This could be as pyrrhic a win as we have ever recorded. Not only would we lose Markell (easier to transfer given the need for rehab), but also this could easily be the final straw that gets Brownell fired.
Then, the Tiggers immediately hire Will Wade.

For the record, Arch is my runaway #1 (because I don’t think Marshall would say yes, and might say no in a damaging way) and I am fine with either Holtmann or Wade as a #2.
Get below that, and I’m highly annoyed.
We had one good bubble, maybe, in the last 8-10 seasons. And that’s it. Forget about expanding from 68, if anything you should make the “First Four” ALL games amongst the last at-large teams (this would also make getting a 1/2 seed a better reward, since the 15 and 16s wouldd be marginally weaker).
Yep. With Arch, it will be exactly about “want to.” If that’s there, then everything else will absolutely fall into place unless we royally screw up.
And I do believe he’s first whatever we may say later.
Here’s the thing re Goodman. I’m sure it’s real…but he fished for it. Our job ain’t for everyone, it’s not UCLA or Kentucky, that everyone says yes to. Some would rather have NC State. Some tOSU. Some Florida (Arch already said no, perhaps). It all depends on your flavor preference, and your personality makeup.
Some guys would rather be left alone to do their thing, and don’t mind working in relative anonymity. That’s not our job. But you can become King of the World here. You will always be second banana in Columbus. As Rick Barnes learned, nobody will ever show up to weeknight games against “not Kansas” in Austin.
We wouldn’t WANT to hire a coach whose persona better fits a job in NC State’s tier that is a different flavor. Both parties will end up unhappy, even if the coach is pretty decent (this was HWSNBN at his best here).
FWIW, I would probably describe HWSNBN as mild-to-moderate gas with some belching. Not quite a turd, but not super pleasant either. 😀
Hey guys, PLEASE cut it out. We needs to be excellent to each other (as Bill and Ted taught us). Good Karma = Arch. Bad Karma = 3rd consecutive turd.
I do wonder if this winter means we will have another weirdly pleasant and mild summer, or if it will be 125 in July and August.
The legroom is a definite problem. I’m 6’2″ (or was before I started the age-related shrinking process), and I have no clue how anyone taller than that manages to sit down at all.
Nice review. The league is making itself rather cut and dry at this point, barring a tourney run by someone (likely Cuse if anybody).
