BAMParticipant
I never posted much but read every posting. New content makes me tear up a little.
I just checked to see if my login still worked. To my surprise, it does! Figured, what the hell, let’s post something!
BAMParticipantSweet. I drafted him in my keeper league this year for like $4.
BAMParticipantSo helpful.
BAMParticipantCan someone explain the Angel of Death nickname for KW?
BAMParticipantIf you copy and paste the link it should work.
BAMParticipantConsensus seems to be (not in order): 1) BOOM! 2) Marching band 3) let team choose. I could get behind any of those in a heartbeat.
p.s. I wonder if any older folks at VT have a problem with ‘Enter Sandman’? I’m guessing given their on-the-field product they don’t care. Kinda like, if we were talking about NCSU playing in a BCS bowl right now I would not care about ‘Crazy Train’
BAMParticipantI’d much rather have the band play than Ozzy. How about the band… but add an electric guitar or something? A band backed by The band. Just an idea. I’ve seen marching bands with electric bass and elec guitar on the high school level. Or, like at basketball games, with the drum kit.
BAMParticipant“One thing that makes “Here Comes the Boom†great is the video of the big hits from previous games that is played along with it, you can’t help but cringe and scream BOOM with each hit. That is what fires me up, imagine the absolute euphoria we could have experienced this year with Nate!”
Agreed and agreed!
BAMParticipant“You want to know what should really be done? Ask the football players.”
Great idea! If they choose it, I have no qualms. I just fear it’s some disconnected computer jock making the call now.
Now that I think about it, I guess my real problem with Crazy Train is that there is no climax or crescendo, it’s just kinda blah the whole way through. Anyways, I’m not saying my opinion is correct, I mainly just wanted to hear others opinions and you all have done that! Thanks!BAMParticipantKinda on topic, I also think we should once a year have Kevin Nash (right?) in person to scream out “Wolfpack In The House!!!!!” … I think it would be especially awesome for a Thursday night or other nationally televised game.
BAMParticipant“It’s possible the powers making the decision have identified the music which connects with the largest group, but dissappoints the largest cohort ”
I think you are giving them way too much credit. Do you really think anything is “thought out” by that rag-tag marketing department?
BAMParticipant“Sounds to me like you enjoy anything with a “threat-level-red†beat in an urban or grunge genre. I guess that works if you’re hoping to pump up the students.”
Yes, the goal is to pump up those who can make the most noise, which is usually the students, 20 and 30-somethings… and not the elderly. Also, you want to get the players hyped up (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/hyped+up) and ready to kick some arse.
“It has an opposite effect for a lot of others – particularly traditionalist – who detest that kind of music.” I guess those people are offended at any sporting event? Why stop now?
BAMParticipant“Do you know the difference between mean and median?”
Yes, I took Stats in college. Using the mean, really old fans would have disproportionate pull on the average age. Using median, I probably am very close to the representative average age of a Wolfpack fan. We won’t even go into mode.
BAMParticipantYeah, the Training Day / ‘BOOM’ montage is the best we’ve ever had.
BAMParticipantOne idea my friends and I had (and tried to replicate with our own vocal boxes) was using the laugh from the beginning of ‘Crazy Train’ whenever a penalty is called on the opposing team. We had fun with that.
BAMParticipant“I work with teenagers, and they eat up the sounds of the 80s b/c that is what their parents play.”
And those are probably white kids playing Modern Warfare Black Ops instead of football. Hope the ACLU doesn’t see this comment!
p.s. I’m 33 and hate the Beatles and Stones. Hate is a strong word, I need a stronger one… loathe. Yes, that sums it up 🙂
BAMParticipantI think we should start a petition to bring BOOM back. I wonder what other schools use it. It would be nice to “own” a song like VT does with ‘Enter Sandman’. I’ve never been to an UNC home game, is it true they use ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ by Metallica? If so, that’s a shame. I LOVE that song for a getting the crowd pumped up song.
sidenote: P.O.D. has a new album coming out in 2011. I say as soon as it comes out ‘we’ (as in whoever makes these decisions for NCSU) scour it for a good tune to call dibs on and try it out.
BAMParticipant61Packer: Why not play the Wolfpack fight song when the team runs onto the field?
…you know, I could get on board with that.
BAMParticipant@Paramarine I understand your point, but if I’m paying $50 a game, I feel I’ve purchased the right to bitch about any and all parts of the production 🙂
