I predict DD and other great minds will run 22 trick plays resulting in one turnover and 40 yds lost. Don’t know how many field goals but I bet we kick one on 4th and 3 or less against Heels.
This may have been mentioned before but if not, the state of S.C. may have men’s baseball,football and men’s and women’s National Champs in the span of the last 9 months.
The reason state loses in many ways is that Gott does not make adjustments to counter whatever the opposition is doing. That is what good coaches do.
If someone has already mentioned this fact before then I apologize for being repetitive . State now has a coaching staff consisting of 2 previous head coaches and now a new assistant coach all who were fired from their previous positions. No up and comers at State.
In reply to those who started bashing Smart based upon my post regarding BIlas you missed the point totally. He was talking recruiting coaches. I used SMart as an example. Smart may have only one run to the final four but he had several NCAA appearances at VCU. In his first year at Texas he beat 6 teams ranked 17 or better,4 in top 10 and 2 ranked 3. Those last two happen to be Okla. and chapel cheats. Not a bad 1st year.
Alpha WOlf, no mention of state.My point is that after 25 yrs in the bb wilderness we are not going to be able to just hire a successful mid major but will need to do a real search like the mid-majors carry out. Most state fans do not know who Case was but I believe he was a high school coach when hired. As I said before the,last 2 days indicates that there are mid-major AD’s that can find coaches who will be successful.
Jay Bilas on mike & mike today and shared some opinions on various topics but only caught him discussing the status of college bb coaching and his example was VCU and Smart.He believes that successful mid-major coaches have no reason to move to an unsuccessful schools of a major conference ie.-NCSU. State has a history of hiring mid majors with mixed results. We need an AD who can find a Smart before he becomes a successful VCU coach as the VCU AD did. The mid major AD’s seem to be able to find good coaches and this tourney has many examples.
You people who want to go back to Reynolds need a time machine and replay the 70’s and 80’s.The PNC is not the cause of a 25 years of bad NCSU bb but bad Atheletic directors which led to bad coaching staffs and their poor recruiting. And remember the reason we are in the PNC is because the NCSU athletic dept and the alumni did not have the financial means to build an arena on their own. Most of the Div 1 programs play in facilities less desirable than the PNC. What we need is coaching staffs that can recruit,game coach and improve the recruits skills not another facility .
Cat should go. Playing another year for this awful program is not going to help him and there is the chance he could be injured.
Since this is now a bitching thread I would like to hear how the experts at this site would evaluate the hiring of Yow. At the time I believe there was much support for this hire and many expressed that we made out better than the Terps. Hmmmm Terps get new AD,join the BIG,both Men and women BB teams in top 10,and FB recruiting in THE BIG better than our recruiting in the ACC.
Perfect mentorship. NCSU with so much talent and depth is in the perfect position to use 2 scholarships for each position.
Agree with 13 about the 6 wins.When teams played 10 games, a 6 win season was only a so-so record.Now 6 wins gets you a 13th meaningless game.And as far as the improved defense remember it was against Syracuse with only wins against Villanova,C. Michigan and Wake.Hope it does not happen but would not be surprised if GT has a 500+ yds game.
