Stated this in another post as to why nothing will happen to UNC from NCAA. They are too big a cash cow for NCAA and perhaps even the ACC.

With expectations for it to double, looks like that 18 million investment was well spend. Watched the Womens game, no doubt there was a Texas flavor with the calls late in game when Texas was down. But also there was some very very untimely turnovers by the Pack women that could have put the game away. Couple lazy passes and inbound turnovers killed them. Missed freethrows also. But the foul call to eliminate our best player and late charging call was highly questionable. Would have been interesting to seen Pack go up against Stanford. Moore will miss the Senior Class. Hopefully the Mens program is on the same upword swing as Moore has the Lady Pack.
Is this in the private sector or government related like State employment? My wife works for the State, this has become common tactics for those nearing retirement or tenure. No loyality anymore. Its like the HR dept gets incentives for pushing higher paying employees out the door, which may, not sure. It makes for a stressful work place.
Don’t get this post praising DY as the jury is still out. Yes, she’s done some good things compared to past admin but also done some things that has cost the university and fanbase a lot. Shes done some bad things too. The Reynolds makeover is nice and perhaps needed. The Wes Moore hire continues to impress as does the volleyball. Volleyball was like 16-109 in ACC play so that was a no brainer to change. This year will be the real tell of the tape for the DD hire. Its a make or break year so no gold star for DY yet. To me what stands out mostly so far with the DY tenure is the crazy extension and pay raise for Gott. It was not needed, unmerited and way over budget. And the 2.2 million per yr contract for Keatts seems way over the top too when you consider his current base pay at UNCW and what Gott came in for. Time will tell on that one too. And as far as given her props for firing Gott, perhaps her hands were tied more by Woodson and the big donors than her making the decision. I’m not ready to build the monument just yet and maybe never.
Cheebus !!!! I think ya’ll hit the nail on the head! Never thought about it like most have suggested, its a ploy to ad more commercials which means more $$$. Not some way to shorten the game for the kids. Damn “They” !! They being the TV networks !! I hate this idea royally now.
Don’t get the tag NC State is a hard job or sell to any coach, specially Archie Miller or even Greg Marshall. There has not been anything to raise the bar in NC State basketball since 1984. Zero Championships…Best we’ve seen is a few sweet 16, one Elite 8 and years of bubble bursting. If a prospective coach can’t handle the pressure to “measure” up to those accomplishments, then he needs to coach in the MEAC. If I was a coach, say like Miller or Marshall, would jump at NC State. Great fanbase, great (be it long ago) basketball tradition, great facilities, and a great conference. Which would come with a guaranteed multi-million dollar salary and incentives for atleast 6 yrs. If don’t work out, 6 years of 4 or more million a year makes for a great retirement portfolio. I see more shame in fearing the opportunity than taking the opportunity and perhaps failing.
Sure the neighborhood is tough, but as a coach, isn’t that what you want? Like a lot have said, come to NC State and succeed, heck least improve, and you will become royality. Beat the blues consistently and perhaps become a legend. Maybe that is the perception that NC State is a tough job, that we the fanbase expect to beat the Blues. At this point, would love to least see a team be competitive with the blues.
Well, he didn’t do himself any flavours’ with that tweet. Asking for a home on home stance bad ehough. Then declaring to any takers it will be a QAULITY Win for HIS program isn’t exactly inviting to any Power 5 opponent.
I’d say all this jabbing toward Marshall, conference and the NCAA seeding gives us atleast a percentage point.
Been hearing same as pvt said, Keatts is her target. Its a PC hire both with media and admin. The media will praise Yow with the hire, the Administration will praise Yow for the contract $$. And part of the fanbase will see Keatts numbers on paper and be happy. If it works, all is well. If not, as said, Yow will be sitting on a beach sipping a tropical drink.
I do have some hope now that Marshall will consider the job more after the NCAA snubbed him with the 10 seed. That may prove to him that he needs to move to a conference like ACC to get respect for his body of work. Anyone like me think that the NC State wannabe coaching match up game Dayton/W State will play out some with the media? Bet the media puts a negative spin on NC State with it.
You think there will be any added incentives to win the opening game between Shockers and Flyers? Winner potentially up the ante on big payday from NC State job? So far, that’s the one game I’m most interested in. Looks like the Cuse is headed to the NIT.
Had interesting conversation over supper tonight with some in the know peeps. Word is that Keatts is our primary target and almost a done deal. Just a matter of doing the paperwork.
Honestly, I don’t have good feelings bout this potential coaching hire from our administration. Think it was a poor decision first to leak it, then allow Gott to remain on the bench. Nothing good will come from Gott still coaching this team. If he loses today, more negative. If he wins out or makes a run in the ACCT, more negative press and comments.
As far as Archie not wanting to come back to NC State, not sure why this would not be his dream destination. It was good enough program for him to wanna come play as a player, then why would he not be good enough for him as a coaching career move. Specially with the ties in Raleigh. I can’t see how this situation does NOT work out for Archie and PackNation. Then again, We R NC State.
Glad someone else besides me thought the comment was stupid. The ceiling is the roof? In my house, the ceiling is lower than the roof, so does that mean less expectations? One has to go thru the ceiling to get to the roof? Just plain stupid comment that is made into something that its not.

I truly hope this team tries to win one (tournament) for the fans. Obviously winning one for the ole ball coach is less than cliché. And I hope Gott gets over ego trip and plays Anya. Its a shame what he has (is) doing to Anya since his firing was announced. Sure there is more to it than Anya smart mouthing Gott but from the reaction of the team by supporting Anya during senior introductions, Gott lost more than the game.
What university gives a fired basketball coach a 2 week work notice? SHM. NC State is a joke when it comes to handling change. Kick his butt to the curb, let an associate coach finish the season. If he ain’t good enough for next year, he ain’t good enuff for 2 more weeks. Guess he needs more time to pack those trophies. More like more time to tell his trophy girlfriends goodbye.
