I once dated a (white) gal who went back to get her masters at UVA in African American studies. Believe it or not, it’s actually a quite difficult curriculum there.

Once, I said to her as we passed the statue on campus, you really are a veritable “Daughter of Jefferson” aren’t you?? She was most assuredly NOT amused.

Let’s kick some Slave F-cker U arse today!! I doubt we will, because Tony Bennett no doubt takes special pleasure in sticking it to Mark Gottfried. Plus, a disciplined defensive team against NC State = dumpster fire afternoon.

But here we shall be, for the King of all Hippos, at the very least. And of course, to document the atrocities at worst, whilst hoping for a pleasant surprise. One never knows.

rye, that is depressing. And if that holds sway, I will remain super depressed. Long way until NFL training camp can break said depression.

    No honors for DSJ.

Beejay/KH will get an absolutely thunderous ovation, and he sure as shit better start. I hope that DY has directly intervened on this matter.

Fingers crossed for Henderson, unless he simply wants to move on with his life.

Remember that at least one of the “premium” sites is a mouthpiece for the administration. And the administration specifically deflected media attention away from Dave Doeren before we hired him.

Until I get updated and negative word from my guy who has at least some sourcing close to Team Miller, I am going to remain cautiously optimistic here.

One would also have to be doing extremely careful diligence on a dude coming from Louisville in the timeframe in which Keatts did. If he’s in the conversation on the B- list, we need be doing that NOW.

I’ve also had to teach my kids about how generally meaningless “organic” is. The key is finding stuff without additives, that is (at worst) minimally processed, or in stuff that IS mixtures or blends, has a SHORT list of ingredients.

For me, this is less about modern juju and more about my crippling migraines (which did sadly get passed down, though less frequently in the chill’uns).

It’s also good to shop at stores (unlike Walmart and on the other end of the spectrum but just as bad, Whole Foods) where you can trust more of what they say when they offer something up as “minimally processed” etc. Locally, I like Publix, Fresh Market, and Trader Joe’s. All pretty honest places where you get what you pay for.

Best of the old, best of the new is some good damned wisdom. Agriculture and the “local, healthy food” movement can intersect with the people who don’t want to just preach, like mentioned above.

    Ya know?

There really isn’t much of a coaching carousel going on this year, in the first place.

tOSU and Indiana would cause lots of other dominoes to fall, I’d expect. But I don’t get a great read on either situation, since I find the B1G so generally unwatchable.

That yahoo article seemed to indicate they both could get another year unless they parachuted to their own version of Arizona State.

Yeah, I heard last week that when the Martin twins left, they had nowhere to go. That just doesn’t happen, kids transferring blindly into the wilderness like that. “Program” kids, too. We should have known it was all irrevocably on fire then, but c’est la vie.

We probably ARE better off searching now, at least we have Markell and Kapita in tow (if they can be convinced to stay), and the timing is better for Arch (he would have wanted to coach this year’s roster).

^ Marshall is also a VERY DIFFICULT cat to read. It’s the ultimate “all in” move to target him, and I think we would have to get really bad signals from Team Miller in order to do so.

I do think he COULD see a fit here, especially with the K/Boeheim/Ol’ Roy timing. He definitely wants to be King Shit. But would Indiana still offer him that opportunity, plus an environment more similar to what his family is used to?

Indiana could and likely WOULD also offer him the $5-6M per year he’s likely expecting. I don’t believe we can.

This search is weird, because the “tier 2” guys DO feel more like 3s (or B- as I have called them). There isn’t really much I feel good about as a fallback, though that doesn’t mean said good candidates aren’t out there. I just don’t see them as readily as a Mark Turgeon from last time, etc.

On the flip side, we have a much better shot at one of the true A-list guys than usual (Arch) which further increases the potential “disappointment gap.”

And yes, Roo is just Roo, so I think it’s cool to mostly let him vent, but that last one went a little far and I can see how it rubbed people the wrong way. We don’t want it to take over the conversation.

So yeah, let’s keep the clean slate moving forward.

We have to send good wolven Karma into the universe so it sends us Arch back instead of another turd.

OK, let’s move along from the fracas-ing. The general rule is socio-polotical stuff should be tangential and mostly light-hearted in sports threads, so we don’t end up with an unhealthy environment.

Unless it’s a politics thread, though we typically don’t have many of them, or for long, because they get…uh, nuclear.

Especially when we are, for once, mostly on the same page. Coach search season!! Let’s stay off each other’s throats. Clean slate time.

I called it “the V standard” – although technically V had 2 ACC titles AND 1 regular season crown – tis a bigger pool now (plus the national championship), it is:

    Over 10 seasons:

    7 NCAA bids
    3 Sweet 16s
    1 Final Four
1 ACC title (regular season or tourney)

If you do that, I’m generally gonna be happy.

Eventually, Wahoowa is gonna get that “Why Can’t We Get to the Final Four/Is This Ralph Sampson Curse All Over Again??” fever, but agreed, Bennett has progressed far enough – and critically – WON AN ACC TITLE – that his rebuilding years are still quite good.

I bet he still embarrasses us on Saturday.

Yeah, some improvements are easier than others. Lots of guys can do Levels 1 and 2 (as chop outlines above). 3 and 4? That’s where one’s pay is truly earned. Or one’s pink slip.

1 more win gets us .500 overall. Prolly need at least 2-3 to get NIT bubble. Not sure we’d accept, though.
