    This never gets old:

    UP NEXT

USC faces fourth-seeded UCLA in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Arizona State is hoping for a NIT bid.

Perhaps NCSU BB heritage did have a wee bit to do with HWSNBN border line success while here. He ain’t found it in the desert.

‘Roo, the remark ancsu87 made wasn’t directed at you. It was a tongue in cheek reference to what happened around here after the Carolina game.

Exactly. Sorry if it seemed directed at you.

Writing for the third time because I did not know the word police were here:

Sitton, Friday and Monteirh were tools of the UNCCH system and Dean network. He was a drunk and cheat in the 1980’s.

I had the honor to attend and graduate NCSU during this made up scandal. Some lack of oversight and issues yes. Scandal no. Se today at UNCCH for a real scandal. Everyone seems to forget that even the NCAA investigator apologized to Valvano. The whole affair did have a relationship to his early onset of cancer.

I at least got to tell Monteith what I thought of the situation after my graduation since he was the Dean of Engineering. I tried to explain to him that Valvano’s name recognition and love of the university would do more for us than any academic professor’s individual research. The conversation ended with me telling him “good luck and take care” (Google it if you don’t understand).

I wish I could have been 1,000 miles away during that time as it forever changed my view of justice, fairness, media and the government. Then to listen to all the comments from media coaches and the POTUS about Dean Smith well excuse me while I vomit on his grave. BTW am I the only one who thinks the four corners was not a revolutionary coaching idea? It was the most boring and chicken crap (word police) way to play BB I ever saw. I remember one of my JR. High friends beating A UNCCH fan like a drum when he tried to get his team to run four corners in a pick up basketball game to 21. I guess that kid he went on to graduate from UNCCH being as stupid as he was.

I can’t make a sentence with the name Dean Smith without using two words: F%%k and HIM

Lock it down. Someone will be offended. Dean was mentioned negatively.

Front ends and missing two on an act of shooting.

Why continue to bring this up?

Zeebs were from a different plane last night. Not so in Miami.

I was thinking the Miami game was poor too but Icould not watch it. I was going off CBSSports box score that showed NCSU as 3-4 from line. I guess this was wrong.

Did anyone NOT expect us to blow that lead? I figured best case was we figure out a way to win in the last second but stupidity and lack of rebounding killed us… again.

We are who we think we are.

I did because ever since a kid watching Sloan’s teams I have known any Wolfpack team that gets double digit lead at half (FB or BB) has a better chance of losing than winning. This ain’t just this year’s team

The bubble did not burst. We’re still going dancing. We’ll win the next three and set up another big one with the Hoos. This team can play some ball. It just hurts to lose when your up 18 at home against a top 10 team that were better than. Should have definitely won it. It stings and will affect seeding (we’ll be seeded high yet again). We always seem to like to make it tough on ourselves.

We’ll see, a win against Duke can only take you so far. If we do make it, I am guessing we will be in the ejector seat.<br>
    Gott is an offensive Sendek.

That is one hell of an upgrade.

Regarding his recruiting I would take the kids he has now over the three McD’s players. First of all Purvis has shown nothing at UConn and Tyler was overmatched. Cat will be a good JR and great SR. but so will some of our FR and SO that we’re not McD’s. Warren was only McD that meet his potential.

I recall that Jim Valvano reflected after the Washburn incidents that he would rather take good solid players he could mold in Good college BB players rather than fooling with trying to get all McD AAs. Thus Chucky Brown, Del Negro and Gugs. In this day and age unless your KU or Duke I would rather get the steady solid players that stay for 4 years with the Warren type McD AA throw in occasionally. That is how you build and sustain a program.

Its an interesting theory, but you need more dimensions than foul totals to make this argument cogent.

You can look at the last two games and see it. Go review other ACC games and see where teams with a similar style find so much delta in FTA. Of course don’t look at any game Dule or UNC-CH plays.

When was it Hess was removed as an ACC official???

This is the part I like best. Keeping talent in the state of NC while shoving it up the Hat’s and the rest of the dicks at UNC-CH collective assholes.

I am sorry there is just no way anyone can explain a team only taking 4 foul shots in a college game unless you look at the name Kersey in the ref box and know that Hess just got banned for life.

That was not the rule “even in Iowa where they still play it”..It was 6 players, 2 rovers who could cross mid court. Believe it or not, that was the way it was played until I was “long out of high school in North Carolina”…

Are you sure it was never played that way anywhere? Because that’s what I was told by someone who played. In NC.

    Yes he is correct

I got all that the first time. However I am guessing most people here, if put in his shoes, would bitch about it was handled to.

Not me. You do realize his behavior in large part contributed to the decision, right?

Yes accumulation of his behavior over the years plus a demand for a salary/behavior that did not fit with what the Panthers wanted to do under the new GM. I don’t think how the decision was handled and communicated, on both sides, was professional. After the decision I agree the Panthers took the high road and Steve Smith was .. Well .. Steve Smith.

He was a career Panther. Makes sense to me he would prefer to retire as one.

So Peyton had one more playoff win than Tebow.

Priceless. I laughed hard at that observation.

But what is he really about and did that trait just appear such that he had to go. I find it humorous any Pathner fan would bad mouth Smith for his personality AFTER he left the team. He was a first class dick for years but I guess he was their dick so it was ok.

Ive never been a Panther fan, and never liked Cam, so I’ll try to help you since you seem to want to continue to ignore what you’re being told so you can continue your obstinate trolling bitch session.

You are correct, Smith always has been an egotistical diva bitch. But here’s the thing, times change. Shocker, I know. Smith’s antics were wearing thin and causing problems in the locker room, hampering Cam’s development as a leader and QB, and hello McFly, the Panthers have a new GM that didn’t think his BS was worth the tolerating.

Hope that helps to clear it up for you, but I’m sure you’ll find something else you can bitch about to help you prop up that smug attitude.

I got all that the first time. However I am guessing most people here, if put in his shoes, would bitch about it was handled to. Also no one should have been surprised or wish hurt on him because of it.

    Appreciate the positive feedback.

^ Same with me. Started following the year before DT was a freshman. Went to school during JV and the ’83 championship. I guess maybe I recall JV era wrong because in my mind it was a lot like Gott. A work in progress all year and then by ACCT time they were playing their best. Granted he was not on the bubble as much and had more talented teams at times but we never were a top 10 or even top 20 team from start to finish that I recall.

We won despite Duke taking 16 more shots and get 8 more FTs attempt. I guess that translates into a good KenPom Off Eff.

Life as a State fan. Every time I get to the bottom of the dregs and think all hope is lost, I keep hoping against hope that something like this will happen. I don’t do the game thread during the game – always read it afterward – and it’s nice for once in a big game to see all the naysayers wrong at the end.

Of course, during the games I’m usually a big negative Nellie myself. But in the name of all that is holy that resides upon the Earth, I am happy today.

I guess I drink the Kool-aid cause I have not gotten to the point where I thought all hope was lost in any season under Gott. Under Les, Herb and Sid I got there often.

Bad decision, but at least he hit the freebies.

Cat’s decision to drive the lane when it was open was the correct one. You don’t hold a lead trying to run a four corners unless your a pussy. Besides isn’t what he did the exact thing people have been bitching about him not doing?

Given the overall situation (ie, the time factor) in the game, I’ll have to disagree. It was time to kick it back out, reset, and bleed some clock; not force a shot in the paint against a bigger defender. And he wouldn’t have been fouled had the lane been open.

    But that’s how we learn.

His speed means the lane to me was open cause either he blows by the bigger guy or he is fouled. I see it as an aggressive move that I like him to take. The time was short but Duke was still in it at that time.
