Here’s one I thought of after visiting my elderly parental units in the sunshine state for Thanksgiving. Funny and poignant.
AsheWolfParticipantAnd if you missed this, now you see it:
AsheWolfParticipantY’all are barking up my tree now.
AsheWolfParticipantA boat full of Holes??? Not for me.

AsheWolfParticipantDavid Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitzdavid.
AsheWolfParticipantThat was posted at 4:20 pm, so it doesn’t really count. Dude.
AsheWolfParticipantYour britches are a better place for it as opposed to keeping it all in your noggin.
AsheWolfParticipantYou’re worried about heat stroke when the little ADD darlings are at risk of cramps in their texting thumbs. Back when I was their age we had to keep our thumbs strong by cropping “baccer.” In the direct sunlight… But never for 4 hours. Nope, never.
We used to pick pole beans for 25 cents per bushel. Or you could get paid in soda. Them cheap grape and scrawberry sodas. Me and my brother drank so many sodas one day that when we bent over to pick beans on the lower branches, soda would come out our nose.
And don’t get me started on Grandpa. When he and Granny would be hoeing the baccer or the beans, she would leave at about noon to go fix dinner. Grandpa would count the rows she “missed.” He’d quit that many rows early in the evening so she could do her share. He was awful sweet though. If it got dark, he would hold the lantern for her.
Kids these daze. Sheesh.
AsheWolfParticipantBlindsided or dumbfounded?
AsheWolfParticipant^ Just one “s”?

AsheWolfParticipantIma drink a fifth in Forth.
AsheWolfParticipantNever saw that typo but you did misspell Wolpfack.

05/25/2015 at 9:33 AM in reply to: ANOTHER chance for Avent, NC State Athletics to end 23 year championship drought #86554AsheWolfParticipantI’m so sorry I missed reading the masterpiece before it was removed. And I don’t know who “you guys” are, but I know these things. I have a couple of degrees from NC State, my beloved alma mater. They taught me to count. We all get it. It’s been a long drought. But the kids that donned the red and white this year and played their guts out have zero to do with that history. It seems like it’s “you guys” that have trouble separating this season from historical performance. I was able to really enjoy watching THIS team THIS season. They performed way better than pretty much anybody gave them a chance to do. And it ain’t over yet.
And would winning it all even make a difference to the miserable amongst us? We went to our first CWS since 1968, only the second time in program history and the haters complained that it’s only once in 19 years of Avent… blah, blah, blah.
History is history. Now is now. I get it. Do you?
AsheWolfParticipantWell up here on top of the world, this has been a great start to the season. NO frost in May. That’s a first for my memory bank. The fruit trees look to be loaded (plums, apples, cherries, peaches pears) and all the early season stuff is perfect.
I’ll till the main garden and put in everything else this week including first corn and bean plantings. I’m trying a brand-new corn variety called “Who Got Kissed?” which apparently refers to some old game played during corn shuckings. Tomatoes will go in June 1.
I just returned from a trip to the west coast where I picked up a pair of Border Terriers. Best varmint dogs ever. Them wascally wabbits better be doing their cardio cause Ima sic Ripper and Nipper on their arses.
AsheWolfParticipantAvent plays small ball to beat Longwood.
AsheWolfParticipantLongwood came up short.
AsheWolfParticipantHail without brimstone is barely worth complaining about.
Up here, they predicted “accumulating hail” but it never did it. High winds and some flurries but it only got down to 35.
I’ve finally got the cabbage, broc, carrots etc planted.
My maters are about 4 inches tall and I hope to get them in around May 23rd. Or a week later depending on temps. I’ll plant 24 plants with 12 different varieties.
C’mon global warming. Hit me.
AsheWolfParticipantDare I say he looks stellar?
AsheWolfParticipantTaint? I thought that was what they call Carrboro. Taint Durham and it Taint Chapel Hill.

Me? I’m not proud.
