BassPackerParticipant
Group of Pack fans watching game. One has a kid now at State. They said the university issued a letter prior to game that Mark Gottfried would be fired at end of season. Reason given is marital problems had spread into his university duties as a coach. I find this very interesting. Why would NC State issue such a letter to parents?
BassPackerParticipantHope noboday bought tickets for da plane or popped the bubbly. Its not on WTVD website because it didn’t happen. I think someone is jumping the gun on this post. I saw Mark Armstrong report at 6. No where DID he say Gott was fired. He said reports are Gott will be fired at season end. If you read DY email reply to my email to her, then anyone could say Gott could be fired at end of season as DY stated decision will be made at end of season in requards to Gotts future. He also said that Gott will be the head basketball coach till end of season. Nowhere did he imply Gott was fired today. Armstrong basically reported State fans have had enough of Gott and his antics. He showed snippet of Gott post game after Wake presser in which he said he plans to be at State for years to come. What happens will happen at end of season. Nothing new here…..move along.

BassPackerParticipantSpend over 300 days a year towing a boat across this great nation. Used them all, seen them all in different situations at boat ramps, different weather conditions and rode in most. I always laugh when someone brings up gas mileage when looking a truck. If you want good gas mileage, get a corolla. If you want a truck, look more what you will use it for. Towing, hauling or mud slinging. I use one mainly for towing. Own two now, a z71 Chevrolet and a Toyota 4×4 Tundra. The Tundra is a power beast. It does love gas but again, a corolla won’t pull a 3000 lb boat. The Silverado rides best, seems more roomy but its more open than my Tundra. Some of my fishing Buds have gone to the Ram truck. They all say it was a good move from previous Ford or Chevy. Used a Ram a lot last year, I was impressed with it but something about the front end view while driving just didn’t seem pleasing.
A couple Buds use Fords, they all swear by them. They are diesel and from my experience, if you want a diesel, stay away from the Duramax. Seen several Chevys have transmission problems when towing like we do. Not knocking a brand, all have problems. I had a Ford truck few years back. Had problems with the brake calibers from the day drove off lot. Dealership never could figure out why. Finally said it was because I pulled a boat long distance, heating the calibers, then while backing up my boat to launch at ramp would submerge the front calibers causing them to cool quick. I just shook my head because if my back tire is even touching the water while launching the boat, I’m too deep. Traded for the Silverado, never looked at a Ford again.
Point is, consider truck more for your needs. If towing, check gross weight with what pulling. I will never own another truck that is not four wheel drive. Don’t use it much but times its nice have. But if not 4×4, get one with anti-slip differential. Price can really vary too. The Tundra’s are nice, but they are by far the most expensive. Alot of bells and whistles now in all trucks. If I had to pick one truck overall for performance, ride, towing and maybe gas mileage, it would be a 4×4 Chevrolet Silverado either LZ or Z71.
Edit note: All my trucks are crew cab, its well worth the extra money and room. My wife loves it and we can haul all our tailgate gear and family to Carter with ease. Only issue seen with 4 door truck is shorter bed but I’m not using trucks for hauling as more towing. Its really not that big difference in bed size compared to the luxury of having 4 doors. Good luck !!
BassPackerParticipantDidn’t take long for AD Yow to respond to my email. Not sure if it actually was a response or some pre-written response on file for all us calling for change. It has a general mass produced feel to it, none the less, her is AD Yow reply to my email:
“I am in tune with the issues in our basketball program.
I understand how frustrating this is for you. Please know that the
outcomes of this entire season will be addressed once the last game
has been played.
In the meantime my role continues to be one of support and
encouragement for our players and for our coaches.
The four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, 2 sweet 16s, beating
the number one regional seed in Villanova two years ago, the win
against UNCCH where we held them to the lowest point total in Dean
Dome history two years ago and the win at Duke this year for the first
time in 22 years are all appreciated.
That said, we have struggled in years five and six of Coach
Gottfried’s tenure. Again, that will be addressed after the last game
is played.
Thank you for writing and for sharing your perspective. That is always
appreciated. In the spirit of the Pack,
Debbie Yow ”
Seems she and the administration is more about pointing out the few positives than the current rain of negatives that will lead to a 7 year flood.
BassPackerParticipantNot Time for project or assistant coach to head coach move. Time for an experienced, bigger hire is only way out of this mess. I think Archie Miller fits that category. He has the head coach experience and after seeing what Gott put on the floor last nite, a bigger hire. Not been one to favor the family hire but think Miller has the credentials to warrant such a hire. And AD Yow should not be a negative in making a Miller Move. Wishful thinking perhaps…..
BassPackerParticipantExcellent post Roo. Only thing I can add or ask is “Why wait till the last week to fire off those emails”? Time is NOW! I fired mine off this morning and it felt good. Time for a Redvolution, time for our #MarchMadness. #RedLivesMatter
BassPackerParticipantGood point Hamlet. Count me in on that move NOW !!! Tired of being the butt of jokes, the team that sets record point loses, the team that allows opposing players to set records, sometimes in our own house and the team that again will play the play in games. Do as I did, which is rare….email the Chancellor and AD Yow with your thoughts. I DID and it felt good. Time we as Pack Alum, WPC members, LTR seat holders and fans start our own movement. #RedLivesMatter #RLM
BassPackerParticipantJust the thought having that happen must less even suggesting that happen really pisses me off. So DSJ should just say the “hell with it, its not worth it”? I will say this, let it happen and me along with every LTR seat holder who is already fed up with whats going on with NC State Athletics will top any Anti-Trump protest. Bad enough that all have signed a contract to support (pay) with priviledge of a seat to watch this disaster implode with little recourse but give up what we already paid. SMH !!!
BassPackerParticipantBTT. Little late on this one troll.

And we will finish DEAD Last in conference. Amazing ! The Gott snake oil show is over for prospects, players and fans. Only thing that can right this ship is fire Gott by nights end.

16 point lead 8 mins go
7 point loss
0-5 road game loss streak brokenPriceless is Gott
BassPackerParticipant^Roo, that’s from section 201. Both sides were just as empty. As was the seats on the sideline sections. Over half the lower bowl behind the goals was empty with a couple sections completely empty. This was not second half pic, it was well into the first half where most that was coming had time to be in their seats. Its telling……
BassPackerParticipantGott may survive, but this was the PNC last home ACC game at about 10 minute mark of first half. the entire upper bowl was almost vacant. My bride made comment she had never seen so few for a ACC home game. This speaks volumes and will only get worse. The bottom bowl is not as telling as most have invested too much not to go or least give the seats to someone who will go. Who is noticing is the question.
BassPackerParticipant2 Top Louisville guards out
6 days to prepare
25 point lossGott is Priceless
BassPackerParticipantBassPackerParticipantI thought this was a “Dirty” Fisher.
BassPackerParticipantBeen long time since Pack made the National News scroll with some positive headlines. This was followed by Trump headline on CBS News.
BassPackerParticipantHere’s hoping Gott saw the light with using players like Kapita more.
Old coaches don’t see the light, they get blinded by it.
Guess the “Grey” makes you wise Wolf. Good point !!
BassPackerParticipantYes, I been hard on DSJ. Not because he isn’t talented, maybe best talent we’ve seen in decades. I was hard because he didn’t manage the game well, or get his team involved and/or let the game come to him. This game he impressed me by doing things like getting the rock to players like Abu and Maverick in transition, made open shots and good decisions as a leader. Yes, he had several missed layup and some key free throws but down the stretch he was the player we (I) was hoping for from the day he signed.
As said, Lowe beat the Dookies in Cameron, we all know how that chapter ended. Here’s hoping Gott saw the light with using players like Kapita more. It was a good win no matter where we go from here. Lets hope its finally that game changing season up trending win we needed.
BassPackerParticipantHell YEAH! Finally something to cheer about !!! Kapita was the difference and hopefully did find his legs tonite.
BassPackerParticipantCome on Smith, make these* free throws and I’ll never say anything
BassPackerParticipantHey, Troll…I admit…when Smith is feeding guys like Abu and Rowan and shooting a wide open three, HE NEEDS to LEAD !!! Not take over….LEAD !
BassPackerParticipantI’m becoming a DSJ fan. Love how he is feeding the team.
BassPackerParticipantDamn I wanna beat da Dook and its crazies in Cameron. Course, it will go on record as another loss to the intern. Come on Pack !!!
