Truth is… Leonard Hamilton did a great job of taking his team as far as he did in the Dance….ok… It would have been a damn shame for us to walk around reminding folks that that the WOLFPACK beat two Final Four teams by 11 and 20 points… so now we don’t have to worry ’bout all ‘dat…. besides… we mighta got cocky, or something…

I’d be ‘surprised’ if there weren’t one or two guards who transfer out…

The work John Lucas has been doing in his “Camp” with young men contradicts all of those stories and is undoubtedly the “Best Work” of his life…

Yeah… ya’ll know we have 5 freshman coming in — all 6’7″ – 6’11” and who among us wouldn’t trade those 5 for 1 – 7footer ?
The larger point made in the link above I believe is this…
“[In one year or less] Keatts has essentially already flipped the roster. Ten of the 12 scholarship players were recruited by Keatts, and all 10 appear to fit how he wants to play on both sides of the ball.“
That’s the plus side of the revolving door….

1. Nobody — inside the organization… since the about the 10th day of February…
2. As far as the “open” spot goes… somebody as good or better will fill that… may or may not be a BIG…
3. And as far as kids transferring… For as long as #2 remains true… who really cares anymore ?
I’ve gotten use to the ‘revolving door’…

Another Old Farmer and were talking about the ‘psychology’ of farming…
How when when that certain something tells you it’s time to do something and how at that point ain’t nothing stopping you… and how when you go to “the field” to do something, you ain’t coming out of the field until you’re finished, and nothing else matters, not money, not dinnertime… nothing,,,

#NCSU-North Carolina's #1 FOOTBALL school!When the program, the Coach and the players are 110% into their established “Playbook”, with a given amount of upper class ‘talent’ and leadership, they are going to successful. by any measure, during the regular season….
The problem ALL those Programs have ALWAYS had was after they arrove at the Dance, they really didn’t understand that they needed to step it up AND open it up a notch or three…. especially when they played the random team early in the tournament that on that night was playing hot, hard and honestly way above themselves, especially if that was in a way that’s the polar opposite of the System’s strength…. (e.g. run and gun v. stall ball)
Those games become battles of will, not of system or strategy, for the Coach and the players … and enforcing your will on the other team often requires beating the other guys at their game, NOT making them play your game…
“Trust the System, not your emotions” works well over the long term when you playing for the percentages…. but on any given night, in a Survive and Advance game, is a razor-sharp, double edged, sword for both System Coaches and players… in similar ways to “slow money” v. “fast money”…
There’s an irrefutable conflict when whatever “Doing What It Takes to Win” on those nights is not in your playbook or not fully endorsed by your Coach….
First you learn the rules, then you learn how and when to break them correctly….

I did put out 0-0-7 pre-emergent about 2-3 weeks ago.
It had already emerged!!!
RE: Pre-emergents….
The first March after I bought the turf farm (2001), I walked in the office one day and the office manager said…
“I needed some money to pay a fertilizer bill.”
“How much?”
“$17000 for 24 tons.”
I swallowed hard and asked… “Why so much?”
“It’s 16-4-4 with pre-emergent for the bermuda grass.”
“ok… at the same time, thinking 16-8-8 in ton totes is $200 a ton…
By the middle of June the bermuda is ready to harvest….
One day she said…
“I needed some money to pay a chemical bill.”
“How much?”
“$2000 for MSMA to kill crabgrass in the bermuda grass.”
“But what about that $17,000 for the fertilizer/pre-emerent?”
“Sometimes it works… sometimes it doesn’t…”
I thought to myself…
“ok…welcome to farming….”
That summer the ballfield / golfcourse business was slow and we sold just enough bermuda grass to pay that fertilizer bill…
Bottom line here is I immediately enacted the “Don’t fix a problem until you see the problem” policy and hadn’t bought any pre-emergents since…
By the next spring, the office manager was working elsewhere…
Now, I’m not saying that’s right for everybody, everywhere, every time… Just telling a farming story…
