I like Smith, hes a talented freshman. He also knows it. I like it when he feeds the ball like now to take the lead over taking the ball into his own hands and producing a TO. My only gripe is he takes the team out of their game as some say by taking over the game instead of letting the game come to him… and the team. Some of it is being a freshman. Some of it is being a highly rated NBA pick before playing one game in Red/White. And a lot is on the piss poor coaching direction he gets.
Just checking see if you was lurking Troll. I agree, he’s REALLY REALLY good. But he is NOT playing within the team concept well, and the chemistry is getting seriously f-cked
Unfortunately being good after college and in the NBA does little for the Wolfpack.Time to ruffle some trolls here…..DSJ is way overated. How many layups he missed? how many careless passes? How many unforced turnovers. Johnson is more in control.
Last night was about low turnout ever seen in PNC for a ACC home game. It was reported 15,900 as attendance, no way. The top circle was maybe 1000. The lower bowl was visibly absent of its big donors feet. It was also obvious the big dawgs saw it as Woodson and DY, along with other powers to be, in attendance during halftime recognition of Pack Scholar Athletes for fall sports.
Gott, and Pierce was about as loud and animated on the sidelines as ever seen in a game. Guess they also took note of the absence of feet.Q. How can you tell a Debbie Yow coaching hire?
A. Easy – just have them play a team from Boston College.Pitt game finally over, 5 minutes of commercial and finally the Pack game in progress knotted at 12.
You need get over it. And for the record, don’t have to go back read anything. I never said anything bout LoBrown or any pg not on the roster now or in past. You obviously were confused then and now.
Hope the Pack comes out with an attitude tonite, and hope Troll loses his. Noboby…Nobody has suggested DSJ should be benched tonite. Some, like myself said he came out and set the wrong tone from the get go at the other Hill. It was followed by more bad mojo. Get over it Troll, don’t go Greyson Allen because some have a different perspective how the last game started. Anywho, that game is over, its a L. Tonight is opportunity for the team to rebound quickly and make a statement. It will be interesting to see how this team recovers and reacts to the drubbing. Go Pack !
There’s a few things that “most” seem to agree with here about our basketball program…
(1) Gott is a good recruiter but not so much a good in game coach. He has elevated the program but has perhaps reached a ceiling.
(2) The talent level on this years team is one of the best overall in years. Without mass exodus, which history shows there will be some transfers and this season, one and done, the program could be in the best shape overall in years.
(3) Yow has not made some good moves, hires and extensions regarding the basketball program. Perhaps in general for all top tier sports. Yow and Gott has too much of a personal relationship that possibly influences change. Time for her to retire.
(4) Our facilities and resources are as good, maybe better, than most P5 programs.
(5) A new coach, fill in the blank here, seems to be the solution, barring any miracle play and upward direction this team suddenly goes, is wanted…..needed…..required.
(6) A new AD will happen, time table dependent on results, administration, retirement. A new AD should make any new hires, specially for basketball.
(7) Archie Miller would be a good candidate as new coach. He is a former player with head coaching experience and a proven record.Most arm chair coaches and/or long time donors here are in agreement Miller could be a good hire, right? Would most be in agreement to allow Yow to hire the next coach if Miller was the choice? Say a closed door agreement was done? I understand that’s easier said than done, specially with her ties to Gott and retirement coming.
But if the choice was obvious, no search process needed, the candidate available, is there any reason our current AD should not be allowed not make it happen? I can see a coach like Miller perhaps not being as eager to come not knowing who his boss will be, but if Yow could do it with a smooth transition, should “other” variables be overlooked?
