40YdLineParticipantLooks like the boys will break their Friday night losing streak.

40YdLineParticipantWe look tired. Johnson is playing schoolyard. Don’t know what A Freeman is doing.

40YdLineParticipantDon’t think the uni color is the reason for FSU’s lackluster play.

40YdLineParticipantKnew it was only time until the refs earn their money.

40YdLineParticipantPlease keep the ball on the left hash..just in case.

40YdLineParticipantYogi, I’d still rather have Harry Martel as a kicker…

40YdLineParticipantI can’t argue with their ruling, stinks but that’s their rule. What absolutely smacks of subterfuge is the timing of this announcement… Denmark rotten folks, It is as disrespectful an action as I could imagine. Not only should NCSU appeal the ruling, it should give warning to the NCAA of our attempt to encourage the dissolution of the NCAA. I, for one, would encourage the athletic department of our university to ignore any contest scheduled with Chapel Hill, all of them, until such a time as UNC formally issues an apology to the other members of the ACC, the UNC system, and frankly all the other members of the NCAA. It should be their mea culpa.

40YdLineParticipantMaybe I’m too old to relate, but I fully experienced the era of integration and the war in Viet Nam. I watched protests and demonstrations, flag burning, Klan shootings. I grew up in the segregated south, experienced and participated in racial banter, had a “colored” maid/sitter/nanny (whom I truly loved) and was frightened and sickened at the thought of integration which I lived through starting high school 1963. I understood the motives of racial protests, but not the burning and looting that (too often) accompanied. I was at State in the war protest era, even participated in one mass gathering as classes were being ignored in protest..??. Celebrated my #126 in the first draft lottery and anguished over the local draft board’s calling of those numbered up to #124….whew. The only sports related protest I recall was the fist-raised “black-power” salute as the USA relay team won gold in the Olympic Games. Neighborhoods where families lived and supported one another became “projects” where, due to the policy of welfare, family was replaced by a single mother with multiple children of multiple “baby-daddies”, respect of self and the value of self-reliance became too often spurned. I kind of understood what was going on in Penn State scandal.. Paterno grew up in an era that didn’t discuss homosexuals nor their issues. That was covered and hushed and only directly dealt with in quiet. He was a product of his era, that doesn’t make him criminal/negligent/abetting it made him human.
Seems that too many folk are way too sensitive.. want to react to every little word or misstep. Products of extremism, where nothing is minor. Weather is no longer just normal, but played up to the worst possible outcome..extreme. Sport is now more about the rules than the competition.. anyone think the FlaSt player was targeting Finley when his arm smashed into that facemask? Politics is today’s war. News is no longer what happened, but an opinion as to what was behind what happened. Our schools are no longer classrooms, but social indoctrination areas.
He has a “right” to say this.. they have the “right” to do that. Yes they do, but LIBERTY has always come with consequence. “For what profits a man if he gains the whole world but loses his own soul” What does society gain if can define and demand that everyone think alike, act alike, believe alike, treat alike, look alike, own alike, earn alike, speak alike? What part of LIBERTY do we then hold to?

"Don't ever give up"
40YdLineParticipantStep 7: Apologize to all those you offended through the years: OK .. to all the girls in sundresses that I oogled.. sorry. To Jack, who used to usher Aisle 21, for calling him an asshole for making me miss the final(extra) play of the USC game in what was it 1985? To the masses for the foul language used when TA scored a TD against the cheats in Charlotte..I vowed NEVER to step foot back into that stadium EVER. And finally to Tom Reed..but you still sucked.
"Don't ever give up"
40YdLineParticipantStep 3: What will you do without tailgate? Ah Ha… I have a new fifth of Lagavulin to break in.
Step 4: What will you do with the extra time? duh….see step 3.
Step 5: What will you do with the extra money? come on man… see step 3!!!!
Step 6: Remember how much you’ll miss those noon games in September? well, there is the memory of young(er) ladies in sundresses to ponder, but the fact I won’t have to buy a case of Mennen sweat powder and my ass won’t smell like the cork of that Lagavulin!
"Don't ever give up"
40YdLineParticipantI’ve developed my own 12 step program for weaning myself. Step 1 .. admit you have a “problem” . I admit it, why would any reasonable man spend $25000 for the “rights” to seats in an arena where he will sweat his ass off for at least 33% of his time there. I must have a problem…
Step 2: Concentrate on your least favorite thing about the problem… easy…. gutdarned gate nazi staff ….
more to come
"Don't ever give up"
40YdLineParticipantFor the first time since 1976 I will not attend the games. Made that decision back in the late winter. It already feels strange not to be prepping for the first tailgate. TV has done this, that and the $10grand it was costing each year. I’ll now enjoy my fall weekends doing other activities and re-directing my objections to the stupidity of CF entry bag/pocket/coat check and pat down from idiots, dumb music over too loud PA systems (thought that was what the band was for), commercials on that giant screen, flashing whatevers on the ring of lights, stupid play calls by the coaches, really stupid calls by the refs, annoying “first down” chants, having to wait until 2 mins left in the half to return to my tailgate for a chicken leg and the insanity of even trying to exit the West lot until the game has been done with for an hour and a half. That re-direction will now be focused onto the possibility that this board will produce some reasonable comments about the team/coaches/media coverage/band/cheerleaders/dancing girls etc.. Hope you can live up to my expectations!
