Avid109Participant
He heard me!
Avid109ParticipantBrissett ought to go ahead and throw an interception so he won’t have to worry about that stat anymore….
Avid109ParticipantWhile this loss was disappointing, it’s not the end of the world. The two turnovers were the difference in the game. After what looked like a sure score turned into a big play touchdown for the Cards, our offense played like they were afraid of making a mistake the rest of the game. It’ll be interesting to see how the players and the coaching staff respond to this setback with two tough road games coming up next.
Avid109ParticipantAs highstick mentioned, I’m more than a little curious about Johnny Swofford’s role in this scheme. I can’t see him keeping his position after all of this. Either he let these things happen or (if he was totally unaware of everything) he was incompetent.
Avid109ParticipantSo sick of garbage like this. This team really cannot handle success.
Avid109ParticipantPathetic play in the first half. Hope they wake up and play in the second half.
Avid109ParticipantWhat is wrong with this team?
Avid109ParticipantBill,
If I understand you correctly, “energy” = “effort.”
With our team, the energy/effort on defense seems to improve when our offense starts clicking. I wish we could get to a point where playing good defense could spark our offense. Really good teams can get spark from solid play on either end of the court.
Avid109ParticipantWith the way they’ve been playing defense, perhaps they ought to run the type of offense that was employed by Paul Westhead at Loyola Marymount back in the 1980’s.
Avid109ParticipantLooks like Jedi was reading my mind. ^
Avid109ParticipantHad this been a UNC game at the Dean Dome and a Carolina player hitting the same shot, would the officials have made the same call?
Avid109ParticipantCoach Doeren is obviously looking at the big picture and doing what it takes to build long-term success. I like his no-BS attitude.
Avid109ParticipantGreat win for Wolfpack Nation!
Avid109ParticipantDefense won the game. Who’da thunk it?
Avid109ParticipantWhile there’s no proof (yet) that Ol’ Roy knew about what was going on, it certainly looks like he knew. In a case like this, appearance matters. I suspect that Roy is being kept on so that he can be offered as a sacrifice to the NCAA at a later date if serious penalties appear to be on the horizon.
Avid109ParticipantLots of mistakes, but certainly no shortage of effort by our guys. I was afraid they might just give up. Glad I was wrong. These guys are indeed making progress. An off week ought to offer the players time to recover and to continue to improve.
Avid109ParticipantThat explains a lot. Unfortunately, too many fans fail to take this into account. Patience is (understandably) scarce among the Wolfpack faithful.
Avid109Participant“Coach Dave Doeren will make decisions, some tough, to move forward and improve.”
Coach Doeren obviously needs to make some tough decisions because the current approach is not working. He needs to either fire Huxtable or at least take a more active role himself in coaching the defense. On offense, too, there is a real need to mix the play calling more and not be so predictable. Those sorts of moves might not be enough to win against teams like Louisville, but it beats doing the same things over and over again while waiting for better talent.
Avid109ParticipantThis game illustrates that Huxtable needs to go. We’re seeing Archer Part II.
A bigger question mark is with the offense. After starting out aggressive, they slowed down and looked very tentative. Once they’re behind by a couple of scores, they seem to come unglued.
Even if the team is loaded up with younger players, by this point in the season they ought to know what they’re doing.
Avid109ParticipantAmen, Greywolf.
I, too, cannot access the article from the main site. I get the same error in different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Explorer) on different computers using different operating systems (Windows 7 & Linux).
Avid109ParticipantIf Yow & company really want to find a solution to this situation, they can. It just requires some thought.
Avid109ParticipantThe poor play of our defense was magnified by the failure of the offense to move the ball. Clemson’s defense looked like they wanted to stop the Pack’s high-octane offense and they did so from the start. For whatever reason, our offense just couldn’t make anything work; they came out flat and never recovered.
How the team responds to this sorry performance against BC will give us a good idea of where this team is headed.
Avid109ParticipantTough road, but it’s better than no road.
Avid109ParticipantYou know they’d just love to put the Pack into a play-in game against Arizona State.
Avid109ParticipantCertainly can’t fault the effort that they team gave today. If they do end up going to the NIT, I hope they give it everything they’ve GOTT. This team is good enough to bring home an NIT title. While some fans may not think too much of that, I’d really like to see our basketball program hang a new championship banner, even if it is just an NIT championship.
It’s been way too long since the ’87 ACC title.
