a-dri-ard-i… oh a-dri-ard-i…. where forth are thou ???

Perhaps as a “representative” of the Technician staff… one might find it beneficial to consider all the words in a sentence AND those “not’ used, and the contexts thereto before jumping to irrational and unsupported conclusions… or haven’t you taken English 111 over there in Winston Hall yet ??

You might find the use of the conditional “may” combined with no statement that any such thing had actually happened… meaningful.

Or you might get a job on sports talk radio one day….

^67… you’ve heard something from inside the HOLE ??
Uncle Roy’s only going to play Paige ten minutes tonight ???

    Wow !!

And you got a good gameplan there… just need the execution.
The easiest way for CUZ to be the best on the floor…
is to go right at MacAdoo from the start…. get two-three fouls on him and put him on the bench or die trying…

    +1 –13OT….

Maybe it’s playing ‘scared’ or maybe it’s ‘too pumped up’ for the games…
(definitely the case with ANTHONY in the Dean Dome and his thinking HE was gonna beat the Holes all by himself.. )
it doesn’t really matter as the result is exactly the same…

IMO… freshman should NOT even be expected, or asked to play, much less start, in any away game withing 75 miles of campus….

Across the country, The backbone of most of the most successful teams this season is a strong group of upperclassmen….
Until that’s the case for NCState … what you see is what you get….
If that is not a major part of the plan … then that’s another story….

And anybody that thinks we are going to promised land by out recruiting everybody and getting more out of our freshman and sophomores than everybody…
perhaps needs to rethink their position…. to put it politely….

    Never bet against the GHOSTS.

… :>} some of ya’ll are spending waaay to much time thinking about this game….

I’ve seen about a hundred of these State v *NC games…
I am pretty sure I have already seen tonight’s game at least once….

The fun part is I don’t know which one… so I GOTT to watch to find out.

    ———–

The keys to this game are real simple…

    1. Can / Will our kids play forty minutes of their best team game and can we be multi-dimensional on the offensive end of the court — that means three guys in double digits and everybody hitting the boards??

    2. Do the fouls… there’s gonna be plenty of them tonight… fall on us or them or equally??
Remember… Neither team is especially deep… and both have been foul prone across the front line…

Both of those are wildcards… which makes the 4 point spread (the average of all projected results) make sense but the curve on the spread is an inverted logarithmic curve…

    To put that another way…
the chances of a double digit win by the holes are about 50%…
the chances of a double digit win by the Pack are about 30%…
the chances of the outcome determined by free throws and the last shot are about 20%…

    ————-

That’s the logical conclusion from here…

    But as alluded to above…
This game brings out the GHOSTS…. and when the Ghosts show up in force… anything is possible.

    Never bet against the GHOSTS.

^They all, including CUZ, have “improved”….

Come on… it’s virtually impossible to do anything 6 hours a day – 6 days a week – for 6 months and not get better at some aspects of it…. this is especially true in the case of basketball.

…even ANTHONY… who GOTT 4 minutes on the court against the Hokies… has improved…. In his case… his understanding of the importance of playing within a team first structure has been ‘improving’ all season which bodes well for his future.

The intangibles which cannot be measured are just as important as the tangibles which can be measured both at the individual level and at the team level.

For example… my most important “litmus test” for any member of any member is this…
“When that team member does whatever they do… do they make everybody around them better?”

The “observed” answer is, generally speaking, pretty clear cut — either yes or no… but it cannot be quantified. It’s just yes or no.

Now in CUZ’s case… it’s pretty clear by now CUZ is going to get his Twenty points and his 8 rebounds every night … doesn’t matter who the opposition is or what D they’re running… except when playing in the Dean Dome.

And on average over a season and a half, roughly speaking, a third of those are coming from set plays, a third of those are coming on rebounds and pickups, and a third of those are coming on fast breaks… same last season as this…. And two thirds of CUZ’s production is coming when the outcome of the game is not in question. Efficiency varies statistically only with respect to mix here on any given night.

So if you’re coaching and you want to challenge CUZ to “improve”….
the next “level” for CUZ may only boil down to two things or three things:
    1. Help / Lead your teammates to play better …
    2. To produce when the game is on the line…
    3. Cut out the 6 – 8 minute (second half) dead spots when he’s invisible on the court.

The good news is that the last two or three games it’s seems that’s exactly what he’s trying to do.

We know the kids are going to be two steps forward and one step backwards as they grow… they’re kids…
That said… measuring all this -quantitatively- may be somewhat similar to measuring climate change…

    I’m with Jiggs … or I’m with ‘Foose…. I don’t know….
Maybe ya’ll are saying the same things…. who knows….

There is a substantive difference between “better defined as improvement in ability” and “better simply defined as more of”…

Yep… there’s no question his output is up in the absence of more dominant players…
but what exactly is CUZ doing “better as improvement” this year than last year…

    dribbling ?
    passing ?
    shooting ?
    free throws ?
    rebounds ?
    defense ?
    team leadership ?

… Well … lest anyone forget… Coaches don’t control how the offense runs or who it runs thru…. Players do.

Coaches may guide, instruct, suggest, discipline, throw temper tantrums, etc, etc, etc… but once the kids cross the white line and the clock starts… about all the Coach can do is watch and yell….

I ain’t so 100% sure that the Coaches plan this year is to run the offense thru Cuz….
And there is little, if any, concrete evidence to the fact.

To say… so goes CUZ… so goes the PACK may be shortsighted…. in the least….

Perhaps it’s more a matter of “water finding it’s own course in 35 secs or less”… as the team develops and each member makes improvements in their roles and contributions….

Early on… Cuz GOTT the ball a lot … because nobody else really wanted it….
Some games… Cuz just takes the ball and does what he does… and the rest of the guys watch…

Some games.. Cuz just disappears for long periods of time, especially in the second half….

Our best offensive games have all been games where other guys stepped up first and Cuz cleaned up…

That last thing — three guys in double digits every night– to me, is much more indicative, of Coach’s season long plan for this team…. much more so than either one of the first three.

… maybe a little specificity and clarity with respects to vocabulary would prove beneficial to those with high blood pressure, eye strain, hardening of the arteries and other assorted ailments resulting from #NCSTATESH%T — the basketball variety…..

The queston is NOT “Are referees determining the outcome of games?”
    This answer is moot.

The question properly stated is “Are some referees making calls or not making calls with the intentions of favoring the game outcome for some teams or against other teams.

The evidence at hand at best would support a conclusions similar to
    “where there’s smoke… there’s fire…” or
“if it looks like duck, walks like a duck, and talks like a duck… it must be a duck…” or
    “you can put lipstick on a pig… but it’s still a pig…”

Tell Coach( speaking to the ‘Cuse AD by phone)… “It would be a good idea to stay on the bench…”

    and

“A little drama is not all bad in the whole scheme of things,” Swofford said with a laugh. “We’ve had a lot of drama throughout the history of this league, particularly in basketball. That is part of what makes it the great basketball league it is. And Syracuse adds tremendously to our league.”

^With the turnover/transfer rate among kids playing roundball these days…. ain’t no “easy years” but for a very few schools….

The more stars (as in ratings) on the team the bigger the headaches….

It’s almost like starting from scratch most every season… unless you GOTT leadership ON the bench and ON the court.

ALL of our returning kids have improved and are “better” this year than last….
ALL of our new kids have improved and are “better” now than in August….

Has everybody met everybody’s expectations, projections (real or fantastic ) , including their own ???
    That’s a dumbA$$ question… so don’t bother answering….

Has anyone done the best they can do?
    That’s another dumbA$$ questions… so don’t bother answering that one either….

Everybody here still has GOTT a lot of room for improvement.

This has been a fun team to watch grow… so sit back and enjoy the rest of the season…
There’s gonna be some surprises and some SMH and a couple of WTFs…

    ^Probably…

But it’s better than making a loss feel like a loss…. as was the case earlier this week..

    It’s all good….

First thing Coach said in the postgamer… was about how the things our kid’s have learned this season are reflected on the court….

reading the CoachSpeak… what he was really saying was …

our kids started the season having to learn a whole lot real fast ( and I mean a WHOLE F’ING LOT ) and that none of them have quit, some are “learning” faster than others and some of what I and the rest of my staff have been busting our butts nonstop is finally showing up on the court… I mean Tony… I wish I could really tell you and everybody over there at SFN how f’ing “far” some of these kids have come in a very short period of time but I can’t because then I would have to tell ya’ll exactly where some of the kids started and exactly what they brought and what they did not bring to the party… which would not help anybody do their job better… so I’m going to shut up about that now… okay… and don’t ask me why some sit and some play… okay ???
