KeymasterIs that Hicks’ first ACC basket?
BJD95
Keymasterthe only thing ND does well at all is jack up 3s. Naturally, we have left the perimeter wide-ass open.
BJD95
KeymasterI absolutely LOVE Ted Kapita’s new fro. Perhaps Arch can select him for the honor when he brings back the Talibeard Tradition ™??
BJD95
KeymasterThus, you see DSJ screaming for the ball at the end of the half and GFK ignoring him. We are lucky we haven’t seen flat-out fistfights on the court at some point.
BJD95
KeymasterThe players have no chemistry with one another because of how MG “sells minutes” and none of them have any respect for the coach as an authority figure or a human being.
BJD95
KeymasterI had the sound down. What did Doris say?
Specifically praised then read from the Parrish CBS hit piece. Went on for like 5 minutes of game time.
BJD95
KeymasterAs always, the market will speak. If this was such a Herculean effort at such a “hard job” then surely Indiana and tOSU will end up in a bidding war over his services, right??
Surely he won’t just end up calling games on ESPNU again because nobody else will hire him??
BJD95
Keymasterwell, that escalated quickly…
BJD95
KeymasterReminder that MG worked for ESPN. He’s getting the full Pravda treatment.
BJD95
KeymasterRepeating the troll talking points and MG putting himself on the cross. THIS is why he shouldn’t be coaching out the string.
BJD95
KeymasterDoris Burke rightly points out Irish look tired/off to excuse their only being up 6.
BJD95
KeymasterMake it three!
/enjoys talking to self

KeymasterTwo nice plays in a row by Tall Atsur.
BJD95
KeymasterHicks showing why he ain’t played much.
BJD95
KeymasterDSJ isn’t the problem. DSJ having no rules applied to him is probably about 40-50% of the problem, or at least the most obvious manifestation of the problem.
BJD95
KeymasterESPN showed MG’s pre-game talk. It was very, very weird.
We look exactly the same as we have been.
BJD95
KeymasterI offered it to him.
During the Les era, KS came to Reynolds, and I had a student seat behind the opponent’s bench, which was always where I chose (and in those days, when one would get in line at 4am…one usually got to choose).
My entire goal during the shoot around was to get Ol’ Roy to laugh, and since I am indeed the nephew of his famous “high school coach” I was pretty sure I could.
Roy! We need you! Just LOOK at us, for Christ’s sake!! You can play golf with Dean twice a week!! Shit, you don’t even have to beat him if you’re afraid it will hurt his feelings, we’re not exactly proud at this point in time, just beat everybody else!! C’mon, Roy, it’ll be fun!!
He did laugh.

KeymasterAlmost like that all-nighter they play in AK on the day/night the sun never sets, eh?

KeymasterGod, that “Blue shadow” thing is SO STUPID. In a sport where 68 teams make the post-season tourney – and you can’t be bracketed against either until the S16, and usually not until the Regional Final…WHO CARES??
It’s an opportunity because you will get exposure for your program because college basketball is #1 here. The most important sport pretty much year-round. Institutional support. A vibrant, growing city environment that’s friendly to young players of all races.
You only find the area’s spotlight a negative if you want to hide away from being evaluated. There are plenty of places to be mediocre in front of 2500 fans per night, who are content with just not being God-awful.
This isn’t one of them. The right coach will understand that. The wrong one would fail anyway.
BJD95
KeymasterIt would be nice for us to do something right and maybe win a conference title (regular season or tourney).
Not holding my breath, naturally.
BJD95
KeymasterNaturally, Parrish points out only a very selective couple of “facts” and leaves lots of stuff out. All of the off-court dramatics, the wheels falling completely off in years 5 and 6 (with players in near-mutiny and only 1 guy signed for next year).
Only a complete moe-ron wouldn’t fire someone in these circumstances. It’s as obvious as obvious can be.
Miami doesn’t have the same downward trend – and yes, has lower expectations because it’s kind of a crap job. What Larranaga has done there (with next to zero support) is outstanding work.
And OF COURSE he brings up HWSNBN again, conveniently leaving out the fact that he flopped in the desert and was fired soon after Sidney Lowe, having to sit out of coaching at least a full year (maybe two??) before getting a low/mid-major job.
The only thing he gets right is that the last search was a shitshow, and underlines how important it is not to screw up this go-round. We’uns plum out of mulligans.
BJD95
KeymasterI look forward to watching THIS tourney run, and seeing a legit title contender for a change.
BJD95
KeymasterI only offer control because Arch is SO MUCH better than every Plan B name, and because I trust him. I’m not even sure he would exercise the power, it’s just a showing of OUR trust in and dedication to giving him everything he needs to succeed here.
As to the “shenanigans” – I agree they had impact, though not as much as the fact that MG played favorites (as he consistently did throughout his tenure, other than Year One). The larger lesson from both is that kids/teenagers can sniff a hypocrite a mile away, and they will have ZERO respect for you once they do.
Wanna know the genesis of “f-ck you” in the huddle and other similar stuff? That’s where you look. Not “bad apples” or a “lack of senior leadership.”
BJD95
KeymasterAll the stars are aligned to get Arch. This is his senior-laden team, best year for him to jump. He’s very fond of Raleigh, as supposedly is his wife. The only competing jobs will be B1G, and even they MAY not come open.
We just need not screw it up, or insult him by going in cheap to start negotiations. He needs to know we are serious, and are treating him like the star-level coach that he is.
7-year deal, $3.5M average value. Control over AD selection (hopefully sooner than later). NC State shall be ArchieWorld.

KeymasterI have been reading these predictions/suggestions of various news sources. This one takes the cake to a writer who is an absolute idiot. Check out the King Rice suggestion. He has no clue….At all. King Rice lol. Really King freaking Rice, hello do you not have a brain at all? That would never ever happen in Raleigh for no amount of success. Never! Check it out
I would suicide bomb the hockey arena if we tried to hire Queen Wheat. SERIOUSLY.
Also, pak/Dog – I listed to the Gravelly thing – doesn’t surprise me that little bit at 6:05. Because it was that toxic. I noted back in December that KH refused to huddle up when he was in the game. But to have a guy tell a coach “fuck you” when asked to pay attention to instruction during crunch time of a rivalry game like that…you have to wonder at the genesis of and just how deep the roots of the toxicity. And no way is that just or primarily “bad apples” players.
Maybe if you had an insane amount of upperclassman leadership, they could have rallied everybody and said “screw Coach, let’s win for ourselves” but instead we got what we got.
MG’s constantly taking verbal shots at the most popular guy on the team (again, KH) didn’t do him any favors, either.
