Two Bone’s stories that I remember most: (1) his explanation of why you foul to make the other team shoot free throws at the end of the game and (2) the Bones rule of free-throw shooting.
    (1) This one is a story and it goes like this: A little girl is at the fair with a dollar bill. She goes up to one booth and gets change for a dollar and to the next booth to get the change made back into a dollar. She repeats this process over and over as she goes around the fair. Someone observes what she is doing and asks her why. Her explanation is that as she repeats this process over and over some one is going to make a mistake: “… and it ain’t going to be me!”
    (2) This one is more of an observation. If a free throw shooter goes to the line to either shoot a one and one or two free throws and the first show bounces around the rim, maybe off the backboard once or twice but the ball still goes – the second shot will swish and be good.I have looked for those situations for years and years and while not 100% it is amazing how often it plays out.

My response to the original question would be yes Notre Dame is still Catholic, it just isn’t American Catholic. In recent years the american Catholic Church has been for more tied to the right wing than the world-wide Catholic church has been. Does Liberation Theology ring a bell? The current Pope making conciliatory remarks to the LGBTQ community? I listen to Catholic radio in the car sometimes. It is mostly run by the American catholic church and they are frequently complaining about what the Catholic Church as a whole is doing.

I didn’t catch the counting cards reference so I stuck with Dustin Hoffman and assumed he meant Marathon Man.

We seem to be spending an awful lot of time analyzing the 3 years at UNCW. Is there no data on his 10 years at Hargrave? He was basically coaching a very young college team there and playing other young college teams. At that level he was awarded 2 mythical national championships. What were his defenses like there?

Since you brought it up: Care to cite your your source for 70% of NC favors HB2? Every poll I have seen shows a much smaller number. Also, if that much of NC favors HB2 how the heck did our former governor lose in a year when Trump carried NC.

I am afraid that the most likely explanation is that it was believed that the NCAA would not have made their decision on Ted by now so no one worried about his papers. Either that or someone assumed that if his papers were good for being here they would be good for traveling to a US territory and back.

Do any of these guys who are becoming ex-head coaches move into consideration for our assistant coach position?

Has it occurred to anyone else that if we were to get through the first weekend, and if higher seeds advance otherwise, our next 3 games would be against ACC teams? First Louisville, then Virginia and we would then play Duke in the first round of the final four. Then if the higher seeds assumption continued we would play Kentucky for the national title. Or if the appropriate upsets were to occur we would catch UNx or Notre Dame in the final game. How weird would it be to go through another ACC tournament to get to play in the national title game?

I am in college station. Actually they have raised another $35 million that will go to improving the seatbacks and putting in some resturants so the new total is $485 million. Here is an article from the local paper:

They do love their Aggies here.
Edit: link did not seem to work. Here is the link, cut and paste:

During the mid 90s I only listened to some of the speciality shows because it was heavy metal as the bass programing. I like the current format much better.

I disagree somewhat on the ADs who should be committed. I don’t think they want the small school games becuase they are easy wins. They want the small school games because they will not in the end play a game away. Even if they sign the contract which requires a return home game at the other team’s place they will buy them out. They want the home games for the extra revenue they bring in. Bottom line is that ADs are really paid to worry about dollars not wins. Wins only matter to the extent that they influence dollars.
