That was piss poor coaching decision there. Why not go for it, the punt netted 8 more yards and only 30 seconds left. Make the first down and least can try a fg. Stupid play and time calling.
Going into halftime tied would feel like a victory after the way Wake has dominated and moved the ball.
Forecast is 20-25 mph winds with chance of rain at game time. After seeing how we play under less than chamber of commerce type weather at BC, this game worries me more now. If at Carter, maybe conditions not as much an issue for Finley. Wake running game is way under rated, they proved that with ND. And being Senior night at Wake and them playing for a bigger bowl perhaps than us with a win, this could get ugly quick. It could come down to fg goal kicking, and we know how that will be…. And PLEASE, no wild cat !! Either way, I’ll have plenty of beer and the grill red hot by game time. GO Pack !
BC has done nothing but basically put the W for us on a gold plate time and time after time. Even with our stupid play calling, BC keeps us alive. Can we finally cash in and seal this deal?
I hate that PLAY ! Put your NFL caliber qb behind center and play football. Killed us against Clemson. Finally works barely but hate it. Stupid high school type play calling.
It was a disappointing loss in many ways. I agree, the play sending our NFL qb out wide for a direct snap should never be used ever, its a dead play from the start. Why it was called with a short 3rd down on that led to a punt and then next play a busted run up the middle for Clemson TD is on the coaching. Still believe another mistake was not going for it on 4th down there. Big change as was the punt return.
As far as the laptop, DD did not blame the loss on it, nor did he say Clemson cheated. He merely said it should be investigated as it is 100% a rule violation to have one on the sidelines. It should not have been there no matter why and DD was correct in pointing it out. Dabo said we intentionally tried to hurt a player prior which was far more insulting.
Like many, our kicking game is a head scratcher, why even attempt a fg now? And how cannot there be someone on the team, on a NC State team and or on campus that can kick a fg? That’s on coaching…..and DD has some flaws that seem to continue to hold back our program from key wins and success. Ok, my take on this all. Yes, Trump needs to put down the tweeter crap and yes he could have defended his position better without calling them SOBs. But Trump did is no different and no more or less fueling the fire than Obama defending Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown.
Not arguing players do not have the right to kneel. The point is free speech isn’t protection from consequences. Players are free to say or do what they want, but that right does not protect them from suffering consequences from that, including backlash from fans, booing, loss of sponsors, even loss of a job. Being disrespectful to the greatest symbol(s) of our freedom and Nation Anthem is not being proactive, IMO. The cause maybe just but the platform being used is wrong. Like some said, its their workplace, their believes and protest should not be thrown on fans at a football game must less during the National Anthem. If pay big bucks to go to an NFL game, I expect football players to play not display acts that most find offensive. Kind of reminds me of last week, a group of Jehovah Witness knocked on my door. Don’t push your beliefs on me specially in my home. Same can be said for players pushing their agenda at their job (game). I don’t like it when I a clerk at Walmart tells me Thank You and May God Bless You after doing a transaction. Its their workplace, not a place to push their beliefs on someone because they chose to patronize the business. Yes, they sound trival but its not what freedom of speech grants.
The NFL, owners or Goodell are two faced on this issue. How can they allow this so called freedom of expression while Tim Tebow taking a knee to pray to God(freedom of expression) was threatened to be fined by the NFL? A player who wanted to wear cleats sporting 9/11 never forget (freedom of expression) on their cleats threatened to be fined? Players celebrate a touchdown celebration (freedom of expression) threatened to be fined? John Kitna wearing a ball cap with a cross (freedom of expression) actually was fined. Current players kneeling during the national anthem (freedom of expression) it’s OK? This is why I have stopped watching NFL.
Even after couple days to set in, fact is this was a game we were predicted to win and should have won. Don’t think I’ve ever had the high hopes of a pre-season hype smashed as quickly as an opening season kick off TD by the opposing team did. It was almost like knew it would happen like we knew Pack would miss the last second game winning fg kick at Clemson.
Did you watch the game McCall? Or being your usual jestful self? A team that scores 42 pts having possession of the ball only 18 minutes does not stink. Tenn will kill SC. And GT will “run thru” the coastal division.
Really really tough loss. Hope this brings this team and coaching staff back down to earth from all the hype. Same mistakes and same flaws with a DD coached team. This should have been a “Statement” game for DD but instead another close loss. This loss to me was clearly being outcoached in the second half. Yea, we had some flags go against us that maybe was questionable, a ball spot that was questionable but in the end, a game we should have won without question.
This is why I didn’t buy into the hype and purchase tics for Charlotte and the expense that goes with travel. Pack got 15 mins left to prove my decision wrong. We are obviously out coached with the second half changes from SC a glaring difference in second half. We seem to have no answer…..again.
If we loose this game by 3 or less due to an bad kicking game again this season, then DD needs to have an open tryout from soccer team. Heck, have some one line up kick the ball straight on style like the ole days….least its straight.
