make to 4-4 in conference.
